Dude. I would have voted for a law that lets people possess lots of weed. sell lots of weed. hold lots of weed. smoke lots of weed. Wouldn't you? IF you're thinking the medical way of life is cool and we're good and should stop now and not change anything any more then we have a difference of opinion. these evil corporations will be serving us pot...lots of it making it not illegal to have lots of pot on us so they can sell us more pot. now it's been illegal this whole time save a few recent years to grow plants in your house for your consumption and LOTS of people been doing it anyway. why is that going to change? It won't, you'll just have a great reason for having all this weed on your person....its legal to do so. officer, I don't care why you think this pot doesn't look like state issued pot-it is man. M'kay...bye officer have a nice day.

no fence sitting here...

read it..

are you okay with people, "agents" who can transfer MORE meds, possess MORE plants, cultivate and have more rights than YOU. even though you VOTED to have them for yourself and other patients/caregivers.

agents of provisioning centers do not have to be patients or caregiviers and... oh what do they get to PROVE they are allowed to do this?

a piece of paper signed!!!!!!!!!!!

REMEMBER HOW THAT USED TO PUT US IN JAIL!?!?!?!

ignorance has gotten the bes of you if you are growing plants and think you will continue to do so once this passes. homw growing is the last thing the people in control of this bill want. and soon we will lose it much like all the rest.

becasue you guys wont stand up for your rights.

this bill is a nail in the coffin and one more ready to ban half the state and regional monopolies for the rest...

Rep Irwin told me this... well why can you guys just come to ann arbor? or i laughed when he said his constituencies in ann arbor can start delivery models for the people in the north then!
Now this i get; i like having dispensary as an option but nothing is more important to me than my own grow.

regulate ...regulate....control and regulate C&T...
.until they regulate 'us' out of the equation......
its a dialectic and mayb you dont get it but if you support this you will understand who really wins.....

i think MattA sold you his bullshit speech witht he rest of the Jtown crew trying to hold on to their distribution networks they have built

which they will inevitably loose if they cant pay the huge regulation licensing fees once this comes online...

cg WILL be designated as home based occupation and subject to all the rules and regs that go along with business out of your house...

did you make it up to the open air gc3 pot market?

that is your best recourse if your looking to sling erb right now.....
i dont intend to change a thing except go back off the grid and radar....good luk to all you that think this is the answer...

these dispensaries will be run by big $ and wont be buying anyones little 1-2-3 light grow overages.....

i could post 4-5 more articles of cities and twnships developing ordinances to regulate home growing.....i dnt have time and interweb is dead and not worth bickering anymore for me.....

this is a concerted nationwide effort to put the grow and distribution rights into the hands of a few ....thats it

so they can pay the huge legal fees and be taxed acccordingly by folks like rep jones who hate mmj and all it brings...they will regulate it out till their big corp friends can cash in.....think bro-

dont buy the bullshit ....it is not for us little guys....

taxation at up to 75% will effectively kill most clubs like the 60% drop since colorado implemented their new regulations....
if we dont kill this whats left of the law is toast!

i think it doesnt matter tho and i know more about this than i care to type....

this is a national effort to reign it in......
support this and you wil see the rel truth at your expense.....
peace bro-

Douglas approves medical marijuana growing, distribution rules

DOUGLAS, MI - Growing and providing medical marijuana will be restricted to Douglas' commercial and light industrial areas, under a new ordinance approved by the City Council.
Passing a trio of regulations controlling the locations for growing, processing and distribution of medical marijuana plus the licensing of growers and limitations on caregivers, Douglas on Monday became one of the first area municipalities to adopt rules for legal medical marijuana use, which was approved by Michigan voters in 2008.

Laketown Township, Saugatuck City and Saugatuck Township councils have all decided to wait on approving ordinances until getting further direction from Lansing or state courts.

Zeeland Township Council on Tuesday, May 21, is to vote on marijuana control ordinances.
“We wanted to be ahead of the curve and determine what our local regulations should be and how caregivers could set up and operate within the city,” said Douglas Mayor Jim Wiley, noting that discussions with the city attorney brought them to the conclusion it was the time to make decisions.
“I don’t how many people in Douglas have need for medical marijuana or who will be caregivers, but we feel they need a structure to work under within the city,” Wiley said.
City attorney Phillip Erickson advised council that in his opinion “there was no need to wait on further (Michigan) Supreme Court decisions to enact the proposed ordinances.”
Douglas voters in 2008 approved the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act by 79 percent - the largest majority of any Allegan County municipality.
Under the newly-enacted ordinances and in accord with state law, Douglas city will allow registered primary caregivers to grow medical marijuana for as many as five qualified patients plus themselves. Dispensaries - which imply large-scale distribution - are not permitted under the ordinances.
In addition to limiting marijuana growing operations to commercial and light industrial zones south of the city and along Blue Star Highway, the ordinances require growing operations be at least 50 feet from any residential home, 1,000 feet from a school and 500 feet from churches libraries and other caregiver operations.

'just another' provisioning center, or will yours be unique somehow? Why do you want to open a dispensary anyway?

Just heard a story on NPR today about a seller from California that made a choice a few years back to move to NY to sell cannabis instead of continuing in CA. Had something to do w a serious glut out west. Guess michigan is soon on it's way to over-production and all the follies that go along with that.

I heard the same story. It had nothing to do with glut and overproduction. For years the price of pot has been propped up by a severe shortage. The price drops out west are due to a restoration of balance in supply and demand. A pound of pot should be as cheap as a pound of tomatoes.

Pot should be as cheap as tomatoes? Really... gonna cover yer overhead w that? We didn't listen to the same NPR story dude. subjectivity can be hilarious, no disrespect. We just hear differently, haa...btw - when pot goes from 4000/lb down to 1500 because of supply, it's called a glut in the market.

If growing pot was unregulated like it should be people would be growing fields of it. It's funny how last time in California they tried to legalize pot cops and moms were campaigning for it but growers were campaigning against it since they didn't want the price of pot to drop with all the new grows that would start.

shitz complicated no doubt, everyone's indiv motive is inplay really. I don't see a great overall answer.. back after much medication... much change will ocurr, that much I know for certain. lol

The township regulates that silly... comercial grows are a bad idea we dont need no Prairie cave weed sorry.. 2.5 every 10 days well what if i need more? what if i need concentrates? the bill has flaws like any bill so i say gut it and come back the the table.. the foundations supports safe access but the garbage inbetween is just more ways for control of a plant.. remember if we comercial grows we will NOT have caregiver system as we do now... the meds become below our standards like colorado

Look I'm all for legalization. To say this bill increases the regulations on marijuana is silly. This bill gives more opportunities to grow, and distribute marijuana. Is it the total legalization I would like no however it does allow for increased distribution.

Having listened to the morning session of the committee, it appears the members are brainstorming larger issues, and not to exclude, 4271. A remark was made alluding to the notion that they are taking the longer view regarding cannabis use, to include both medical and recreational.

Quite a few of the committee members where asking things along the lines of what is the next step in the process. They often hinted at this bill being a small step in larger reform. Greg may remember some of the exact quotes. It really did seem as though the committee members where genuinely interested in gathered information about how the mmma is actually being implemented on the ground, how it can be improved, what obstacles these improvements are running up against, and how hb 4271 or different future legislation can help facilitate a safer, more easily accessible mmmp.

I think it may have been Cavanaugh, and I cannot remember even to paraphrase (I smoke dope), but he made a remark that left me with that impression. This is not conclusive, and we will see more in the afternoon session.
