When there is a viable candidate who actually supports it.
Way too simplistic.

You never take into consideration the polarized opposition.

61% support legalized weed. Is it legal? Will it be legal soon? 5 years? 10 years?
15 years? when?

60% support single payer (according to you). You see it on the horizon?

It's impossible until it isn't. Weed is legal now in some form in the majority of States.

I firmly believe that single payer health care is possible when We the People unite behind a party committed to making it happen.

I believe this could begin to happen as soon as 22 months from now, and definitely in 46 months.

Something has to happen.

I'm a bit pessimistic about it being anything good.

The current regime isn't big on planning, there could be a decade of clean up just to get back to where we were.
And they still have 35-40% approval.

You ever ask a Trump wing nut about single payer?

They act like it's straight from hell. Or Karl Marx if they read a book sometime in the last 20 years.

My hopeful expectation is that enough of the right wing in this country will realize that the Republican Party has been using them for the sole benefit of the rich that they'll be on board for an issues based candidacy in the next election.

In order for that to happen, this administration has to continue making things worse. It is something they have a unique talent for...

It works, then eight to ten years later they forget, and need to be reminded again.

Sadly you're right.

I fell like all we're doing is rearranging the deck chairs on the Ship of State called Titanic as it heads for the next Great Crash.

And the Republican band played on; this week's tune being 'repeal Dodd-Frank!'

Funny how our grandparents passed away and we repeat the same stupid mistakes that got us the Crash of 1929 and the Great Depression? I'm certain it's not a coincidence.

I'm afraid this upcoming October could be ugly.

Good, it will seal their fate the following year. We'll pick up the pieces and start over again:wall:

I'm afraid the mess will be much, much bigger this time. Last time, millions of people lost everything and went hungry. Fuck, THAT happened as recently as 2008 and we watched while the banksters got bailouts and homeowners got kicked out into the street! I keep asking what it will take for Americans to figure out how badly we've been screwed?

Repealing Glass-Steagal, eviscerating the SEC, muzzling the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and letting the Wall Street investment banks off the hook is never going to come back and bite us in the ass, is it? I mean, what could POSSIBLY go wrong?!

The problem is not public support, it's accurate political representation. 60% is a strong majority, so why don't Democratic politicians show public support for things like legalizing marijuana or adopting single payer? Heidkamp stated publicly she doesn't support a single payer system because of the national debt. Yet she supported Trumps bombing of Syria at a few hundred million dollars. She's shown herself to be just as corrupt as any sitting Republican. She believes there's a blank check to fight offensive wars against countries that never attacked us but we have to be fiscally conservative when it comes to providing universal healthcare for Americans.. That is absolutely shameful.

We attain these things through actual representation by removing the financial influence from corporations in politics.

In Louisville?
Coors Field in Denver, baby! Where the balls fly out of the stadium OVER the scoreboard!

I was in left center outfield and I was getting shelled all afternoon. It was a classic slugfest. The Rockies even won the game, lol Best ballgame I've ever attended, hands down.

And that's the ONLY way we'll attain them, nevermind keep them.

Citizen's United is the worst thing that's ever happened to our country and it didn't even come at the hands of a foreign power.

Rome fell because of internal corruption, too. We are not immune, and we sure as hell haven't proven ourselves to be any smarter.
