40% tax on weed?

If it's "illegal to sell" , it's not really "legal" it's regulated. What is wrong with fully legal and leave people the fuck alone?
It will never happen because of all the judgmental assholes who think they know what's best for everybody. They always got to stick their fucking nose in others business. Just because they don't, they don't think others should either.

The Feds just busted 27 "medical" growers in Michigan for growing to make a profit. If they won't let the growers make a legal profit how the hell are they going to tax the shit?

Well, as I said, we see that in CA also. They are only, as you say, "medical" growers. Quotes.

But, it is for profit, and I bet it goes out of State. So, in govt, remember you are not an individual. There are big programs at work all the time, in secret.

One of these is the wind down on the Drug War on Pot. Very complicated as we ship tons of Ben Franklins into the S.Am economies.

We don't want riots in Colombia and in the Michocan, etc. That is a separate but equal problem.

They want to tax Billions of Dollars in US illegal economy. Not easy and not in my job description to cypher.

But, to do that, States that are far from Compassion Minded and are still strict on ganja have to be protected from the illegal interstate commerce. And the ganga State needs protection from un-reported profit.

I think of States as Mob Families. We all pay tribute to the 50 family org, called the Feds. So, you think it is complicated for the 5 families on Manhattan or the Chicago Mob, this is 50 Families and each family has 100s of Crews in the form of Counties.

It is a Mafia in fact. Organized crime in bed with illegal organized crime. Thus it is ever so. And it is a GOOD THING. It is only alternative to warlord.

My 2 c's:
Locals will beat the taxes by purchasing on the streets, just as before/now. Out of state tourists will be the ones paying the 40% tax.
More power to em, I will vote yes on the tax.

No offense, but fuck your stupid idea. Fuck it in its stupid, stupid ass. Not you, your stupid idea.
Supporting a tax this high is just telling the politicians that they can ignore the will of the voters. What is to stop them from more bullshit taxes?

What about poor people that do not have a "guy," or only have access to Mexican murder weed?
I do not think poor people that can not afford a medical license should have to pay outrageous taxes like this.

That 40% is just the beginning. There are still sales taxes etc on top of that.
If the asshole Mayor of Denver has his way the taxes will be near 51%.

I do not see how anyone with a logical bone in their body can support such an outrageous tax.
It is un-American.

And you don't grow. So you think it is easy. Not every individual can grow. And I am trying to keep myself supplied. It is not easy, but how would you know?

So, maybe you give it away. And I give you $300. Is that selling?

Why even ask you? You are not a grower.

My guess?
You kinda get your wish and regret it with all the restrictions regulations and taxes.
Hey ya gonna radio frequency tag your plants dipshit?
Does he live in CO? That is just one State. Read the part again about the only reason this is finally getting realistic about ganja is taxes. It is just a yeti dream, no taxes, can't sell.

We want them to tax the shit out of it. Why? They had their taste. The next one, as we know, is not free. We want each of these State gang families HOOKEed on ganja tax. We won.

My States gets tax and the city gets an extra tax. Don't you see the entire reason for MMJ from the beginning, was tax? And in CO and WA, you are going to see big social crackdowns. It is already happening. But, state by state it looks like we are going legal for tax.

You should cheer that.

Think Chesus. Then you could grow. Who cares? That is what we need. Ho Hum...like beer. Beer is taxed. Get it?

Mainstream Cannabis and stamp out Meth Labs with tax.

It can be so casual no one has to worry about 5 gals of beer in home or plants without tags.
That below the radar causal, depends on the tax and it is working.

Have another drink.
Colorado as it is now

  1. Licensing and Fees - All marijuana stores, cultivation facilities and marijuana-infused products makers must be licensed and pay fees ranging from $2,750 to $14,000.
  2. Growing Rules - Until October 2014, recreational marijuana stores must grow almost all the pot they sell.
  3. Public Transparency - All businesses must use the state’s forthcoming online inventory tracking program to document their marijuana’s journey from cultivation to processing to sale.
  4. Safety and Security - Businesses must follow extensive security requirements, including having a surveillance camera that can document marijuana sales and “the customer(s) and employee(s) facial features with sufficient clarity to determine identity.”
  5. Child-Safe Packaging - Marijuana must be placed into opaque, child-resistant packages before leaving the store.
  6. Consumer Protection - All marijuana packages must contain a label that lists the pot’s potency and any non-organic pesticides or fungicides used in its cultivation.
  7. No Child Marketing - Marijuana stores cannot advertise in places where kids will likely see it, including on television, on the radio or in newspapers where there is “reliable evidence” that “more than 30 percent of the audience … is reasonably expected to be under the age of 21.”
  8. Inspections - Marijuana businesses are subject to an audit or inspection by the state Marijuana Enforcement Division at any time.
  9. Background Checks - Successful business applicants must pass a gantlet of criminal background checks to weed out recent drug felons and people with possible ties to criminal drug cartels. Everyone in the industry, from shop owners to “bud-tenders,” must reside in Colorado.
  10. Growing and Purchasing Limits - Adults over 21 can grow up to six plants or buy up to one ounce of pot in retail stores. Medical patients can buy up to two ounces. Out-of-state visitors would be limited to one-fourth of an ounce per retail transaction, though they could legally possess the full ounce. They cannot take it home with them.

AND WHEN IT GETS TOTALLY LEGAL FOR COMMERCIAL SALES THEN THE FED JUMPS iN WITH THEIR REQUIREMENTS, REGULATIONS AND TAXES

You are making things up now.

All I was saying is that most of your ridiculous stories about what is going to happen can not happen in Colorado.
All you have done is post spam and rant like a child.

You should grow weed.

all they have to do is make it legal all 50 states. grow out doors unlimited number of plants. and flood the market. in a few years most people would go out of business. and the market would go underground again. because no body wants to pay 40 % tax. not going to work. so basically there would only be one major supply of cannabis. set price major farms. its possible. it would put every body out of business. and gov could tax it.
There is always room at the top for the best.

keeping it illegal to sell wouldn't stop ppl from selling it anymore than it does now. it would really only keep big business out of it as well as preventing gov from taxing it. If the gov can't make money off it, they will ignore it.
Really? If the government cant make money off of it they will find a way of making money off of it..No one operates in their neighborhood without paying protection money.Just like the Mafia.
