Sorry, just out of bed and am now a vaguely representable person. If yocan justify the expense then that's fine. That doesn't sound too cool about the grow pictures on the card though :s

ok this is what i'd do... find a friend that know's what he's doing with computers and ask him to find some guy that'd pull the pictures from your hard drive. nothing is lost or deleted when you delete files off your computer like that, there are some programs on the internet that you can pay for to recover deleted pictures off your hard drive (i don't know if they actually work), but don't wait long and don't use your computer. this makes it more likely that the files that you deleted will be corrupted.

How do you come to that conclusion
Hey there smart guy.Stop sucking this guys dick. You can recover the details of the file. Not the File. Dumb Fuck. I came to that conclusion because I obviously know my shit better thann you. He'll get the details and thats it.
If that was the case hard drives wouldnt have a size ,they'd be unlimited. If you deleted it and emptied from recycle bin there gone.

Tell that to the countless amount of people who were busted by police when they seized their HDD's and recovered all the deleted data.
If you just delete something... and put it in the recycle bin and empty it... it's only gone to the END USER.... Anyone with a brain and a background in computer knowledge can recover the lost files... wether they are pictures or whatever..

Think of all the people who get busted for child porn... they obviously don't get busted with it on the HDD.... its whats recovered AFTER they are busted.

They don't get busted with it on their Hard drive? Are you rockin jelly in your brain.Cant even believe you think they dont get busted with it on their pc. Listen I know there are some ways to recover files but he's not gonna get those pictures back I guarantee it. There gone. He'll find evidence that they were there but thats all.

I know for a fact data recovery from a HDD is easy but not so sure about memory cards which are solid state. But what I know from school is that most data is recoverable and even if deleted/formated information can be recovered. I believe your data can be recovered, I have heard tales of data being recovered from RAM which is volatile and you wouldn't think data would stick to it after the device shut off.

A quick google found this site http://www.filerecoverytools.com/ says there is a free trial but as far as software goes that can mean anything. Costs about $50 but I bet if you look hard enough you can find a bootleg out there somewhere.

when you delete a file you just delete the entry to the file in the MBR the file is STILL on your hard drive. The file can still be recovered fully as long as nothing was written over the physical spot where the file was located on the drive. Even if it was overwritten there is still a chance you can still recover the file.

The ONLY TRUE way to destroy data is to literary destroy the medium the data was put on like burning, hammer, axe, melting. You actually have to do a number to it. Magnets even though you see the crap on TV (which is crap) doesn't erase data it just damages the hardware. Data is still recoverable. So if you need to destroy data for C.Y.A reasons you need to make sure pretty much there is NOTHING or little left of the physical device so it can't be salvaged.

I'm absolutely sure if he didn't do anything to the card after he erased the data he has a really good chance of recovering most if not all of the pictures lost.

OH SNAP!

You might be good I believe there is confidently laws that prevents them from using your data against you. Child porn would be an exception to this. These data recovery companies are paid big bucks by companies with data that is worth millions, so they can't just give it out to who ever the hell they wanted too. Chances are though they will be cool with it, after all they are computer geeks and if they don't smoke, they don't care or can't smoke due to their job. They tend to be very liberal from everyone I've known in the industry. Think about it, tight asses tend to stay away from computers.

If anyone wants a good example of this look up Sarah Palin's lawyer with the case of the hacked emails when they bring the founder of 4chan to the witness stand, well you just have to read the transcripts of the court case lots of LOLs. http://gammasquad.uproxx.com/2010/08/4chan-founder-gives-sarah-palins-prosecutors-lesson-in-slang

When you delete data from a harddrive, the computer places a flag on bit to let the system know that it can write over it. When you delete a 5gb file, and your harddrive reads 5gb empty, it's still full, it just knows that there is 5gb available if it should need it. When you use data revcovery software, it recovers the data, part of the clue is in the name. You have a lot to learn

And that's very good news leeroy :)
