Aero/NFT - Let's rock some Jilly Bean and Super Lemon Haze!

OK raised PPM of veg mix to 800-850 yesterday. Some of the node stems are touch of purple. Anyone know what that means?! Too much nutes or too little of something? I have seen it on both my grows doesn't seem to bother plants but stems on nodes of some leaves are green some are purplish.

They seem to be growing good... but some of other peoples Super Lemon haze seems to be taller then mine at this stage. I am starting my fifth node on the SLH 1 and seems to be growing good but little stout.

Here is SLH 1:

Roots of the same baby:

Thanks for looking and any advice much apprecitated.

I bumped the nutes today to 1200ppm (5.7-5.8Ph), the girls seem to be liking it so far. I got some tiny brown spots on 2nd nodes of AK but nothing since, I think it wasn't as far along as the SLH and burnt a bit but nothing bad.

Here are the pics:

Super Lemon Haze No 1:

Still staying squatty, on its 5th node now seems like the leaf stems are longer then the plant is tall. Is this normal?

Super Lemon Haze 2:

Good growth a node or two behind number one but same squatty leaf stems long.

slh_2.jpg

AK47:

Same as others stems are long plant is not LOL. Making me worry, but maybe more nutes will let em stretch maybe?

AK.jpg

Welcome any comments, seems to be rather quiet. Maybe too early for replies? First nute change probably Sunday or Monday.

the slh1 looks great, her roots are a little brown though, might i suggest some hydrogen peroxide, use like a 1/2 tbl spoon per gallon, will totally whiten those roots up and make them healthy!

good luck on ur grow...

They are brown because I use StinkBuds (Botanicare Nutrients) veg mix, its dark molasis brown and always tints the roots. Never had a problem before you still think I should do it?

if you've had no problems then i'd say no don't bother. It's not neccessary to add hydrogen peroxide, just useful if you want nice white healthy roots.

First vegetation reservoir change today, Ph at 5.7 and PPM with Veg Nutes are at 1400ppm. They seem to be liking the amount they are getting now so I am going to leave it steady for time being. Nothing to report at the moment seem to be growing good and leaves are nice green, the only thing I am thinking of is running some clearex through at next res change for an hour and then put nutes back in, I am worried now about the salt on the roots they are brown because of veg mix but I am not sure if I should just let them be.

Anyone have any suggestions on if I should run some clearex through next reservoir change for about an hour then switch back to my nutes? Just kind of worried but they look great, just don't want to mess with them doing so good but want to be proactive too!

All for now.

Well they are growing good, I just topped SLH #1 at the 6th node so we should be starting to see two mains shooting in a few days. They are at 1500ppm with veg mix and loving it, I did buy some Clearex today and next reservoir change maybe next week will run that between changing for a few hours to clean the roots and be pro-active.

Here is the snaps:

SLH Number 1 (now topped):

SLH Number 2:

AK47:

I did notice something last nite just before the lights shut off (18/6) that the AK47 starts to wilt like its going to sleep. In the morning she is back to normal, thats amazing that its trained to know when its gonna rest and when it's going to wake up.

Be back in a few days with an update.

Ok I am getting a little worried or impatient, all plants are topped but not growing like I want them too I think. They getting bushier but not taller... what can be the problem? Not enough light or water/nutes? I had my watering at 1min on and 8 mins off, I cranked it up to 1 min on 6 off now to see what happens.

Full nutrient solution at 1500-1600ppm, with 5.8ph.

These are going on 7 weeks and should be flowering I think, but not mature yet I think. ! Someone chime in!

r1tony,
Looking good! I always think so when I see you at Stealth Hydro or S&L Hydro anyway but
this is really nice!
Didn't know you handled thier IT.
Funny how your strain or "SLH" matches thier website to drive traffic. That small place down
there could try practiceing good customer service and selling quality systems like us here at
Bountiful Hydroponics which may give them some repeat bussiness. Maybe you could mention
that to your boss.
Sales here at Bountiful Hydroponics are good. If you are interested in seeking a more honest employer
"Like it appears most there have" I would be glad to talk to you. Just let me know.
Thank you,
OxyHydro Man

Well put the SLH #1 and AK47 into flower today. AK-47 started to show some alternating nodes and the SLH should be any day now. They look awesome but not as tall as I expected, and I am keeping the SLH2 in veg for couple more weeks I think while these start to flower. I might get some clones off the #2 before I put it into flower.

Here is my flower mix at ph of 5.8 and PPM of 1500 for these two at the moment.

Flower mix Botanicare Nutrients:
1) 126ml Cal-Mag Plus
2) 150ml Sweet
3) 180ml Liquid Karma
4) 540ml Pure Bend Pro Bloom

Have these under my 400w HPS.

Here are the pics of SLH1:

AK47:

The SLH 2 still in veg:

I did run the two in flower for a few hours with RO and clearex to remove some salts before the flower mix, but now they are eating the mix they will have for the next several weeks.

Lookin good Tony, sucks about the Jilly Bean. I have one going just not sue which one it is! lol I dumped it on the ground with a Pineapple Exp, Sharksbreath and Blue Cheese. They all survived but are all mixed up so I was hoping to wath your to help me figure out what is what! lol

One of my SLH is squatty but is filling out nicely...I read there are 2 maybe 3 phenos, one taller and takes 10-11 weeks and the short stocky one takes +- 9 and one with blue...I have a tall one and a short one...seen no blue, yet lol

Ok about a week into flower. My SLH #1 is showing a bit of nute burn on one fan leaf and some new leafs sprouting? All the other leaves seem fine, kind of weird so i dropped the nutes a tad to around 1400. Maybe the flower formula is a bit more powerful, not sure.

Here is pic:

The rest of the plant seems to be doing good and starting to show some female hairs!!

(can't see them too good with my Android camera phone)

here is the whole plant though:

I made some pvc cross members that just sit on the frame so i can start supporting the taller branches soon.

Ak47 is still a bit droopy but looks healthy other then that. I did change my pvc plumbing in the flower stinkbud setup yesterday as I noticed when I removed some of the empty sites that water wasn't squirting out of one of the EZclone misters. I just built another mister setup and swapped em real quick. We will see if they weren't getting enough water from that one.

Ak47:

Of course the SLH 2 is still in veg setup doing excellent probably going to flower next week, might see about cloning some off it first.

All for now, the flower mix is down to 1400 to 1500 ppm to see if anymore nute burn surfaces. I also put a electric heater in the flower room with digital temp to stay at 70 with lights off, its getting too cold at night and temps were in middle to low 60s at night and mid 70s during day.

OH YA .. MERRY JANE CHRISTMAS!!

I got to thinking and reading on the drooping.. maybe its over watering. I am set on 1 on and 5 off but I am using a 400gph pump on my flower box for 6 site flower box. I used the recommended pump by stink but for his 8 to 10 site setup, I think I am going to run over to Hydro store tomorrow and buy a lower volume pump. I watched the sprayers on the site and they are gushing water not mist/spraying. This may be why I am over watering in the flower I am thinking?! Anyone?

Probably get a 196 or 250gph pump to replace this.

What sprayers does stinkbuddies plan have? Ive looked at his plans and as where I like the idea I'm gonna do mine a touch different. I use Digs sprayers from home depot, they have this one type that has a regulator valve on them, they install on pvc with a 10-32 tap.Anyway, my point is you can regulate those and they actually seem to work better than any of the other ones from home depot.

And as for the drooping, I changed out one res and noticed a severe drooping about 5 minutes after I placed the plant back in the unit, the weather had just changed and the ground water had gotten much cooler. I changed two res out before I realized what it was that caused the droop. as soon as the water temp came up a little bit it was all fine. I'm just wondering if it was the sudden change in water temperature rather than it actually being too low because now I go straight from tap to res and don't even look at temp.

Ya I am in MI and its winter so my basement is about 60 or so at night. I added a ceramic heater maybe I should move it closer to the reservoir.
