looks cool, i am very interested, i would say that when they get big, you should add a couple of cfl's arounf the sides to encourage side growth

oh yeah....... what spectrum is that light?

you should buy one in the 2700k range
Yeah I know it would be alot better if I used some of my cfl's for side light but I want to see what the AG can produce by itself with no additional lighting. I have about (10) 27watt & 42watt cfl's that are 2700k & 5500k and they aren't being used right now so it's very tempting to wrap the entire AG with bulbs. I'm probably going to "lollipop" any females I end up with so they can focus on just the top cola and I won't have to worry about the bottom branches. It's an experiment more than anything else.

It doesn't say the spectrum on the AG bulb but I will try to find out what it is. The AG uses 3 bulbs that are 26watts each.

Dude I would give them all the light you got! They will eat that shit up y0...

It's easy to tell what spectrum the lights give off. If it's got blue it will be a bright white, almost like sunlight. If they got red spectrum they will look real orange and red.

I hear ya but the point of this grow is to see what the AG can do by itself with no additional lighting or equipment. We'll see how they turn out

I should top them after the 4th node??

Do you agree that I should lollipop them?

I have the AG deluxe and it has the 24hrs on setting which is what I have it on now for the pump. I have my light plugged in by itself so it's ready when I flip them to 12/12

I would not lolipop . The yeilds in the aerogarden are less than otherways of growing I think that you'll get more buds off the lower branches so why cut them off ... The waiting is the hardest part

Top them after the 4th node yes .

Well I figured the bottom branches won't be getting any light since I'm not using any side light so why not let the plant focus on putting out 1 nice cola. I'm not worried about weight at all, I have several other plants going, I just want quality.

I will be topping them either way, whether I lollipop them or not. Thanks for the advice korvette

Yea I bought it a little over 2 months ago but about 2 weeks into my grow went out & got a 400watt light and a 3'x3' hydro tray and everything else I needed. So it took about a month for my AG to go from this:

Ok well I just started growing a couple of months ago but I've learned alot on this site so I'll try to help you.

Fist off, don't try to grow 7 plants on the AG just because there's 7 spots. I'm growing 3 and that will be very crowded by the time they're done.

You're gonna need an air pump and a small air stone. This is to airate the water in your reservior. If you don't have a hydroponics supply store close to you, fish & pet stores carry them. The air pump will cost you about $10 and the air stone is a couple of bucks.

You need a PH test kit which also comes with the acid/base for adjusting the PH level of your water...they cost about $10 or you can get a digital meter for $75. hydro store or online.

If you do have access to a hydro supply store, I suggest you get some good nutrients instead of using the nutes that come with the AG. I've heard from a couple people that the AG nutes work ok but it comes in tablets which makes it harder to regulate how much you're giving your plants. hydro store or online

You'll need a timer for when it comes time to switch your plants over to flower because there's no 12on/12off setting on the AG though someone told me the latest model has a programable timer so if that's the case and you got one of those, you obviously won't need to buy a timer. If you do need the timer, you will also need a "figure 8" power cord that lets you plug your light directly into the timer instead of the AG (you'll understand what I'm talking about when you see it). Sony playstation uses the same figure 8 cord or it's $8 at radio shack.

The salad greens setting is the only setting that has the pump running 24hrs a day, that is the setting you should use.

Extra lighting for side light will help alot with aerogardens once the plants start to get big because the lower branches hardly get any light. Compact Flourescent Bulbs (CFL) work really good and are not expensive at all. You can get them at home depot or any home improvement store.

Yea that's definetly enough to get you started...feel fee to ask any questions that come up.

I PM'd you with some questions about a SOG I'm starting as soon as I harvest some other plants I have growing in my hydro tray. Thanks for checking out my experiment.

Something is wrong with my camera so i borrowed one from a friend. Here's the best pics it would take. 2 out of the 3 plants are identical, the 3rd is a little smaller...Day 10 from seed

thanks bro...yeah I guess that was a little confusing. This AeroGarden journal is still going, I'm still using the AG with no extra lights. The point was that I bought the AG over 2 months ago and within 2 weeks of starting my grow in it, I bought a 400watt light and a 3x3 hydro tray and pulled the plants from the AG to go in my new set-up and the AG got stuck in the closet where it sat until I decided to actually grow some plants in it to see what it could do...which is what I'm doing now with my 3 Jack Herer babies
