My setup is only : RED 10W , BLUE 5W each and the CFL 20W!
Can you tell me where can I get the UVB LEDS????
Thanks!!!

Hmmmm....

441.6 lumens per watt....

Maybe when they did their LUX test, they did it in a 1/4 meter room (instead of a 1square meter room?)? =) That would give more plausible results.

at 441.6 lumens per watt, that would be INSANE (I don't believe it) (maybe I'm stupid and I'm doing the conversions incorrectly?) =)

Those pic's show a date of 05.... During 05, research labs finally were able to produce LED's that produced 150 lumens per watt (I'm not even sure you can buy those comerically yet)?

At any rate, the only way to find out for sure is to TRY IT!!! =)

Be sure to post back in another couple weeks with a progress update! =)

Cheers,

UVB LEDs can be purchased on Ebay or from an (online) electrical lighting supplier, 2 things though, you don't need them until you induce flowering (they make the plant create slightly more trichomes and expand the cannabinoid profile of the weed) and you can move those LED fixtures WAYYYYY close to those plants to keep them nice and short and allow them to absorb more light, remember light intensity is a inverse square law so it gets A LOT weaker the farther it is away, I'd say you can put the LEDs within a half inch of the babies, especially if you can't feel any heat from those fixtures.

Thanks!
The red light a little bit warm! I moved the base up to 4"! The temperature is 79.5F IONIZED! The air cooler on its way to my home! They getting water every day but not on the top of the soil...

Yeh man deffently get those LEDS closer to the plants, or you will be losing alot of the lumens. Closest you can get without burning them. This will give you best results. Also CFL can get close as well.

Also I would get a moisture meter, you said your watering everyday, that seems a bit much, but perhaps they need it, im not sure. Also those pots are kinda big to start off in, they will do though, but starting in smaller ones would have gave you a bigger root mass.

I hope everything goes good man : )

ok this shows how much people have researched. we all have opinions, whatever.

so here's what my research says:

lumens is how visible light is to humans. it doesnt mean anything to plants.

green leds of the same watt of blue will appear many many times brighter than the blue, bc green is in the dead center of max human vision. the blue is just as bright, it just doesnt appear that way to people. the plant is opposite. the dim blue and red glow of the led is brighter to them than the green light.

so why are hid's measured in lumens? bc 1 people dont know any better and 2 they werent originally measured with pot growers in mind. its for people to see.

so, if u have 1 watts of green, and 1 watt of blue, i think the lumen difference is somewhere between 100 and 600x. meaning 1 watt of green puts off 600 something lumens, 1 watt of blue would be like... 3 lumens. i dont really feel like looking up a chart, but u can find one with google.

also, uvb leds can burn your eyes and skin. so uh.. why is everyone just recommending them? a lot of non-led growers giving a lot of risky and b.s. led information.

you should check out "cogi's LED grow" on reefermanseeds.com as a starting point, then moving onward from there. its one of the best LED experiements with cannabis i've seen, including building setups and pictures of growing. unfortunately he lost his crop to root rot later on, but seeing his setup and read the material is great.

much love

your putting a lot more light on the plants than you think.

edit: heres some info

see how green looks way brighter to our eyes? HID have a lot of green output, which accounts for a lot of its lumen output. on this scale look at the bottom numbers between 420-470nm, and 620-740nm. these are the ranges that plants use best. it barely registers in our eyes. oh, and somewhere in the 500nm is a peak for beta carotine production.. we see pretty well in that. dunno if it matters much or at all in canabis

oh i didnt mention this.., just bc some light isnt as visible to our eyes, doesnt mean it can't hurt them. staring directly into a lot of blue or red LEDs can damage your eyes, even if it doesnt look that bright. kind of like staring at an eclipse. of course, uva or uvb leds will do this much more quickly. so always research before you experiment and be careful.

big article in my local paper today about how LED will soon replace CFL's. CFL's have mercury(?) in them. if you break one do not vacuum, sweep and dispose of in a wrapped bag. CFL's use a heated element to produce light, LED's use electrons. i think this is really going to change the world of growing. think how many people don't grow more because of electrical costs. if they get this dialed..........

Thanks for the advice! Can somebody confirm that how much I can get if the swat smash my door?? Im living in the US!
Conspiracy to grow cannabis is probably penalised about the same as actually growing some. I don't think you'll actually be growing much with LEDs, so look up the conspiracy charges...

The LED makers' comparison photo of LEDs to MH is downright nefarious. There's no way on earth that's an accurate comparison.

FUCKING AWESOME. I broke one of my CFLs today -OVER- my plants, I was trying to losen it so it would go off. Should I dispose of the plants?

Someone ought to tell the local paper about the arsenic (gallium arsenide) and other evil heavy metals in LEDs.

Ain't no free lunch, man. :D

leds never produce results even remotely close to hid or even cfl from what ive seen on other forums. just lead to stretch and gangle
