Hey Icannabis, I want to try a regular seed instead of an auto. With regular/feminized seeds you can try a lot of different growing techniques on your plants. We will have to step up our game if you are joining the next round:) Cannon is looking for someone to spear head the next competition.
I can't wait to get on the next one of these...I'm going to grow White Russian or Afhgan Hindu Kush I think.

On the seed idea -
Hate to say it and all, but for me, Autos are far from ready to replace my regular photoperiods any time soon.
While I'll admit there are some seriouse pluss on the Auto's menu,, Fast, non-cloning, and limeted variety of (seed making) selections are real handicaps for me. Don't even want to discuss stability of strains that I've noticed.
Like golf carts, sports cars, limos, and trucks,,, all very different and I like them all in many ways per application. But for me, a truck works best.
Not to cut on Autos at all,, but they are apples to oranges.

You got any bud showing on that Blueberry at all?
Not all that up on it, but thought most AF Blueberrys were 10 week cycle?
At day 58 I'd expect more showing by now.

What am I missing? (I'm still learning AFs and only asking to learn more) Yup, I'm a dummy. :wall:
Thanks

Mellowman, I actually have a 25 day old Maxi GOM in a 27l DWC at the moment, looking very good so far, other than being a little small. I believe it was down to the simple fact of using a 6" net pot which meant roots had a long distance to travel, however since the roots have reached the res the plant has exploded. So next time I will be using a combination of soil and hydro by first germming it in a small peat pot with compost until roots burst through and put it in the net pot with diahydro stones, this I'm hoping will give the seedling a much better start/boost.

Chief, that’s one hell of a sexy auto, my mouth started to water! Do you ever think of taking a bite out of a bud, or it just me? MMMM yummy Skunk cookies!

Canon He’s one ugly mutt, I wonder what the neighbours have been throwing over the fence for it to eat?. Could you ever imagine it jumping up and licking your face? I bet it shits are more attractive! Sorry I do talk some shit don’t I?

Seems like a few have had problems with the auto genetics being what they were billed as. Sucks to try something and it ends up being the same old or worse. I was fortunate and picked a winner from the beginning of my auto experiment. Short Stuff seeds have been exactly what they were billed as fast growing, low maintenance, sticky, dense bushes. I plucked a few of the ripe seeds off of the female Blues and ended up with a couple hundred. those were just the ones that were ripe and easy to get to. I have already given most of them to a friend. I still have hundreds more on the plants.

For me the auto is the best way to go until the laws change or I can move to a better location

Thanks Marcus Tweed, there are times when I want to pinch a small bud and smoke it but not to eat it:)

Barbs, not sure the ref is going to like you cutting back on the light, otherwise I would of done this myself.

If it didnt auto, its not an auto and out of the comp, but I aint the ref. Got my fingers crossed for you.

Could you pm me on wheather it was from a orignal breeders pack or Seed bank's pick and mix selection, I dont want to shame the company, just maybe with your permission get a refund for the both of us?

"Must be auto flower capable of growing within time frame. Plant does NOT need to be cut / dried / cured to be considered finished." - From rules

The rule was to allow longer running (super) autos into the contest and no mention of lighting was included.
In the end, I would expect to see significant bud production. As whitnessed, these autos are not that reliable and prefer to allow it,,, at least for now. (and I too am hoping for the best)

Sounds like a loophole or catch 22! What was the time frame and how do you judge whether a plants an auto or a seed that has been misplaced with a photoperiod strain? surely not by looking at the rules to see what’s been missed out or bent to suit?

From my understanding, someone could have easily got a photoperiod strain and put it under a 12/12 so how would we know, if we don’t use common judgement and experiences?

If a plant responds to 12/12 and starts to bud, is it an Auto? Simple answer, NO

I don’t mean to stir, but I've accepted my fate and been a good sport about it, instead I could have lied!?

So where does this leave us, other than a bad taste in my pipe?

Sorry Barbs, I bet you must hate me now...but your not throwing fair dice. Has nothing to do with the plant being sensitive, But I am glad you did the right thing and been honest about it. I have grown over 16 Autos in the last 7 months; I noticed this lack of bud production with yours from day 30! I’m sure someone who has done an auto blueberry will confirm this?!

This could be the end of all things with this competition with me, probably for the best to be honest, I’m sorry to say

Canon what is your discussion?

Does anyone think I’m talking out of line here? Please speak up

Marcus, I believe her plant did auto. It already has hairs showing sex. I believe she is trying to use the light cycle to induce a quicker flowering response, not to get around the autoflowering rule. Her plant has been put through some stress and may be stunted.

If you grow a photoperiod plant in 18 hours after about 5-6 weeks the sex usually shows and pubes start sprouting.

The apical meristem (top node) is what senses the change in light cycle, if you remove it then it takes longer for the plant to recognize the change in light. I don't know exactly how autos work, but I'm sure if you top it, it will take a bit longer to flower.

Hairs are just simply Pre-flowers that you get when the plant reaches sexual maturity, I have them all over the plant, well ~I suppose it doesn’t matter now, we’ll never know. Anyway no more about it from me, I’m out and I’m not the ref, so I will shut up my face!
