A Second Opinion - DWC - Starting Flowing - Pics

Hello all.

This is a bit of a long one but thank you anyone who took the time to read it threw.

I am about to enter flowing for the first time and have been planning the next few weeks, I have done about 100hours of reading threads and guides so I think I have a good idea of how and what I should do.

I will lay it all out for you and it would be great if you could give me a second opinion or point out anything I may have missed. Don't be shy I want to hear you opinion.

The Set Up

90x75x200cm Grow Space

400HPS
Air In - 4" Fan+ Carbon Filter
Air out - 6" Fan (250 M3 PerHour) No carbon filter
Air movement - 8" desk fan, suspended above plant tops/under light.
Room Temp 27c
Humidity 40%-50%

2x 25L Rez
450Lph air pumps (Each Rez)
3x 6" air stones (Each Rez)
1x Small power head (Each Rez)
Rez Temp 18c-20c

Nutes
Canna Aqua
Canna Zym - Use as per instructions (In The Post)
Canna PK 13-14 - Use as per instructions (in The Post)
Liquid Silica 5% (18ml per rez)
Liquid Karma (In the Post)

Plants

8x AK47 from clones.

This was from a batch of clones that got over fertilized, I managed to rescue 8 of them and put them into this system where they have been doing very well.

They have been growing very fast for 20 days not and I think it is about time to start flowing them, if I imagine that they will double or triple in size they should fill the space nicely.

As you can see from the pics, some are doing better than others. I put the best ones in Rez 1 (Left) and they have always been about 4 days growth in front of the rest.
The big one at the front was the healthiest of the clones and you can really see the difference a good clone makes.

The Plan.

I plan to start flowing by first flushing for two days. in PH 5.6 water + Liquid Silica.
I will then increase the Nute level to EC1.3 (I don't think I will have my new products by then and I’m not sure how they will effect the E.C level)
I'm thinking 1.3 because it is currently at 1.1 but dropped to 0.9 without me adding water.

Okay, a few questions and pictures.

How Am I looking?

Are they big enough to start flowing?

Any signs of difference?

Pic 4: This is on just a couple of the leaves?
It does't seem to be spreading. I think I have seen it somewhere before but can't remember what it was?

Well thats it, I wish they all looked like the big plant at the fron but hey, next time.

I would love to hear from you so please tell me what you think.

Thanks everyone.

Cool.

I'm not to pleased about the wood eather, It ws just one of those things I missed untill it was to late, I can't change it now as i would damge the roots moving the pots.

I backed it with plastic i hope it is staying dry, it is very Dry ontop and I can't see under the plastic to check.

One of those things I will improve on for my next grow.

As for when to start flowing, I wanted to get the most out of the plants and my space and try and fill the space with Buds as best I could

At this piont shoudl I be thinking about cutting off some lower branches, or will I let the plant decide how big it wants to be?

One nice thing about having differnt sized plants, I wil be able to work out a plant size/Space/Bud comparison. which will be very helpfull for my next grow.

I think you can go ahead and pull the pots out without causing too much trauma.
I have done it.

I am sure that you will have a mold problem with the wood.

You can paint the wood with some Kilz and then a marine grade paint, which is very expensive, or you can get some plastic bins from walmart and throw away the tub so you can use the lids to cover you rez.

If you do not damage the main tap root in the center of the plant
the roots will be OK.
If you do some damage,
trim some of the leaves,
but leave the stems of the leaf on the plant.

You can switch the lights at any time.
You do not have much vertical space
so you need to figure the plant will double during the stretch,
and you need room from the light to keep from burning the top.

13 inches for 400w HPS

The plants will double in size, or more,
if they have about 10 nodes when you switch the light.

If you switch the light when they are under 10 nodes,
then they will almost double.

If you wait until they have 13 nodes or more,
before flower,
the plant could triple in size.

Bad for cabinet growers.

Your plants look healthy.

Okay, I will do something about the wood. Will have to wate a couple of days, though everywhere is closed for the holadays.

It will be extra hard to take the pots out beacuse they are home made and don't taper in very much.

I gess I will practice with the smalest plant first.

So Flowing Has started.

The plants are on a 48 hour flush before the bloom nutes are added.

They are all looking very healthy and did quite a lot of growing last night. I been putting a heater into the room during (There night hours) to keep temps up at 20c and I think this has really helped the plants.

I noticed when I changed the rez how nice the roots where looking. There is a big mass of Pearly white Roots growing happly.
They feel very strange, Stong, Wet but not sllipy almost wet but dry textur. strange.
As I am only using water and Canna Nutes and Liquid silica in the rez I feel that I have been very lucky so far.

Any way, here is a couple of orange pics for you to look at. :hump:

Well, you've already induced them to flower, I was about to tell you to wait a little longer, and let the smaller ones catch up some. You can help control the size and height of your plants by making small adjustments during veg, mainly topping the taller ones, and removing lower branches of the smaller ones. You should do that now, remove the small, lower branches of the small plants, and that will make them grow taller.

You'll be amazed at how much your plants grow in the next 3 weeks.

You'll see why we call it Da Stretch. :blsmoke:

Doh,

They are at between 9 and 12 Nodes, So I gess they will about double in height.
I read a lot about people over vegging, I was a bit to cautious I gess. The plants in REZ one are already starting to invade each others spaces. I heard if they are two crowded they will can turn Hirmie.

Would it be better to encourage for small plants in rez 2 to grow taller (They are actually only about 2cm shorter than the big plants but they don't have half as much side growth).

Or

Would I be better off to let them get bushy and place the REZ on a platform so that all the plants are around the same height?

Thanks for you help.

I would think that raising the plants would maximize the light intake and therefore allow for better budding. because shes switching to budmode, a lot of energy is being allocated to produce those buds. the more light you give her the more she'll have to grow and produce buds

i say raise!

Thanks.

That also helps. Beacuse I figure, If I have 3 differnt plant sizes I might as well see what sort of differance in yeald i get between them. That way Next time I should be able to get it just right.
