I got a 4x4 grow tent and was planing on putting 16 3gallon pots in a 4x4 space but now im thinking 9 3gallon pots might be better for higher yields since there would be more room... Eather way i need to yield 1.5lbs.
For this tent i will be using 1000w hps aircooled hood with 8"fan etc,etc

If anyones put 16 or 9 3gallon pots in a 4x4 space under a 1000w's id love to hear how it turned out.....

you need roughly a gallon per foot of growth (or so ive been told lol). so with your space being 4x4 and your hps light/hood probably taking up a bit of space i would say 9 3 gallon pots should do it.

Im doin the experiment right now with 2gallons and 4gallons with the same strains. I highly recommend 3's or even 4's. My 4's have double the size nugs all the time. However I LST'd both aswell. You can go square pots to make more use of space. Bigger pots will do more for you IMHO

so instead of 9 3gallons i could go 9 4gallons with less room between plants....that could be an idea

ya ive read that you need a gallonfor every foot but my question is not about pot size but more a about how many pots to use......i figured 3 gallon pots would be perfect size just cant diciede weather to do 9 or 16 iguess i could 12 too..

Hard to say.... But I will tell you this, More plants dont necessarily mean more yield. FACT :)

yes i would agree thats why im trying to find the perfect ratio of most plants with best yield for the space i have.....i guess ill just need to try 9 and 16 and see which crop yields the most........i cant seem to find anyone who has done 16 or 9 3gallon pots in a 4x4 space...... so i guess it will be up to me to figure it out

Ok i did 8, 5 gallon pots and got a little over 16ounces. I wouldve got more but 4 weeks was done under a 400w hps and the other 4 weeks was done under a 1000w hps. Now im doing a perpetual where I got 7 plants 3 in 3 gallon pots and 4 in 5 gallons pots. Im looking at about 12 ounces per month.
