That's interesting. I've read that it is recommended that all the plants should be of the same strain. In fact, I ran across an interesting article in Science Daily where researchers found that plants can recognize their "siblings" and are more likely to share root space with them than with unrelated plants, I kid you not:

I wonder if this holds true for clones. Anyway, I'll have a chance to find out because retirement is just around the corner and I will be able to experiment to my heart's content.

On a closer reading of the article it seems that they also try to suck up all the nutrients if the plants aren't "siblings." That would be a good thing in a hydroponic environment that never runs out of nutrients. Okay, your observation makes sense and it's a good point.

wow thats crazy, talk about sibling rivalry. i checked out my plants , and wow what a change two weeks in veg and i am looking at clones that are 12 -15 inches. on every clone i have about 7 - 8 nodes on each plant. i changed all nuits and lamps and timers. time to flower. i had to spray for powdery mold this weekend, i started seeing small round patches of white. i think it may have come from the club when i bought the clones. i noticed small white spots but i thought that was from being misted when cloning. i used safer soap from the hardware store. and next week i will respray with safer soap and i will add neem oil to it, i think that will take care of it.

Hi fishenfool,

I have a 400W lamp in the box. If 475cfm cools 600W, then 316.6666...cfm cools 400W. But your lamp is not confined in a box, right?

Another thing is if I increase the suction too much, it will suck out the CO2 that is added during flowering too fast. I will look for something that is closer in the range of 330-350 cfm.

Meanwhile, I made a scrog screen to fit inside the flowering chamber and a number of clones are in their first week of flowering. I am bending their backs to the yoke, so to speak. It will be interesting to see if I can get a good screen going. My son just gave me a digital camera, so as soon as I figure out how I will post pics.

my 600 w lamp is in a air cooled hood. and yes moor air flow will decrese your co2. bcnl recamends 5 psi on the preshure regulater. if u increese your air flow i would increas your co2 . try 7 - 10 psi

That's a good idea for the CO2. And I've found the solution to the fan problem. I am getting a Fantech FGC 6M model that goes up to 430 CFM. But then I put it on a Fantech WC15 voltage regulator, which means I can reduce it to a superlow 100 CFM if I want. I will find the proper balance between the required CFMs and the carbon filter.

In a way, it's a pain in the ass. I have to install a 4'' duct that bends 90 degrees, attach that to a 4-to-6'' duct increaser, then the Fantech 6'' inline fan, then a 6-to-4'' reducer, and then the 4'' carbon filter. What I won't do for nice flowers ...

However, there is one thing that puzzles me because I don't know anything about aero- or hydrodynamics. If I install the inline duct fan, how will that affect the air flow since there is already a fan in the duct, the fan that came with the bloombox and is screwed to the wall of the flowering chamber? Is the effect cumulative, so that the CFM from the first fan gets added to that of the second fan? Or, since the first fan is slower and of a lower capacity than the second, will it actually impede the second fan from working efficiently? I wonder if anyone could help out with this. If I can avoid it, I'd rather not unscrew the fan from the wall but will if I have to.

The 2 most important elements will be heat control and odor control..

You should also look for these units used.. You probably can get one for 1/2 the money. I am sure garages across AMERICA are filled with these units and are just collecting dust (not in use).

YES....i have 4 of them .... works great ...ive just started using dirt in them ...WOW...short indica are a dream in this box.....,dont listen to cheap people who say 3500 is too much ... they dont smell and all u have to do for heat is open window ...and get a fan for out the box and inside

you can use dirt in the producer?

I too experience heat issues with a bloombox that BCNL reps, "have never heard before". My box runs around 13 degrees above ambient, 18 inches from a wall, with all the vent covers off and a ceiling fan running on high and an AC unit pointed directly at the intake/outtake.

i have bought 3 of them, needless to say, i dont use them any more... for the money you can build a way better box, or a whole room equid with co2, 2 1000watt lights, carbon filter and fans... and get way more bud... 2cents...

Yeah. I would have built a couple tables and bought some 1000w lamps but I live in an apartment. So this will be a decent investment for the next couple years.

word... i was just saying... it is a nice lil thing for an apartment.. except you could do it your self for half the money....keep that in mind...
