What's good everybody?

Here on my fifth grow so far, actually is my 4.5 grow haha I cut my two WWxBB this morning (they were 28 days in 12/12) due to bad case of hermies and pollination of two of my plants. So I decide to cut them plants down and start all over :| Don't want to waste my time on growing seeds.

The seeds are already germing in some shot glasses and are already on the bottom so tomorrow morning I'll be planting them straight into 3gal pots.

Pictures will come when they sprout.

1x Fruity Chronic Juice by Delicious seeds
1x Kandy Kush by R.P
1x BD x Cheese Freebie from S.O.S
Grow box 39" x 19" X 60"
Lights:
Veg: 400w MH
Flower: 2x 400w HPS
Fans: 2 Oscillating fans inside the box, 190cfm exhaust fan plus carbon scrubber, passive intake
Container: 3x 3gal pots
Soil: Fox Farm Ocean Forest, organic lime, perlite and some garden tone.
Nutrients: Fox Farm Trio
Water: Tap water with adjusted PH
Temps: Usually between 75f-79f with a max of 82.5f and min of 64.6f

Some pictures of what I'm working with: IMAG0486.jpgIMAG0562.jpgIMAG0568.jpgIMAG0563.jpgIMAG0561.jpg

First picture is my Scrog screen which I'll be using later on in the grow, for vegging I'll be using 400w MH and in flower I'll using this light in the picture and another 400w HPS that I got so it should be fun :weed:

Just looked at your pics and your setup looks pretty good. Two questions....1) Are you pulling air out of the grow box into the carbon filter? And 2) For a space that small, two 400w lights are gonna get pretty hot. What are you doing about controlling temps since these are open wings and not tubes or reflectors? Not saying you can't grow this way. Im sure you have many times, just curious is all.

Hey Jrizzle007, thanks for stopping by and Welcome.

1. No, I'm pulling air into my box through three intake holes, 1x 4", 1x 7"x3" rectangular intake and one two inch hole. I'm pulling the air in through the carbon filter.

2. Here's a picture of where my box is located in my house View attachment 2865676. The box is in walk-in closet which is located in the back of the house on the second floor where in winter time temps drop to about 55F with even colder drafts of air near the floor level, by ambient temps being on the colder side I have no problem keeping my temps in check. I'm just sucking in cold air that cools down my whole box. Good ventilation is a MUST.

I use 4in fan, passive intake, two fans on the inside blowing on the plants. Plus I must add I can go as low as 6-7inches above the tops without burning my plants, like I and everybody on RIU will tell you good ventilation is a freaking must if you planning on growing in small confined space.

I was already running those two 400w up until this morning when I decided to cut down those two pregnant ladies.
If ambient temps don't go over 68F in my house then I'm good, if I see rise in my temps I always dial down the ballast to either 300w or 200w and if my temps are going overboard then I can always shutdown one light and work with only one, but winter time there's no need for that haha.

Dude, that's a really good set up. And I'm sure you, like myself, love growing in the winter indoors because it is so much easier to control the temps. Damn man 6-7 inches in an open hood without burning the canopy??? That's amazing. I can definitely see that in the winter time but during the summer?? Thats good shit man. I've got a 5x5x7 grow tent with a 1000w I'm getting ready to fire up as soon as I get my seeds in the mail. And like you, I'll have it upstairs in the spare bedroom and with a window cracked, it will be no problem keeping the tent cool. And if I'm not mistaken, by the looks of the carbon filter in your pic, it's the exact same one I have. And u said you are pulling air into the box with your filter. What are u doing for the smell?

Jrizzle, don't get me wrong buddy. I don't grow in summer time, temps in summer time in my apt sometimes reach 85-90F where the grow box is located.

As for the filter I got it from Gotham on ebay.

Yes I pull the air in through my filter it's like this filter-duct-fan-duct out of the box --> direction of air flow
The air gets pulled in through intake ports, then through the filter and out of the box, the air that gets exhausted is already fresh and clean.

Some people are pulling through the filter and some people are exhausting through the filter as in duct-fan-duct-filter --> direction of air flow

I'm back. Just subbed up. Sorry about other grow. I had a moby dick, blueberry. strawberry/blue & a kandy kush grow going when i brought in 2x ulh for a 12/12 from seed. They hermied & touched almost everyone else. But the end product was awesome just had to clean seeds now & then. I couldn't help but think how good could these have been without the seeds ? Now I have seeds that are all female cause all the plants were clones except the ULH. I'm wondering if I am now going to have seeds with the ULH semi auto trait. Time will tell. Just finishing up & then it's all new og's to try out. The chill is on & the temps are right let the season begin !

You will do fine.

FWIW: the pull air through the filter is preferred as it is not as prone
to smell leaks. (for the OP's benefit)

Good luck.

What JD said ^ is correct :)

I was going through your thread and I saw you using hempy buckets, so I tracked down a thread with nice instruction for the hempy and did one today from a 1 gallon container and a bag seed.

I did 3/4 perlite 1/4 vermiculite, I had some left overs from mycology project just sitting there and I had a bag seed so I was like what's the worse can happen rite ;)

I am indeed using 5 gallon hempy buckets. (I was happy to
have you join the convo)

I think that the balance here is way more air to the roots at
the cost of having to water more often.

I get away with every other day, and can skip longer, but it
does seem to be worth the effort.

...but I need to prepare for the stretch better. My mainlined
Kosher Kush exploded! ...and the OK #18 is half way to the
fucking moon. LOL

JD for now I'm just experimenting with hempy, but I think I f....d up straight from the start..

I planted the seed straight into the hempy bucket (after initial 24hr soak in shot glass) and from what I can see and read online people start them off in peat pallets etc.

What's your take on that?
