Are cobs really worth it?

LED-COB technology may or may not be on par with hps. But, I still like what it produces. Not everyone needs to be wading through rooms of bud. And not everyone has the means to pay for cooling hot ass room running your high n mighty hps.

Stop being a douchewaffle. We get it. You've got a boner for hps.

I just love proving my point. Keep telling us how great led lights are.................................................

is there anyone else on this forum, WHO IS NOT highly invested in a led light, that has a real opinion on the quality of led grown weed?

Ugh. I get it. Hps grows really good weed. I'm not saying it doesn't. Neither have I said that cobs shit on hps for quality or quantity.

I know hid light still produces exceptional product. And in large quantity.

You gotta remember that they also throw a lot of heat too. Something not everyone can maintain. With cobs. Heat is less of an issue.

Sure. We might not get 3 pounds a light. But, we get enough. Otherwise people wouldn't use them.

see, you still don't get anything i have posted. I know everything you posted. I NEVER said they couldn't grow weed or even grow great weed. I said that led users making bs claims that their weed is better medicine, does no good for the case of led's. That is ALL I said and every led user had a cow.
now I am going to play golf. see ya!!

To be honest I find most people that are still arguing which is best don't even grow very well because their head is stuck so far up their own "Superior lighting source" ass that they forget to actually just grow good quality Cannabis.

Seen folks with thousands worth of LED technology that I have no doubt is a very good piece of kit, with a few shitty looking over fed autoflowers underneath.

They then claim to be qualified enough to smoke some buds and say its top shelf Cannabis.

I have even seen people that have less than 10 grows under their belt arguing that CMH is the best quality lighting source there is. I mean, how in gods name would they know that?

Buy what you need to grow good weed, not what others say is best for you. :peace:

Watts are watts. Leds turn less energy into heat, meaning less money on cooling and 1k HPS to 1k LED, the leds will ALWAYS produce more bud.

What about in colder climates where you may then need to add extra heating to a grow environment with LED, that you don't with HPS.

Does the door not swing both ways?

It is MUCH cheaper to run a slightly larger extractor fan than it is to add extra oil radiators, which cost a small fortune to run.

Surely you've looked at the evidence? There's plenty around if you open your eyes to it. Or do you think all the LED growers here secretly use HPS but have LED's hanging around just for the fun of it?
I get that you are sceptical, which is no bad thing at all, but surely you can see the results from all the detailed info on this and other forums? Nobody is saying "Everyone has to use LED's and if you don't you're an idiot" but people are defending their real experiences.
Most people who have been growing for a while and use LED's probably started on HPS and changed over for a variety of reasons. I certainly know a few guys who were in that situation and are very happy with their LED's, the bud LED's produce and the efficiency with which it is done.
I grow in a small area and for heat control I could only use a 150/200W HPS. I can use 400-600W of LED and the heat is less than the HPS.

I'm not sure why people such as yourself feel the need to constantly slag off LED's? It seems a common occurence when it comes to lighting. As far as I'm aware there is no law saying that you MUST use LED's so why the harsh attitude? If you don't like them don't use them but at least be open to possibilities.

Every industry has a product or 2 that gets hyped. Sometimes for good reason and sometimes not. I always look at all the evidence available before I discount other ways of doing things, perhaps you should also.

Yea, I was the one to point out that in my case it saves on cooling costs and that electricity doesn't cost the same all over. In my case, indoor temperatures often reach over 30c, so it'd be a matter of running AC to keep things cool enough. Irrespective, it doesn't factor in that 1000W of led produces more light than 1000W of hps. It's as simple as that, less energy is turned into heat and more is turned into light.

I'm not 100% certain that 1000w of LED would outdo 1000w of de hps, but that's an argument that will go nowhere unless someone has proof, maybe one day.

But with the climate I have outdoors where I am the temps are below 16-18C maximum for approx 75-80% of the year, avg temps even in summer don't go above 22C.

For me to rely on oil radiators (a very poorly efficient way of heating a room) for that period of time to keep my room temps above 24C minimum would send my electricity consumption through the roof.

This isn't an argument of HID vs LED, but it is one that each light source has it place, and that regardless of numbers and efficiency LED is not always the smart choice.

you know who make these claims???

Highly invested led users who never grew good to begin with
i've grown with both. they both have advantages and disadvantages.
i like QBs a lot. better than hid or cobs. i get good results from them. i get good quality from them. i get good yields from them.
i get a little more quantity from hid, but a little less quality. i'd rather give up 5 to 10 % yield, for 10-20 % better quality.
why don't you buy a good QB and try it before you condemn it? you do different jobs with different tools, why use one tool to do all your jobs in the grow room?

and you wanna be sayin i don't grow good weed?
i got a load of happy customers who'll be glad to tell you you're full of shit

I'd hate to be a stick a stick in the mud, but if the conversation and or argument falls into quality then I think CMH would need to be considered in a new lighting source choice.

I have tried the same cut under HPS de, QB and CMH. And on my soul the CMH was clearly the best smoke. Very similar to the QB weed, if anything slightly more compact, but still for me there was no room for argument, CMH took the gold.
