Are the Apollos HPS experience/feedback

Didn't have enough on the card moved money over and said fuck it and got the 600w 15 bucks more be kinda dumb not too same deal just 600 dimmable

Would the experts here recommend getting the 600 watt over the 400? Is there a large difference in yield etc?

With a dimmable rig you can dim down or go all out. It was a 15 dollar difference with the open hood model. Probably about the same with the closed hood. What is the grow area on a 600 watt any ways?

A 600 will cover 9-13 sq.ft and it can "potentially" yield wayy more, however yield isn't something that just comes from the light itself.

Experience,genetics,phenotypes ect make just as much of a difference as the lights do.
Also keep in mind more light = more heat, a 600 aint no slouch

I'll play with the dimmer a Lil starting with either white widow or blue mystic from nirvana I've already been waiting 3 weeks for the widows all seeds fem +20frebies super excited about the widows though. Probably starting off with just two fems and two random unless they come close together and I'll pop another two and watch my random closely

I got my apollo 600w hps in the mail today!

Yesterday I got the 6 inch blower and filter and got them hooked up, first thing in the morning ill get the light added into the mix and see how it works.
I'll let you guys know!

I bought the Apollo 1000w setup, so far so good, except, yeah too much light for my 4x45, but the digital ballast has a 100/75/50% dimmer switch on it - I've been sticking to the 500w (or 50%, I'm still not sure wtf it even means in terms of wattage so I'm just guessing) and everything is fine minus a few hick-ups from heat temps, low humidity & some light leaf burn. All were curable and have been fixed and now my temps run between 75/70 day/night light cycles.

I think I probably should have gone with the 600 myself, but the dimmer is just fine as I'm going to be upgrading this 1000w with another into a 8x4 for DWC & use the 4x4 I have for mother plants, clones, etc. I use two 240cfm inline fans to extract from cool tube and tent with a passive intake, I'll be upgrading to one high powered fan to cool the bulbs and using the inline duct fans for tent ventilation and keep the passive intakes for negative pressure since I have a big enough room to do so. All in all, the Apollo is a good price and I'm glad I bought it.

WARNING!!! The cool tube has a strip of either plastic or the actual sealant/glue that's above the base of the bulb will melt off and fall on top of the bulb and start to melt to the bulb. You are forewarned! Make sure you peel that shit off so you don't pull a Drew and almost catch your bulb on fire. rollitup.org has been the hugest help in all of this in terms of figuring the small stuff out and getting some good quality feed back & help/tricks.

There is this one too not to hijack your thread. I have been looking at this one and it seems reasonable plus you get the cool tube, which from what I read is the way to go. Only ten dollars more than the other. So one guy said something about better bulbs, do you recommend hortilux?

looks like a better option. for safety reasons you want some kind of enclosed fixture.

I was in a ReStore place today and they had some MH bulbs, 100W, 250W, and a 400W for 2 bucks each. I was tempted to buy the 400W bulb just for the hell of it.

I have been using mine since the end of sept. And have had no issues. The cheapo timer even still works. No rf issues.

Heat....is a bitch though. I'll be cobbed out by June or running a pure sativa this summer

Thinking heat would be manageable with closed hood and correct vent system to cool it? I know is an extra like 200$ for fan filter and all that bs.. but I'm hoping the investment was worth it

I run a 600 hps enclosed hood and only run a 6" inline duct fan and it keeps my SMALL tents temps down with the lights on. No a/c just ambient attic temp. The booster fan is actually 6 feet away from the tent. I have the ducting connected to one side of the light, runs out the hole in the top of the tent and connnects to the booster a few feet away. Mind you I dont run a carbon filter, but the $40 cheap inline fan moves plenty of air.

The other side of the enclosed hood is left open, so the ducting draws air from inside the tent, pulls it through the hood/over bulb and lets it go outside.

And to keep on topic for this thread, I run the $15 apollo hps bulb and its fine and dandy growth no issues

I did two runs with the Apollo bulbs without any issues. My current run is with a much more expensive Ushio bulb, I haven't noticed any gains. Maybe slightly more trichome cover.
