So I am now getting my second batch of plants since returning to growing ready. I'm really happy with what's in my garden and am looking forward to an even better grow this time now that I've worked out a few kinks.

For this round I've got:

Apollo 13 "Uno" and "Dos Santos" mothers. They will just be vegging until this batch is almost done.
Apollo 13 Dos Santos cut just finished it's first day of 12/12 in a 5 gallon smartpot
4 seeds Cheese Quake
4 seeds Time Wreck
4 seeds Ace of Spades
1 Blueberry clone from Voidling just transplanted into a 1.2 gallon airpot

Yesterday I put seeds into water for just over a day and tonight planted them in their first homes.

So this is what I've got planned for this round...

Start in 0.3 gallon airpots in seedling mix (ff light warrior + castings)
Transplant to 0.8 gallon airpots in my veg mix (super soil light basically)
Transplant to final pots in supersoil/appropriate mix per needs of plant/size

No liquid nutes in flower

Pull up a chair and set a spell... the wait begins now.

This grow LEDs will be around 2 feet from the canopy. Starting seedlings in airpots from the start. New strains. Thinking of going HPS/LED combo but haven't decided for sure yet. Can't think of much else at the moment.

I noticed some of my strains are fine to 8-12" but some even at that distance get cal-mag deficiency even at that distance, particularly in the second half of flowering. Seems to depend on the plant how affected they are by the distance... unfortunately can't adjust lights on a per plant basis so it's lowest common denominator. if i see a big difference in bud sizes i'll know it was too far. i have a feeling it won't make a ton of difference.

^^ everyone keeps saying this inverse square law thing.... here is a great statement from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverse-square_law

"For example, the intensity of radiation from the Sun is 9126 watts per square meter at the distance of Mercury (0.387 AU); but only 1367 watts per square meter at the distance of Earth (1 AU)—an approximate threefold increase in distance results in an approximate ninefold decrease in intensity of radiation."

I think the best distance from the light, if you do not care about coverage, is the distance from the two furthest apart LEDs. For example:
optimal led to plant distance.jpg
That way it is far enough away for every LED to blend with every other LED. Therefore being as close as possible while blending all bands of light. Whats your thoughts on that.

OK, here's the latest:

4/4 CQ up and looking good
4/4 Ace of Spades up and looking ok
2/4 TimeWreck up, 1 looks to be pushing soil, the other still unseen

3 out of the dome, 9 still in. I'm hoping for 12/12 this time after the fiasco of the last seed germ where I lost several.

Me too... the old kids are grown and almost out of the house.. and now this new batch has come along to raise up. Late August/early september it's gonna be getting crazy in here when these guys are done :)

All plants up except one timewreck... i dug around and found the seed (it was a little deep but had a root started... i left it to where it shouldn't have too much problem now getting above soil hopefully didn't screw it up we'll see. Already 11/12 though so that ain't bad and looking like it's going to be 12/12... if my usual female ratio holds up I should end up with 7 or 8 glorious females. 2 or 3 of the little saps already have their first true leaves going... they're working fast. The rest just petioles but no major problems with seeds stuck on... got one CQ that's pretty stretchy I've moved them a bit closer to the lights.

Looks like no pics for a while -- my digital camera is screwey and putting in some weird digital pattern in the pics and the colors are off... not sure what happened... when I get bored and feel the itch I can always break out the cam I guess.

Going to put 2 timewreck beans in water. The non-germer I tried to help get germed but it is not progressing and won't survive. There is also one above soil that has not stretched and looks like maybe it should've stayed under the dome a bit longer. If it doesn't look better when I check next time i'm calling it quits on that one too. All the others look good, although all very tall/stretchy. I put them under CFLs last night and they seemed to like that.

At the moment everyone's in the dark as the a/c people are here for the second day to repair/replace our a/c unit.... well a/c people just got done, so time to make the donuts (move the plants) - i hope my 12/12 plants don't freak out about getting substantially less than 12 hours 2 days in a row... yesterday they only get 3 hours or so today they'll get 7 or 8. Lots of dark time.

a couple of days should hurt. u should be fine. shit happens.
i gotta get my Timewreck going soon. i'm looking at about july10-20th before my main room frees up. hope to get the timewreck, qush, and some Bodhi lemon larry x snowlotus going all at once. gonna pop em in 3-4weeks probably.

Timewreck excites me. apollo13bx by sub was an amazing strain. i really like how yours turned out. luckily I acquired some Bodhi Apollo11 that I am flowering now. I hope it has the same uplifting effect. that's great you got the Timewrecks going tho. can't wait to see em.

Me too it's gonna be a long wait til late august/early september to finally see the end result... really mid-late september before proper cure/smoke report even. I'm hoping they turn out like Hovering's timewreck's... damn those were some white frosty plants and would make crazy hash. Curious how that Bodhi A11 turns out too - I grew A11 back in the day and it was fantastic stuff -- much more sativa dominant than apollo 13 -- all uplift very little indica (really none) influence in the stone... and a true fast finisher 49-56 days every time depending on how late you like to take'm. I'd definitely grow it again for sure. Things to watch out for with A11 is she tends to be tall with a small stem and frequently needs support into flower from seed or she will fall flat over - root mass is relatively small so root stimulation definitely beneficial - a beautiful plant and the smell is a bit more citrusy/non-weedy/more stealth than apollo 13, which does get some baby poo funk late into flower. But it's what you'd expect seeing as how A11 was the end result of the breeding project and A13 was the prior version done when Cindy was not fully stabilized. A11 buds are a bit denser and more spear shaped as well compared to A13.

I'm pretty psyched about everything I'm growing at the moment other than the OG Kush -- hoping the 2nd og kush turns out better than the 1st, which i did take a bit early. I'm gonna check out your grow I wanna see how those A11's come out if they're good and look like the originals I grew I may have to order some :)

Just a quick update -- planted 2 extra timewreck, both popped and tho small are growing ok so far. Other plants all doing well -- one has had to be tied up to stay standing up. BB looking great, starting to stretch a bit. Just planted my apollo 2 mom into 2.5 gallon pot. She'll go into a 5 gallon pot along with sis once she hits her growth spurt, I take cuts and they finish rooting.
