the internals are same as ones in grow lights bro but u got to make it a remote ballast which is easy but if he want to buy new might as well spend it on ones with a remote ballast and better reflector
but i use these lights just use them in cooltube and scrap everything else

yeah those would work just fine. you might have to wire them yourself, they may be harder to cool, and the reflector may not cover the optimal light foot print but plants will grow under that light its is the same as any other hps.

all he needs is guts from used ones and then money saved use for a aircooled reflector
hey op u got any ? on finding what u need or wiring let me know

lol ya they could work after you wire stuff and make extra room for the extra depth because the ballast is attached to the socket and do all the things that they stated above or you could just buy lights ment for what your doing..... Im not saying they wont work but why make things so munch harder then they need to be when theres a flurry of used grow lights on craigs that wont cost anymore then what your trying to do.

Somes time the simplest way is the best way......... instead of trying to be creattive and turn wharehouse lights into grow lights its just easyer to buy grow lights and just be done...... thats just me though...... theres a reason why that light isnt being sold at grow websites and hydro stores...the reason is thats there is lights specificly made for what you want to do...go to a grow site for your lights....

u could use reflector but u want the ballast at top of it to be outside grow aas they generate heat

you guys are right whare house lights with ballast attached to socket is diff. the way to go no doubt about it......

they make grow lights designed for growing.... those are designed for warehouses....i dont understand why everyone tries to use all these "creative" ways to build a room that make everything so complicated. maybe like 15-20 years ago this would be a great thing to do, but now there are literally 100s of used growing lights online that can be had for very low cost. why not do it the right way instead of trying to jerry rig up some setup that eventually you are going to throw away anyway. these threads get so old.
