From what I understand, and I might be wrong, is that led produces more light than heat, but that light turns into heat in your grow space. So the heat is basically the same. Having 12 cobs compared to 1 hps bulb, does disperse the heat over a larger area, which makes it easier to fan up to your exhaust.
