Update: Day 83 flowering - Started flushing the SBA last week after the update. She is eating herself alive, Losing fan leaves on a daily basis. She has been around too long, Time for her to come down! Trichs are about 25/60/15 (clear/cloudy/amber). There are still white pistils mixed with the orange but I think this is just the way she is. her days are numbered. Next photos will be of the harvest, thus concluding this grow.

Something is going on with sativas and LEDs. The few sativas I've grown just don't finish right. They grow great, and I mean great, up to a certain point and then they just seem to be confused or stressed and don't finish like they should. Very frustrating. Did you adjust the time for the SBA or keep it at 12/12? And have you thought of adding some Far Red light to your grow? From what I'm seeing adding FR to one of my panels is really helping my plants finish, though I need some more grows with this panel to be sure.

Tough grow Amaximus, but you don't give in to defeat easily, do you :)? Looking foward to your future posts. Happy Growing and Be Safe!

Oh and I'm a big fan of the album Exile on Main Street and every time I see the words Sweet Black Angel, all I hear in my head is Mick Jagger goin "She-a-sweet-blacka-angel.". Weird :-) .

Not just leds, the trics on my Big Girl F1 (under a mix of HO T5s) just don't want to roll into cloudy/amber the new issue of Skunk is dedicated to Sats and talks about what a Diva she is. One of the tips was sats are sensitive to light leaks. I find this hard to believe, as sats in mother nature deal with night lightening and bright moon once a month, plus morning sun rise and evening sunsets where light slowly rises/wanes

Hey Fran, Yeah i dropped the lights to 11/13 then 10/14 about 10 days after that. I did this a few weeks ago when I believe you first mentioned that sativas sometimes need the extra kick to tell them to finish up. There was some initial response and then, nothing. This is still officially my first grow so I have no past experience to compare to but yeah these sativas just don't want to finish. The SBA seems content to pop fox-tails and drop fan leaves. But you are correct, They sure started out fine, The finish is just sluggish. This all started in February so i have to put my foot down and end this soon, All Indicas next round!

I haven't thought about adding any Far Red, I don't even know how I would go about doing that?

she's big! how much weight do you think is on there?
I'm not sure, With the average crap yield I've been getting this first time around I'd be happy to pull an ounce, Anything more than that would surprise me. I really need to dial it in better and get some real yields next time around.

Lol. Time to start drafting that shiny new restraining order!

Okay guys, I'm curious as hell now. I have a monster sativa in my tent flowering she has been there for 11 weeks come sunday, I expect her to be finished in another 2 to 3 weeks. Is this a trait issue of not finishing or do most sativas act this way. Mind you mine is not a store bought seed but a bag seed bitch and she isn't crossed as far as I can tell. I have noticed buds beginning to swell and some crystals forming but very few pistols dying off. I have nothing to go by when it comes to sativas as I mostly grow indicas for how fast they are and how quick they finish. Please share your knowledge?

Apparently, Sats like more blue than red. Probably not a lot more say 60/40 would be a good place to start.

I swapped out 2 Coral Waves for ATI Special Blue Actinics. It 'seems' that the trics got taller and maybe filled in some. Alas, I am so close to finish (ppms < 200 for 2 weeks) so I won't know until next grow

Some companies make Far Red E7 spots like Lumigrow, which are kinda pricey. You can get FR spots on Ebay but those suffer from dubious quality usually. The best would be to DIY your own. I like them on my panel, but now I see the wisdom in adding them separately.

I am on day 97 of 11/13 and the Malawi is still showing new growth - even after all of my root issues. :P

SEE? This is EXCELLENT! I'll stash it the rest of 'em! :)
Yeah I'm gonna follow you a bit on that other one about yield.
The more I learn, the more I know I don't know... jack!

<EDIT> : I have also been looking into indicas~
That Aurora Indica is suppose to be the "strongest, THC%'age wise" (their words~Nirvana)
Quick Finish.

Harvested the Sweet Black Angel today after 91 days in flower. No doubt she was not ready yet but she didn't look good, fan leaves were drying up and falling off etc. Trichs were mostly cloudy with some amber mixed in.

Sorry, No pictures. It's like pea soup here today and I'm sweating my ass off and not in a good mood. I couldn't deal with sticky, sweaty fingers and a camera.

So, That is it. Eight plants started in February... One unexpected low yielding auto... Sativas that dont want to finish... Powdery mildew & bud rot... This grow has been a bit of a let down but at least I learned a shit ton and have some experience under my belt.

Will be jarring up the SBA as soon as she is dry. I'll have a final weight on her as well as the entire grow soon.... And then this grow will be complete and we'll be moving on to a, hopefully, much better grow.
