u want at the least 1500 lumens per sq foot
the more the better
that should give u an idew of how many lights u need

if your closet is only 4 feet long then you prob only will be able to fit some 2' floros in there (idk if they make them in a 3' but that would be better) get the kind of fixture that can hold 2 bulbs and get one daylight and one cool white so you get more ends of the spectrums and when you buy the bulbs go for as many watts as you can.

Awesome, actually at the grocery store they have small cfls that are 1500 lumens each n they r only 10$ a pop. Is it worth it to get like 4 of those of just a couple better ones?

well if you need 1500 lumens per sqft and ur closet is 2 by 4 then eight i guess but you can star out with a few then add more as you go but how many plants are you going to be growwing in there?

for three plants i would get at least 4 or 5 per plant. Basically get as many as you can. More = Better

yeah they should work as long as in the right spectrum
u have a 2x4 room so thats 8 sq feet...so u want at least 12000 lumens at the minimum
so thtas like 8 cfl's
u want to keep them fewinches from the plant

So I should set them up all on the walls? Or should I do like three hanging (one directly above each plant n just raise it as it grows), n then one on each side of the plants on the walls? For a total of 9? I mean 4500 lumens per plant spread evenly around the whole plant would work quite well no?

I have the same sixe setup... Use CFLs and soil...The more bulbs the merier....Pay attention to the light tempature or color. I like to grow in 5 gal buckets so if you mess up on 1 you dont kill all of them... Start out with like 2 seeds per bucket.... 50/50 male female probability... Cut the males or smaller growing plants of at the dirt. This increases the fem chances.

Hope this helps

They do make 30" T8's (might have been a T5) but they are difficult to find. I searched all the local stores looking for them, but couldn't find any. How u described the bulbs for each fixture, is identical to how i have mine set up. I'm using 2 Daylight and 2 cool whites. One is only 9 weeks old and already 28" tall.

Lighting has always confused me. I've been told that each plant loves 10000 lumens. or you need atleast 1500 lumens per square feet (also heard the figure as high as 4000 lumens a square foot) My little 2x4 (well technacally 20"x47") area only has 4200 lumens. all 4 plants are healthy as far as i can tell. 1 of them are 9 weeks old and 28" high, 2 are 7 weeks old and are about 18" high and one is only 2 weeks old and is 6" high. Granted the 4th one is a clone that was 3" tall when i cut it. Wish i could find a definative answer on lighting :bigjoint:
