Well this is my first post and my first indoor grow. I have had outdoor success on my ranch, in tx I plant late october and flower from seed through winter.but indoors is completely different. I don't know how to put up pictures from my phone just yet but its 2 35 gallon rubbermaids on top of eachother lined with quality foiltape. I feel it prevents mold and still reflects pretty good. I'm using half perlite half mg african violet and so far just distilled water and cal/mag. This will be an interesting trial grow for me. I have 20 babies from bagseed 4 appear to be indicas and the rest sativa. All are 1 week old except 2 that are 2 weeks. No pics but they are really growing, the 14 day old plants are on its 2nd set of 7 leaves. I'm worried though some of the seedlings mainly the indicas are showing little brown dots and are burning, it looks like the hair/hooks on the seedlings are brown could I have to much light .heat is about 70 tips aren't doing any curling or anything. Well my long winded first post is done. Hopefully ill be back with pics

Well I moved the lights up a couple inches and they are doing a little better but seem to be stretching slightly nevertheless they get a new set of leaves every other day and are looking gorgeous. I forgot to mention earlier the lightbulbs are the yellow ones ,I'm high and can't remember what they're called but I think my space is about 4 sqft and I have about 10,000 lumens per. My 7 day old ladies finally have there 2nd set of 5 bladed leaves coming in so I will be flowering this weekend when sets of 7 show and they can handle more light. Hopefully I get an oz per plant or so. I'll have the wife create me a photobucket in the next day or two when we can get to internet, I'm not so good with computer crap. Anyways I noticed a couple gnats in my garden maybe ill put them sticky trap things on the lights. I put a layer of perlite on top of dirt hoping its not quite as attractive as dirt and I hear they don't like to lay eggs in it.

Aha! I remeber now they are soft white ones. Well I guess ill describe my set up better since I'm tying again. I have 24 light bulbs on good ole y connectors to socket adapter and are plugged into a 6 outlet extension cord of which there are 4 of. They don't get too hot which is why I Prefer small wattage and more of em plus I don't need much penetration. I keep the heat off in that room so it stays about 60 and the garden 70 ish. I was surprised I could grab the lights and they dont burn me. I love cfls even though its my first grow using lights I don't see why you would go for hps unless you had a commercial grow.

Just noticed 2 of my sativa seedlings on the first set set of 3 leaves instead have 5 but only on one leaf the other is set of 3. I really need to get some pictures up, also is it ok if your perlite develops a yellow to orange fungus? It doesn't appear to effect the plants

I'm not familiar with using perlite, as i use Fox Farm ocean forest right out of the bag. Pictures would really help.

From the description of your bulb, it sounds like you've got the 2700k range flowering ones. I've heard that using these bulbs during veg can cause the plants to stretch some, but I've never had to use that color in veg so i've never experienced it. Are your plants kinda stretchy for the growth that they already have?

I'm on my first grow, and i'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but as far as getting an ounce from what you have, It sounds like that could be some wishful thinking. Really depending on the strain's yield. I dont use rubbermaids, so i dont have a good guess for how big they are, but i wouldn't imagine that 20 flowering plants could fit in there, even if you were 12/12 from seed. Again, i could be wrong.

Good luck for your grow, get us some pics!

Hey thanks for the input, I checked out your grow and they are coming along nicely I can't wait till mine get frosty. And it is tight , the idea was to see how many I can stuff in and get good bud. maybe a bit optimistic on quantity how does a half oz per sound. My plan is to get a super compact sog and I have quite a bit of light so no stretching even with those bulbs. And for anyone interested they are about 8 per sqft I'm not using pots they are just chillin together in the tub. But I grew in this same set up outdoors because if by the off chance we get snow (like that will happen!!) Sleet and rain seem to only effect the outside plants giving me a ring of males around my garden, I pull those when they show and my compact sog will survive through the winter! I wouldn't recommend growing in winter however like today its 75 out so good for growing

I was re reading my outdoor strategy and it sounds kinda crappy and just a makeshift way to grow weed. Its really not though. In the summer it is normal for us not to drop below a 100 for a month straight. That killed my first crop. So I tried planting around thanksgiving and they survived the first freeze and 3in of snow but most were hermies except the ones that were crouded so next winter I put down seed flower through winter and remove a couple hermies (only sativas seem to have that problem for me outdoors) but they are quite crowded and I remove flowers twice since it stays 12/12 outside and they are always quite good. The proximity of the plants never seemed to effect bud quality

Quick update, lowered the lights after raising cause they started to stretch and I obliterated their very lowest leaves. They were showing signs of stress which is why I raised the light oh well. They look really good except a little spidery. I don't know how to describe it the leafs and whole structure of the plant are thin and whispy kinda gnarly spider like. I don't know I'm high

I've been slacking on my journal mainly because at rollitup you can't upload picks from your phone like you can on the other forums. But eventuall ill get to a computer and fix up this journal. I started flowering on saturday and all of a sudden it smells like planty rubbery cheese-its. Pretty funky, I'm gonna get some carbon filters on friday. I don't exhaust outside rather I filter the air circulating around in the room and bring fresh air in from a different part of the house. I'm not too worried about odors, any smell goes out a 2nd floor window I don't think anyone can smell it
But anyway i have 25 flowering babies between 1 and 3-4 weeks

I do see that they are beginning to get inefficient I've got another grow box with the same lights now and a few over the not yet in use clone box. Which is close to 1500watts

I almost forgot about this. Really I love rollitup but other forums you can upload straight from your phone not using links or anything.

But. I pulled 2 males out and have 1 female with hairs everywhere. Had to get more fans. I'm so ready to move out of tx. We haven't had a freeze all winter and now its over we've been in the 80s and my plants hate it, started adding fertilizer. And I germed 6 more seeds. Should have my perp grow going with smoke ready by 4/20:)

Ended up with 14 possibly 15 but I think 1.is a male that's just taking its time. But 14 out of 25 plants isn't too bad.

My slow to show sativas suddenly exploded with white hairs leaving my eariler showing indicas a little behind. And 6 seeds popped out of the ground, got 6 more I'm about to put in..I'm attemting to harvest every 2 weeks with seed until I get my g13 seeds pineapple express to start cloning, which will be when I upgrade my lights
Cause its time for tax money to come in!

Alrighty. 14 is the official count, it did finally get balls.

My sativas are absolutely gorgeous, I've been pushing them to their very limits (lighting wise) and they have bout 1/4in nodes... I'm doing this hoping along with some super cropping to let my indicas catch up. The indicas have inch nodes and are growing rapidly, I hope this doesn't effect quality, I want the indicas to "

The indicas have inch nodes and are growing rapidly, I hope this doesn't effect quality, I want the indicas to "stretch" so they will get closer to the lights and tighten up in the end..

Also I've been arguing with my dad about the term supercropping, he says that refers to squishing and letting it bend or flop over to create bushiness...

I squeeze the stems just barely so I feel some mushiness, and this strengthens the stem keeping them short

Started again cause my phone is slow,

So is that super cropping or what would that be?

I have 5 plants that are looking a bit better than the rest. Lol I only have 6 different phenos. Smells haven't been an issue as long as the grow room isn't shut up then when you open the door its like a wall. Not really developed though, when does aroma really get its fine characteristics. Its still really early some are just starting to fill with white hairs. But it just smells like marijuana not berry skunk or anything sort of a mix of all to create just a smell of weed?

Sorry I'm rambling I just smoked the last of my stash.. Bummer:(

This was my basic closet tub grow
2 36 gallon tubs on top of each other
Taylor-20130214-00801.jpg

That would be an indica hybrid I'm trying to let sretch
What is the cause of the claw like leaves, only on 2 or 3 of em

So I found double serrated leaves on my favorite indica. Lookd it up found.... A bunh of nonsense

Anyway I checked back and atleast half of my plants are sowing this. And I know all aren't cheese or skunk. So I tried to find a correlation to the eagle claws and I'm thinking its too much nitrogen.

Alright so on left we got my christmas tree shaped sativa, 1 of 2. Then is my double serrated plant you can compare to leaves next to it, I really like the wayshe looks. There's no hope for my indicas getting light. So even though they are stretching rapidly the sativas have such tight nodes and are growing faster!
So ill exchange a few 23 watt light with 42 to help give them light

Well I'm off to smoke their parents..

Alright just got done watering and messin with my plants. The sativas are between 22inches and 2feet and my indicas are 12-14 inches with one crazy one at like 17. So today I'm getting a bit more light for them. I'm not really sure as I've always been an outdoor grower but I don't have anything to get rid of smell and it doesn't really stink unless I seal the house up.. And they are budding kinda so maybe it won't ever really stink.
Anyway for anyone that stumbles upon this.... I have 2 sativas 6 weeks old, then 4 hybrids and 5 sativas that are 5 weeks old, and finally I have 3 sativas that are 4 weeks old
All have been flowering for 3weeks.... And these numbers are by exact:) I only work on my plants on the weekend
I also have 12 seedlings I planted last week but I don't think I'm gonna put them in this.

Well I probly won't update again for a couple weeks, let my plants do their thing then ill put uP their progress
