Those blue "check valves" are not needed if your air pump sits higher than the water level in your res or DWC system.
Never had mine interfer with air flow before, although I no longer use them.
My air pump sits on my hood so the light doesn't heat it and my air up.
The rubber feet keeps them from getting hot while on my hood.

This looks good. I'm excited. Do you like those little blue things on the airhose? Mine always ended up interfering with the airflow and I always ended up taking them off. Just had to make sure the tube was in a safe configuration as directed by the manufacturer.
I'm actually not sure if I like those little blue air things... Not really sure what they do, I just saw it in the instructions and put on there because it said to...
Does it mess with the air pressure...? Should I take it off...?
I have never ran the air pump with out those on it... Should I try it and see what it does or will it hurt my Clone if to much air is given to her....? :leaf:

Oh yeah and those CNS17 Nutrients are pretty bad ass, they have really shown and made a huge difference with my Clone...
She has shown new growth, bright ass green leaves and it all happened over night... :) Today is day 2 of using the CNS17 Nutrients and she is still doing great,
I will be posting updated pictures in a couple days or so... Give her some time to surprise you all on her progress undergoing the CNS17 Nutrients...

I again thank everyone for there input and help on my growing experience, I have come along way so far and still have a lot more to learn... I will be making a grow
journal when my seeds come in... I ordered 20 Big Bang Feminized Seeds, I am going to see how these will turn out using the DWC Setup also... I am liking so far
how the DWC Setups work and how easy everything is to do during the grow process's... Loving it..! :leaf:

Thank you for the info, I might give that a try also...
But what is your opinion on the little blue air things...? ("Check Valves") Is that what they are really called....?

They are for safety to make sure water doesn't go backwards into the pump. As long as your pump is above your water level, physics dictates that it wont happen. Most people just play it safe naturally and don't need the check valve. They also are just another piece of machinery that breaks and wears down. Change them out from some male to male connectors. Cost you a buck.

Maybe I will run a test with one off and see the results, I just don't want those check valves reducing the flow of air to my little ones...
I will give it a shot and get back to all of ya... :leaf:

Thanks again...

nice grow you have, glad you found a good nute solution that worked for you. do those containers only hold a quart of water, and how often do you have to add water to the rez? i am thinking something small too, maybe a folgers coffee container, they work great for soil!!

They are 2qt containers and I change the water about once to twice a week to keep her with a fresh and clean supply water instead of having pollutants and other things that maybe in the water over time... It is good to get into a habit of making sure your water is fresh and up to scale for your little ones I have found out, doing this DWC Setup isn't as low maintenance as I thought but I prefer this way over soil and day, from my last experience that didn't go so well...

I feel it is harder to grow using soil and not as easy to correct something with soil either, I feel that with really any hydroponic setup you can adjust and correct a mistake a lot more efficient and ease of trouble without as much hassle... Nutrients also I feel are more direct with hydroponics, soils medium makes up to much of a difference when it all comes down to it... Please correct me if I am wrong, I am still new and just basing all of this from my opinion and experience through out this whole small little grow operation...?
:leaf:

Oh and a couple small questions for everyone...

I was considering adding a Drip Setup to my DWC Setup, would that even make a
difference or would it be completely useless...?

And on that note, what if I instead of adding the Drip Setup could I added an Aeroponic Spray Setup combined with the DWC Setup...?

Or would all that be a waste as well...?

Please let me know ASAP, thank you everyone...!

Dude, you're style is so very similar to my own. I love DWC. I love RDWC

Although, I have recently fallen in love with Coco. It's like mother nature's hydroponic soil. Water/solution just drains through it and yet so much is held in. Just have a good size tray for waste collect.

Even more so, I have fallen in love with Coco in DWC. Then I hear that COCO NOT is amazing in DWC!?!? I haven't had enough time with actual COCO to start switching to COCO NOT!!!

The products on the market are overwhelming me.

Can you send me photo's of your setup please, I am interested in viewing so that I may have a basis to go off of to setup my RDWC... And I would love to see what you have been talking about for quite some time now...

Oh and do you recommend using the RDWC over plain and simple DWC...?

These little dots started forming on some of the leaves, not all of them, just mainly on the fan leaves so far and none on the newer growth....

DWC CLONE 1 Leaf Problem.jpg

Any ideas on what to do....?

Here is the break down if you haven't been following along in all the threads:

) I am using DWC Setup...
) Only 2qt containers with CNS17 Nutrient Solution "only 10ml added to 1gal of water then poured into 2qt container"...
) 24 Hour Lighting...
) pH is 5.8 to 5.9
) Temp at 22 to 23 Celsius
) PPM Meter hasn't come in yet so I am unsure on these readings....

I just want to fix this problem quickly here at the start so that it doesn't get progressively worse and cause her to die...

So what to do... What are my options...?

well it is probably a little much nutes for the young clone, change your rez to plain ph'ed water for a few days and see if it clears up. that is the only thing you have done to the plants since they started to look bad right? always eliminate anything that changed recently as it is most likely the cause of the sudden problem.

EDIT: oh, if you do this and they get better in a few days, then only go with prob 5ml of nutes to the gallon at next feeding. is clone 2 showing any of these sypmtons? just curious because I remember you aint feeding her yet.

hope it gets better for ya

If you go back a couple of pages you can see what happened to Clone 2... The leaves turned yellowish white and had dead brownish color
at the tips as the leaves where curling under as well... Clone 2 has actually rooted as of last night...! :) Finally, so now I have two clones
that will turn out great when they are ready to yield there fruits...

Even before I added the CNS17 Nutrients the leaves where already getting these spots... The CNS17 I don't think increased the problem, not
sure tho you would know more than me... I will flush the res, clean it and then add pH'ed Water to the res for a bit and see what happens...
I just don't want to keep shocking her from standard water to Nutrients back to standard then again back to the Nutrient water.... Is that even
ok for clones to undergo this...?

This is probably one of the best pages with examples of problems. I have some old pictures from last years Diesel Ryder in my profile. I have to get my grow journal going one of these days. But I use 2quart rubbermaid pitchers now. It's just one more quart than you are using. Essentially the same thing.
http://advancednutrients.com/hydroponics/articles/hydroponics-gardening/know-about-fixing-nutrient-problems.php#Molybdenum
Still I would like to see your setups and grows... Oh and is it ok to just grow all my plants in the same res, like get a rectangle box and just do it that way or
is the way I am doing it now better...? I just want to be ok in the long run instead of ending up screwed and not enough room to do everything....

I'm probably going to make some more advancements soon in the over all design of the grow box/ plant setup.... As well as the lighting is going to under go
a slight change but nothing to drastic resulting in harming my babies... :)

yeah, you can give her nutes and then switch to water. most hydro folks recommend every rez change or every other rez change go without nutes. maybe your water is hard and they are getting to many trace minerals from your water, dont remember if you mentioned what kind you use or not.

I don't like the multiple ones in boxes thing. I feel like that wastes too much water. Transferring to a larger bucket might be advisable. But keeping each strain in its own reservoir isolates a lot of variables and allows room for experimentation. Roots can ball up pretty hard in the pitchers though. I wish Root pots worked in DWC(for "air-pruning" the roots).

I guess I will go out and get the 3gal or 5gal buckets so that when my clones develop into there final stage they are going to need some room to stretch out and flower when in the flowering stage and even in the vegitive stage since I am still in that stage as we speak... I wana at least have about 2ft to 3ft trees when I am all done training them to stay smaller, not sure if my technic will work but I can only try my best as well as with the help from all of you out there I am pretty confident that we will make it through...

Oh and about your MSN Messenger Account, do you have one or can you set one up really quickly please....?

Hey everyone, I am trying out something new for me here at RollItUP.org so try to follow along with me as much as possible... Thank you all for working with me and for being so understanding though this all as well...

Ok so I would like everyone to use MSN Messenger with me, it is free and extremely easy to use and a lot faster of a response then here, photo sharing is 100% faster and alot more efficient...
Can we all try that out, please... I have a couple people wiling to help me out and go through with this, then we can create a chat room site or something, I am still working on it at the moment...

I am trying to put together a Chat Room on my Threads so that when the conversation get going we can just all go in the Chat Room and talk there... Use the Threads for main postings and quick questions and answers...

How does that sound to you all...?

Oh yeah my clones are going ok, CLONE 2 FINALLY ROOTED and she looks great...! I still have a lot of work to do to them, I switched out Clone 1's water to plain and simple Distilled Water, no nutrients... People where also saying it looked like nut lockout... Or possibly she isn't getting enough magnesium... Should I feed her some magnesium...? Epsom Salt believe it or not works perfect for Magnesium deficiency, I just want to make sure that is the problem before I add it to the water, if it isn't necessary then I don't want to add it... I don't think it will hurt her but still, I would like to play it safe...

I think I am going to make a RDWC soon, or just use 3 or 5 gal round buckets so I don't have to worry about space for the plant... Its just I don't think I have enough grow area here where I am at to use containers that big... Hmmm, I will figure out something here... I wana use a ok sized container, but definitely something larger than I am using right now for sure... :leaf:

I will have updates soon for every one, wana give her some time to surprise you all.... :)

So I decided to take one of my little clones and make her her own little separate grow area away from the others... So I used one of my old grow box's, I redid a few things, made a new light cover and all, mounted to air pump to the case as well, hooked up 2 LED flex lights for directional lighting as well for another experiment... 15 Watts a piece for the LED's... :leaf:

Any ways she is the other clone for my prior project that I am still under going as we speak and decided to mix things up a bit and try other methods in the DWC Setup's to further my knowledge and have successful grows...

I am using DWC like stated above, I am only using normal phed water at this point (pH 5.8 to 6.1) I have 1 CFL 35watt 6500K and 2 35wat White LED's and a CPU Fan roughly 35-40 CFM....

I will also be using CNS17 through out this project when the time comes, if you recommend me using something else please let me ASAP before I get to using the CNS17 on her... Also should I use a foliage spray on her at all...? If so should I use just water or make a foliage spray out of my CNS17 Nutrients, it has a formula designed for a foliage spray...?

Here are some pictures of the new setup and whats going on...

QUick nutrient question for a noob I transferred 3 of my plants thats had good roots coming out the rapid rooter. Anyways I went with rez dogs recipe per 5 gal reservoir using General Hydroponics 12ml Micro and 18ml bloom, got a 580 ppm reading. My R/O water comes in at 7.0 PH and 80 PPM. Any thoughts/advice?
