600 Watt HPS in a 6L x 5w x 7T

Okay, so I'm starting a perpetual grow this coming January in a 6'Lx5'Wx7'T walk in closet. I live in Texas, and before I go spending money on a lights I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of which would be "better" a 400 watt or 600 watt? And by better I mean could I keep a 600 watt cool in an area that size? I'd rather not use a 400.

The plan was to use an enclosed hood with one end open to the room to draw air across the light and the other end hooked up to an inline duct fan (say 440cfm) pulling the air out of the hood through ducting and a Carbon Scrubber then out a vent cut into the door.

Now I will either build a Box inside the closet to hold the mother plant and clones or a box for two 2x2 trays. Only one area will be in a box with the other area open to the whole closet.

Obviously the 400 watt would be easier to keep cool, but I want to use a 600 for those big yields. There will be two box fans pushing air around the closet. I'm just worried about the 100+ degree Summers. DSCN1064.jpg

Kind of a rough drawing of what I'd like to do. flowering box and mother/clone area on the left side and a small drying box with with some built in computer fans on the right. Need y'all to help critique it and point out any obvious flaws.

go with a 1000w !! and get a 8" exhaust fan...you have more space then i do and i have 1 1000w light. running on a 1000w dimmable Galaxy ballast with "super charge". its tits!!!and i live somewhere, were its hotter then where you live. and i have 1 portable a/c unit in my room and its never above 77 inside the tent with lights out and with lights and exhaust going its 75 or lower...!!

well, i see your first mistake. it says flower room week 1-4....its the veg that is first. you will be vegging your plants for 1-4 weeks. but you can also go by the height of your plants instead. like i should have, lol!

Its a sea of green perpetual grow. once they are rooted in the veg section its straight to the first flower tray. the reason for two trays is I want to harvest sixteen within a given time period so after four weeks they go into the second tray mostly so that I can flush for the last week or two. if that makes sense.

Do you have the heat exhausting from the A/C exhausting anywhere? I have a 5500btu portable doesnt seem to be putting heat out the back but who knows.

you are trying to accomplish the same exact thing i am. i want to harvest the same in roughly the same amount of time. and yes! my exhaust from my a/c is hot, and it is being exited out of the room.

Yeah I'm thinking harvest 16 once a month. If I can get it dialed in and get one ounce per plant I'll be set haha. How do you exhaust yours out? some kind of DIY attachment on the back with some ducting?

go with the 6 im kicking myself in the ass for getting the 400
Definitely gonna get the 6. I'll be starting in January so I'll have a few months to get dialed in before summer hits me. At worst I have to find a way to rig up an A/C in there.

Okay, in lieu of starting a whole new thread. I also plan to purchase a medium sized co2 tank and all the necessary components. I know its best to have the room 'sealed' but what exactly constitutes sealed? So far my only plan to seal off the room was to get some good thick weather stripping to put around the frame of the door and something to put on the bottom of the door. The exhausted air will be going through ducting but the intake was just going to be a vent cut and placed into the bottom of the door either passive or active with some type of small fan pulling air in. Now with the whole room being sealed and only one vent for intake im sure it will pull in outside air nicely but is this going to affect my use of co2? Don't wanna buy it and waste it ya know.
