Strain: Violator Kush

Breeder:
Barney's farm

Grow info:
Vegged from rooted clone from a mother that was approx 3 month old. Clone was vegged for 8 weeks and flowered for 59 days, when Trichomes were about 10 % amber 90% milky, it was chopped at the base without any manicuring to ensure chlorophyll breaks down into smells, thc/cannabinoid complexity, taste and potency

Cure at time of the test:
9 days.

Bag appeal: A+, the buds are neon/sage green with allot of density, looks to have been touched by the first frost. Hundreds of hard, round ,calyxes stacking on one another, form towered fox-tale calyx structures, becoming more evident the finer the manicure.
Here is an example.

Before manicure

After manicure

You can still get even finer in the manicure with detail.

Smell: accents of "poo" and "rubber" with deep, tropical fruit undertones, all together comes to form a "cotton candy" aroma. Very complex.:weed:

The bud, in flower, looks like pearls are under the THC and plant matter, its very beautiful.

Taste:
is just as good as the smell, its tropical fruity, and very earthy and kushy.

Effect: Very much relaxing and calming, good for pain or sleep aid. Great for bedtime and relaxing at night, stress relief properties, as well as anxiety relief attributes, a very very complex feel to it, a self centered calmed and stoned effect, when you get real medicated you seem to trip over your words and you fell numb, feels like you took muscle relaxers.
Very medicinal strain, scale 1-10, and 10 being the best i give it a 10, cause it does its thing very well. 22% THC. CBD 1.5

Medicinal uses:
Anxiety
Chronic pain
back/neck pain
muscle spasms
insomnia
stress
appetite

Final thoughts: I thought its a beautiful must try strain for any one who has ever been interested, it is a must keep strain as well, i believe i had a different pheno than most, it was some crazy sativa looking pheno but im going to keep her around for a long time. Barney's farm description of Violator Kush is extremely accurate, when they say you need to support the buds in flower, you have to, my whole plant capsized after i cut her support strings. Pretty damn good for a attitude pick n mix single order.
I will update this report with more information soon.
I will report on the edibles and concentrates as soon as they are made.

This is a picture after i hung the plant upside down after cutting at the base.

Which strains should i steer clear of from barneys?
I heard blue cheese and pineapple chunk are junk.
Any others?

just wanted to chime in on the red dragon remark you made cacamal, i just finished a grow and am on a second grow(both from seed) of the red dragon and i was very UNdisappointed. and also the pineapple chunk tryingtogrow mentioned before ur reply i had that in my last grow as well and in my opinion the chunk is better than the dragon. but ya kno to each their own...everything is opinionated.thanks.poop.

Yea i think strains are subjective like music and books etc.
I am confident in my technique that i can grow any strain to its best potential, in the end anything i order from a reputable breeder will come out top notch.
I think with people who told me whatever of barneys farm strains suck, is actually just their growing technique that sucks, not the strain.
People say female seeds hermie this, hermie that, but i dont experience it, i call people out, telling them to stop fucking with their plants so much, and dont stress, or light leak etc.

I think the same thing. Never had a hermie here. I'm going to be adding Violator Kush and Vanilla Kush from Barney's to my seedling.veg area soon. I just finished Nirvana's Raspberry Cough and Ice and really digging the Ice. I have Tangerine Dream and Utopia Haze in beginning of flower now.

Beautiful buds tryingtogrow very nice VK

Violator, it will have to be either tied up or SCROGGED or tomato caged or staked, while in flower. it triples in size after the switch to 12/12. Just a heads up.bongsmilie

Great report man, +rep
I had VK in my perpetual grow for a long time and lost it due to an idiotic labeling mistake on my part.

Gotta put it in the top 5 strains ive grown out, those buds get so damned dense they MUST be supported. The stank is unique too. I got lucky and got a real fruity smelling pheno, smelled like rotting fruit :-)

I grew 5 Barneys VK fem seeds and definately got 2 phenos but grew the shorter ones (limited height space) in a scrog. Found the high very different. Light and buzzy, Sativa-like (harvested at 30% amber trichs). May have been as i had to dry fast, but i did as best a cure i could afterwards. Definately one for a scrog. 18oz dry from 3 in a flood-drain 600w grow that didn't go smoothly did me fine.
Also, my stretch was less in terms of width (obviously height doesn't count in scrog) but found it became far more bushy and was pulling bag-fulls of fan leaves out and still leaving the underneath of the canopy in darkness.
Think 1 plant per 2x2 ft is about right in a scrog with a decent veg time. I would go for 4 under a 4x4 screen with a 600w. Mine seemed to doing alright up to edges of the screen, even under a 250w MH in veg so I suspect it doesn't have huge light requirements. Also had a serious root system, so will put more hydroton in next time I grow this (kept a mother) and raise the flood levels.
