All LED Indoor Grow- Quantum Boards vs AutoCob's

Thanks for your input. I was thinking of what you said only because I have (2) clones of a plant I have grown before under this QB and they just won't grow any taller right now but keep bushing out, this was not the case with the COB's in veg that I had before. So I was curious if the light needs to be dimmed because the 320 watt QB for flower in the 3x3 had to be dimmed to 250 or else it was stunting the plants. The girls I am talking about are healthy and have great structure but just stacking too tight for my taste right now and not getting too tall........

Your setup sounds neat feel free to post pics if you'd like to share :hump:
diffused sourced light vs small area of projection. genetics? who knows. compact and bushy is good so long as they are growing.

I don't have any thing really worthy of posting ATM, I could plug tasty though, snapped this: one week after flip while de-leafing/installing treills. these lights have been shining non-stop for about a year now. the pheno hunt tent, two moms same beans Right Vs left. who ever wins, doesn't end up in the compost lol.

Those plants look great as does the setup. :hump:

What strain are you pheno hunting if you don't mind me asking?

getting in to some of the freebies in house has sent me, they are very generous to say the least. even if they only the chuck.

these are: white F/ white kush x sourdiesel x M/dosido.

they vegged very strong, with very SD like structure ( I grew nothing but SD for my first few years, not by choice) tons of node sites (in part to my very skilled training lol) they have HUGE fans. dark viridian green color. any frost is going to look very good on that.

I been really waiting on this next run, I want to get the QB's for this one, but the Cherry gorilla has been easy to grow, so I think its a good candidate for a QB grow.

Nothing quite like a good sour diesel, love the flavors that strain brings, good luck on your hunt.

I love the cmh lights there's a couple 315's 40% off locally and man for the price..........lol...........

I only use mine, about somewhere half-way though flower.

40% so about 250 bucks or so, that's good if they have the bulb too. even if you only buy one to take pictures under.

they don't put out lots of BTU"s but more then I would like, since thermal control cost more then lights where I live.

that's why I'm looking as some QB, see if I can get my thermal signature down even more. if I could even be, in the parking lot of the ballpark I would be happy.

Good to see you in Brother @Evil-Mobo 's thread @im4satori ;)
In the 10 pack of Satori I grew out I have one pheno that is straight up Lemon ass Funk. More lemon than any Lemon Kush I have smelled. Brother mobo can attest :hump:
Yes it has me excited about the crosses with the males.

So funny story on the crosses. The chemdogging that I crossed with the male was so dank I had to harvest seeds and buds outside. Apparently I missed a seed on the floor and there was a little dogggie dreams plant growing all on it's own between the brick pavers out back lol. I pulled it gently and stuck in in a solo cup of organic dirt, curious to see if it makes it. All this time it germed on it's own no water except when it rains sunlight when out etc. I just thought it was the coolest thing. :bigjoint:

Oh and my buddy came up with the name for strain number 2 tonight, the Satori X Narcotic Kush, he says we should call it "Nightmare Kush" and I like it. :hump:

Yeah I'm going to see what the final price would be and if it includes the bulb. The manager there has become a friend of mine over time here so he won't BS me. I'm worried about heat here in the winter with the LED's, if I have to add a heater it defeats the purpose and I'd rather run the CMH and HID lights and call it a day. Maybe I will start running lights seasonally who knows. I definitely think the QB's will bring your heat signature down. The AutoCob's too. I have owned Tasty lights before and no knock to them or Rahz, just in my old environment where it was really hot all year long the active cooling brought more heat into my tent than a 315 CMH did, and my 315 was not vented like I have seen you can do now with the Phantom reflector. An A/C 315 would rock the house.

However, the two things I am still really interested in trying out are the DE 630 CMH bulbs in an AC/DE hood air cooled of course, and the 600 watt "Ceramic" HPS whenever Hortilux gets around to releasing it.

People keep wanting a definitive answer from me on the LED vs HID and the truth is right now all I can say is it's different. You can grow good buds both ways. I still need more time with the LED's as time goes by I keep getting more feedback and seeing things I like and don't from both LED's. Hopefully by the end of the month my 5x9 will be up and then the 600 watt Blue MH (my favorite light) and the 1K Super HPS will go up. Then that and the LED's will all be running at the same time. I have a couple of ideas for a run with the same strain across all lights...........this will be the best way "for me" to judge what works better and why.

I have always said my goal with LED is to find if I can get "similar" yields as HPS but using a lot less at the wall. At the end of the day a good grower will do just fine with any of the lights mentioned.

I appreciate your input :hump:

If you need to add heat, what you really need to do is insulate better.

I understand, but at the end of the day this is not my house and it's a room in the basement. We will see if I will need to add heat, but I would expect it. I just cannot make such "permanent" changes to this area just yet. Working the best I can with the space and gear I have. :bigjoint:

The best way I know of to keep heat in a basement is to place a door at the bottom of the stairs and keep it closed. I don't know if that's possible in your case, but it would be a good move if you have the option.

The grow space is an entire room in the basement, use to be an "exercise" room.............

This morning's garden update. Everyone was watered and fed. Ionic Grow 4tsp/gallon, Cal-Mag+ 5ml/gallon, Hydro Guard 2ml/gallon. EC 2.0 PH 6.2 Something to note, I cut the Ful-Power as I ran out and don't consider it an essential expense right now, anyways, my PH was a lot lower without the Ful-Power and I did not need to adjust PH tonight with any PH down...........

First things first, I dimmed the veg QB down to 220 watts tonight:

And because I'm an impatient Evil scientist (LOL) I dropped a handful of Nightmare Kush ( Satori X Narcotic Kush) seeds into water tonight. It ended up being 13 total, let's see how this first handful of strain #2 beans goes, fingers crossed that something pops they're no where near as mature as the beans from my first cross:

My Satori cut is just coming along beautifully man I love this damn plant:

Shots of the GG#4 girls under the AutoCob's:

And a shot of the QB tent with the Auto's, you might notice some solo cups floating around. I have a few projects kicking. There's two cuts of a Wonder Woman Fem from a friend, I literally drove home with a lower branch cut off that I made two decent cuts out of. I am trying to root straight into the medium again, it's a test I can get legit cuts later. Also there's the Doggie Dreams I stuck into a solo cup that was growing through the brick pavers outside. And last but not least one of the cups has a seed of Doggie Dreams in it waiting to see if it sprouts. The cuts look like shit but are standing up and not dying, I think they will make it.

IMG_20170807_014727.jpg

The (6) Hubba beans from Mephisto are doing just fine in the cup of water already sank to the bottom I expect tap root tails in a day or so. And then we will get those planted to start their lives :) That's all the madness for today got a lot going on just like I like it keeps me busy.

Thanks for checking in
:peace:
