I haven't used bleach, just have heard that its not good for the plants in the long run. Did you try to flush with fresh pH water for 24 hours? The slime could be from your nutrients, how do you add your nutes to your res? I normally fill a second res mix my nutes and pH the water out to 5.8 i then use a pump and fill my main res with the new water, every 2-3 days i will top off with nutrient water or fresh pH water depending on my PPM. I have noticed that if you add nutes directly to your res that they will build up on the top of the root bundle and cause it to slime up, then shortly after lockout occurs! I stick to my method and have had no issues! Give it a shot and let us know the results!!!

that is a great freaking idea mastiff..good eye on ya...see thats why i love this forum man...sometimes it takes someone else to point out the obvious...this isnt the first time it happened either! the bleach-gate controversy is a never ending one most likely..some people swear by it and some people swear by not using it...so far (only about a week or so) i havent seen problems only white roots

what youre suggesting tho is a solution that may alleviate my need to use the bleach as a chlorine supplement..and if me and the plants can get off the "B" without withdrawal than im all for it

the way i do it is i fill with plain tap...let it circulate a bit...add my nutes one at a time, only about 20 seconds apart or so...letting it all circulate a bit longer...check pH..maybe check pH again..and then adjust it once i know its settled in...why should i put my plants through this?!?! DUH!

im going to prepare my solution a few days earlier n then add it into the system premixed next time n see what happens

cheers!

mastiff (or anyone out there that may have some insight on this), do you think i should cut the dead looking roots off of my plants? the white berry has some infected on her tap root...i would stay away from this stuff...but all the other shit...u think i could just yank it off? i dont want it lingering around causing more problems than its worth

how liberal would i be? would i strip anything brown or only the really decaying looking stuff

thanks

I have read that it is okay to remove up to the bottom 6 inches of root mass, try to keep your res temps down from 68-78 to prevent that dreaded root rot! As for the slimy brown up top, run the fresh pH water for the 24 hours as i said above, with about 3% H202 in your water, NO NUTES.

Can you provide more pictures, you may just have build up of your nutrients on the root bundle which is not nearly as bad as root rot and may just seem to look like the symptoms?!

Below is some info from a website about hygrozyme, a beneficial microbe enzyme that attacks pythium root rot.

Hygrozyme, used at 10mL-15mL per gallon will ensure that any dead organic matter that finds its way into the growing systems will be consumed and converted into a usable mineral matrix for your plants. Hygrozyme works great for this purpose and has the added benefit of being a bacteria free enzyme concentrate. When trying to remove a pathogen I don’t see much point in adding new bacteria into the system. (Yes, some enzyme concentrates DO contain bacteria in addition to the enzymes.) Hygrozyme is also great to use to clean your equipment mid-cycle. It has no toxic ingredients, leaves behind no residues, is OMRI certified and is completely safe for any types of plants whether in soil or hydroponics. (http://www.hygrozyme.info)

Best of luck, lets see the pictures!

its been quite the week already...i cant catch up on shit no matter what i do

anyway...here are some pics i just took tonight...you can see what i mean by the rot on the bottom...all the old roots...the new stuff looks good tho, right?!?

theres something going on with the ice cream...no doubt...and the pandora has just seemed to be frozen in time...doesnt seem to be doin much of anything lately..idk

you think the state of the ice cream is just the first flag of another, larger problem lurking with the nutes and the res?

i need to grab some clones off the white berry and the sensi for me and a buddy...he is sayin he cant take clones yet cuz theyre too small...im sayin i wanna take the clones now, let them veg another week to shake it off n then flip to 12/12...i need to get some flowers growin here

ive never cloned before...what do you think, could i take some of the healthy stuff towards the bottom for clones?

You need to provide the following;
res temp
pH
humidity
temp of space
nutrients
PPM

how much oxygen do you have pumping to the buckets?

res temp is around 65 deg F...idk the temp inside the buckets in the grow tent...the res is outside the tent...the pH is all over the place...i try to maintain 5.5-5.8 but it fluctuates from 5-6.4...the humidity is 60% but i dont believe the reading cuz it seems really dry in there...the temp inside is 88 at the very bottom of the light and 77 at the canopy...im using technaflora recipe for success veg stage at around 70%...BC grow, bc boost, magical, & sugar daddy...the last batch i added a few tablespoons of bc bloom and root 66 because the sensi and white berry looked hungry for P and i thought the root 66 would help out the roots a bit more...right now ppms are 740

in the res i have 2 air pumps pumping three 3" air stones...i also have a bypass valve from the recirc system that trickles water on the surface of the res 24/7...i have another air pump, one of the acitve air commercial air pumps, blowing an air line into each bucket...each of those air lines ends in a mister i plug into the end of the line to create some air mist into the water...works out ok

im going to change the res again either tomorrow night or saturday afternoon and would like to chop off all the dead shit if i could without killing the plants

the ice cream looks worse now too..something is most def messed up with her and i have no idea what she needs or what she needs less of

i trimmed some dead looking roots...changed the res...increased the ppms a bit....gonna let it circulate for awhile and take pH and ppm readings

long time no post

figured im due for a quick update

i couldnt get the pH figured out with the technaflora nutes so i ended up going back to lucas GH...about 3 res's ago

im a few days over 1 week into flowering...the auto is in the back and looks like she'll start filling up soon

i lost the ice cream mutant plant to rotted rockwool cubes...i learned my lesson the hard way on that one...i think im going to go to neoprene/hydroton next time around (in hpa...)

anyway the sensi and the white berry are looking great...this pic was from the night before they went into flowering...they are a little bigger now and have more developed bud sites

ill post more pics soon

thanks for tuning in

They are looking pretty good man, you should get another thermometer for your buckets inside of the tent to find out what those temps are, i recently found out that i was having some root issues and have battling it ever since..its a huge pain in the ass once you get the signs of root rot. I ended up having high res temps and i lowered them with frozen water bottles. I use H202 every 4 days and Orca to inhibit new root growth, so far they have been doing better. Most of my lower bud sites pistils are starting to die back, i have the two small plant sites in the front that are barely hanging on for life, i need them to survive until i harvest, i cannot afford for them to die and have dead roots in the res for the rest of the flower...Anyways enough of my ranting, yours are looking good keep up the work!

im going to post some new pics and catch up with the grow

so ive missed some time

here is some back log:

i couldnt get the technaflora RFS to stabilize pH so i went back to lucas GH and things seem to have done a 180

seemingly no more deficiencies (lockout) and no more growth stunts!

here are some pics from their final week in veg...they were under the screen and these are without the screen so that is why they look so weird

roots seems to be doing 1000 times better

there is the occasional spotting however...im running at ~800 ppm trying to keep pH 5.5-5.8...sometimes it still creeps on me up to 6.1-6.2 but i think its cuz im only using 7 gallons now

note the ice cream mutant plant is gone...rockwool rot ate her from her belly up...not good at all

i switched them over on the 2nd

i also removed the 4th bucket from the system during a res change...my water table improved from the move and i have more room in the tent as well

the white berry and sensi have about 3 clones each taken from them...i let a friend take them to start some moms up to keep around in our grow circle

the auto pandora is in the back...her package says 55 days from seed...today is 53!

lol

she doesnt appear to be nowhere near done...although she is ahead of every one else in the tent

the sensi has more developed bud sites than the white berry but the WB is also supposed to be a quicker flowerer..errer

no roots pics tonight as im not messing with the screen right now...ill post some over the weekend if i have some time but they look great now

there is still some spotting here and there and the occasional dead leafage at the bottom of the plant but im thinking for the most part its pretty normal/common

the temp gauge shows the 79 deg in the tent but the sensor is really close to the light and about 5 inches above the canopy...the sensor shown in the pictures is not the one that is reading out the LCD display in the pic...that sensor in the pic is for a remote temp LCD readout i have in another room

the screen is filling up nicely and im liking the stretch of both these strains

im wondering if i should take more growth from down below now or just let it go?

there is one pic that is taken from beneath the canopy looking up at the light...there is barely any light penetration!

thanks for checking out the grow and please leave some comments!
