600W or T5

i use a 6 bulb t5 for veg and 600 for flowering. Tubes are great for veg IMO. I haven't tried to veg with an HID yet. I also run a 24/0 schedule so that could be why i results. I'd like to see some science behind if any.
every book you read says you can veg with fluros, some recommend it, but they never state what works better.
.....yeah i'm one of those guys who reads books, ask questions, and googles shit i want to find out about growing.... some of us are frowned upon for some reason.

I have run both. I have 8 four foot t-5 bulbs I veg under now which work great but i must say I got faster growth under a 600w MH conversion bulb running on a digital ballast. So now I just make my cuttings a week earlier.

I like the t5's more though because they are much more energy efficient and do not put nearly the same amount of heat off of the bulbs as compared to a single 600w. you also get completely even coverage with the light because it is so spread out- no hot spots resulting from using a hood.

hey duuuude, I'm down for using old ass Tx tubes, but when are you going to check out LED? I don't mean those fancy $500 pink panels, I mean regular 3watt whites for veg... how are these internodes?

they are super tight, but that has so so much more to do with lots of reasons other than lighting
Could you share a little? I'm kinda noobish myself, but I always thought that some good blues can make tight internodes...what else can add to it?
My setup is hydro bubbleponic, 2 part nutritive solution basic, 3watt LED array, 24 hour lights, no heat in the grow space, cool temps in the res and at the plant, 5 watt airpump, wittle bucket of bubbly tap water, PHed around 5.8

p.s. I don't use any medium... she just hangs down in the res

Genetics trumps everything. That you can't change and at the same time it is the most important. So pick good strains, pop multiple seeds and pick the best to grow a mother out of. You then want to take clones from the shoots low on the plant, this is where the hormones are the newest. Try to cut uniform clones so that they grow evenly. The cuttings can have as many nodes as you like, i recommend two, just remember to keep it the same for all of them.

Having good lighting keeps your plants from stretching which will give you the optimum node spacing meant for that strain. With the proper lighting they can reach their genetic potential. When their is a lack of lighting they will stretch out.
