Aero/NFT - Let's rock some Jilly Bean and Super Lemon Haze!

Hello all, this is my *first* journal. Just received my package from "Attitude" and couple first strains I am going to try is Jilly Bean and Super Lemon Haze.

First little background, have a "bag seed" grow going now. I had them in a DWC until I found Stinkbuds thread and converted them to his Aero/NFT setup. I will be growing this with his method for this grow, and hopefully for many to come. The bag seed grow is going good but so slow, I just think the seeds that I used were hermie seeds or just not that good to grow. This will help me keep track of what I am doing with some "real" seeds and some real medicine I am dying to try.

I wanted to get this started and will be posting pics later tonight, and get this officially started.

Ok they are off and germinating! Here is what happened so far :

Here is my beans from Attitude.



First lets start with the Jilly Bean I take a 1/2 sheet of paper towel and wet it with Ph'd water, not overly wet just saturated through.



After its saturated I place it in small sandwhich bag. I spray some inside bag so it doesn't dry out, and fold it in quarters.



Now I do the same for the Super Lemon Haze.



Now I stuff them in a nice dark little box, this air pump box will suffice. After there in the closed box, I put them somewhere warm to help humidity, my water heater will work nicely.



Now I guess we wait to see if they pop! Here is a glimpse of my bag seed plant in my flower cabinet with the aero/nft stinkbud setup with my ArtDNe timer for pumps.



I will be back tomorrow with pics of my veg/cloner unit and hopefully news on the beans a poppin!

Just checked the beans and not popped yet. Just sprayed em with little more water in the bag and moved em to a heating pad on medium to generate more humidity.

Checked this morning and the Super Lemon Haze popped but just barely.. kinda worried about jilly bean both seeds I received seem kind of small.

Debating wether to do root plugs like I did last time or this method I found on here about starting seed in Stinkbud unit. We will see.. like to do it in the stink veg unit and be done with it till flower but kinda nervous.

Anyway post pics when I transplant them to the root plug or directly to veg unit.

Well they both popped but instead of putting them in the neoprine I am doing what worked last time. I drop them into rapid rooter plugs in a humidity dome for a day or two till they sprout. I spray mist them every so often during the time as well making sure they don't dry out.



Also bonus grow.. Shining Silver Haze. Dropped one of these in today to sprout it too.

The Super Lemon Haze seed root is coming along nicely.. about 3/4" long. Jilly Bean is sprouted from shell but not coming out like it should has me worried, as the seeds I got were awful tiny compared to other seeds I have used. Also the Silver Shining Haze is cracked and longer then Jilly in only one day of germination.

I have all three in humidity dome with root plugs on a heating pad for humidity and warmth. When I transplant them into the net pots in veg unit I will get some more pics up.

Nothing has sprouted yet but I noticed the SLH seedling lost about 1/8" of the point of the tap root?! Will this be ok, I noticed this when I took it from the rapid rooter and put it in the veg unit. The jilly bean is dead I think it is just cracked and nothing coming out. I put the other Jilly Bean seed in paper towel in the box this morning. I think I am checking them and @!~&@ with them too much, damn I am impatient!

I sold my old 400 watt magnetic ballast and picked this one up :

as my other 400w HPS wasn't air cooled and the temps in my cabinet were 95+ with 6" exhast fan so I got this one and sold my other one on craigslist.

Man SLH seems to barely be growing in net pot veg unit with root down in water mist. The other seeds are still in root plugs and not showing growing at all, I have a repti-therm on them and now a heating pad to up the humidity.

seems like my bag seeds popped and took off in a day or two and these guys are like going on 4 days.

Not much to report but the only thing I got to germ and take off is the Super Lemon Haze so far. None of the other seeds are coming along as fast, some of them have cracked but nothing where I can plant them into rapid rooter or into veg unit. Don't know why.. I did like 3 bag seeds before and they all popped within 24 hours, these been going for about a week now. Only thing I can think as I have these on constant heat for humidity and the others I had on water heater that kicks off and on. Dunno..

Also picked up and received that 6" 400 watt cooled light, a bit bigger then expected and I think I might have to move my flower room out of closet and frame a bigger area for it. It fits but just barely will update pics when that happens.

Here is my baby still chugging along, SLH she in the veg unit with just 5.9-6.0 PH water spraying at 1 min on and 8 mins off.

Well my first Super Lemon Haze seedling is chugging right along. Still just 5.8-6.0 PH water. Here are todays pics:

The other seeds well aren't germinating at all I think I kept them too wet. I did get one other Super Lemon Haze to sprout and an AK-47.

I bought the 3/4" pvc for the taking the flower room out of the closet. With my new 6" aircooled light it is too tight. It works but its too snug. I will post pics when i start changing it around.

Thanks! I am hopping one of the Jilly's will crack. No luck so far, got one in rapid rooter now on heat mat but she hasn't cracked in like a week. Not sure whats going on, but I really want some to try out. The Super Lemon Haze is growing good so I am excited about that!

bought 5-Jilly Bean and a GreenHouse Seeds Sativa/Indica mix of 5 strains that are on their way.

Well here are my babies today. Two Super Lemon Haze seedlings and one AK-47 I am running now, since my jilly beans never popped. I am just going to run with these for this grow, sorry I am upset too I really wanted to get the Jilly Bean to grow but neither seeds germinated using same methods as other.

Here are some pics today, still running around 5.9Ph water with a touch of CalMag+ in the RO water.

Congrats.. let me know how yours work out. Where did you buy them from, mine was from Attitude. The SLH seeds were the ONLY ones I got to germinate from them?! Not sure what to think yet.

Hear is my flower room about 90% done. The new light is hung and I have a bit more room for 6 max plants. Also went to a hinged 14gallon res for easier checking ph/ppm etc.

Well things are growing good for the most part (just not fast enough lol) but the roots look good and leaves look excellent. I have add about 125ppm of Stinkbuds Veg mix into the water just a trace as I hate just giving them water. Ph is at about 5.7-5.8 as well.

My veg mix is :


Botanicare Nutrients:

1) 126ML Cal-Mag Plus
2) 180ML Liquid Karma
3) 540ML Pure Bend Pro Vegetative Formula

All added to a gallon jug mixed well after topping off with RO water. I just add this mix to the reservoir till I get the desired ppm.

They are moving along nicely, just have to stop screwing with them and let them grow. I have a bad habit of messing with them too much and screwing something up. I will try not to let that happen this time unless something goes wrong.

Bumped up nutes to about 400ppm today seem to be growing good with trace of nutes I had in so far. They are on 18-6 CFL light cycle in veg now, with one warm 2700k bulb and one bright 6000k bulb.
