Anybody use CFLS and SUNLIGHT?

Ive been looking for some other people who use cfls and natural sunlight coming through the windows to grow. I have recently been doing this and i am pretty happy with the results.

granted you have to have a good amount of free time and keep to a schedual. I use about 180w of cfls in a homemade hood. next to a window so that the sun can help. and if the sun is really crancking ill pull some plants out to sit in the window. or even bring them outside to bask for a couple hours.

i only recomend this for a couple plants or a tray of small clones that are bieng put into flowering because there is alot of moving back and forth at least 4-5 times a day.

it is a little tedious but if you cant use a hps for flowering the sunlight is a good replacement. these are pics of my great white ive been growing in my room. ill get the link to my grow journl here too so you can see it all. https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/322731-my-first-journl-4-weeks-post4065034.html#post4065034

and i would like to see if anybody else is kindof using this method:joint:

all i can say is look through as many threads about setups and cfls (there are plennty on here) and even as your going you will need to reference back to other threads. and grab the marijuana horticulture book by cervantes, its probly the best investment ive ever made besides the lights. best of luck and if you have any other questions hit me up on that other journel

thanks man i hope this can inspire people who dont have shit to do. ( housewives, people who work from home, the millions of unemployed ppl who still buy dim sacks.)

you can grow your own stash and you dont need all the fancy equpment. (yea that stuff makes it easier) but its a plant and as long as it has its basic needs you should be good.

i guess you can say im a newb but ive been doing reaserch and reading books for a couple years now. so i didnt just jump into this shit and it worked out. it takes trial and error.

keep growing people!

In veg I was giving my plant CFLs at night and sunlight during the day. The liked it just fine. Then in bloom I just put her on the back porch and let her go to flower. I was real proud of her then at week 4 bloom some fomofo stole her out of my back yard.

i use this process also due to a lack of light. When these girls aren't sitting in the window .. they are only vegging under 3 23 wt cfls:shock:. I can't wait until i'm done flowering so i can give them proper lighting. you can see they're bending a bit from reaching for the sun. rep on a good thread btw.

nice post, & plants.
I have two 14" plants growing under 300w cfl with a 250w work light.
plus i use sun for about 4hrs a day at the window with cfl's running from the back.
the plants are spreading all over the place.
I'm at 6 weeks & day1 of flowering.

Is the blue light coming from window bad for the plants at this point????????

no. sunlight would only hurt your plants if it is too strong, wich in a window shouldnt happen at all. and as far as the work light, if its not a cfl or doesnt have the right spectrum its probly not really efficient. (puts out heat energy rather than lumens the plants want)

and gayan whats the post about?

and as far as the work light it's 250w halogen double ended quartz with wite light spectrum (4100k with a lot of heat. my room is a 77f 41h) ,
so I put it all the way at the top & my cfl's are 5" & 7" away(2700k).

Also that 250w halogen is what i start my plants with and it grew real fast.

i tried cloning it like 4 time. the first 2x i cut the plants in half that's why my plants are short now they ware like 4 feet tall & skinny
now there fat.

clones they all die but the mother grew back even faster.

they wont be in the sun light no more.

from what iam told there is minimal lumen diffrenece between most bulbs spectrums, its just the warmer lights work better due to emulating a harvest sun better (due to uvb? iam not totally sure).

the only reccomendation i could definitely give you, is mix it all up. throw a few lower spectrum bulbs around there, to help out. if your using the sun and the fake light is behind while natural light is forward, try to rotate the pots every once in a while make sure none of it is only getting one kind.

This is my plant that I did with CFLs at night and sunlight during the day. 24/24. Then I just kept her in the sun for a nice 12/12 in the tropics.

BTW. I stand behind KlosetKing. Mix it up. Rotate the plant.

My CFL setup is as follows, in effective watts.

300W, 2700K
2x150W, 5500K

I think a 6500K does make a difference but I don't have one available.

Nice plants, rock on.

thats cool, I always thought that using both sunlight and artificial light would confuse the light schedule. guess it depends on how you do it. think you could give some tips on an only CFL grow? It would really help out. https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/325324-columbian-gold-first-time-help.html Thanks
Tip's for an only CFL grow. Check out PC Case grows. They tend to rely on CFL's alot. I like to mix up the CFL's a little bit. I'm using 300effective watts of 2700 light and 300 effective watts of 5500 light. It works good for me. But I've read a lot about using the 6500K color also to help keep the leaves from yellowing prematurely. My 5000K's seem to do the same trick. I like to get the CFL's as close to the plant without getting too hot. I use air circulation and I use as much reflective materials around the plant as I can. Reflection of the CFL light really helps.

You should start a grow journal and post pics. You are more likely to get input if you post some pics.
