-boring 'ol 230w 154lm/w led strip build

Hey guys i just finished my board with ten TCI 3000K ones.
Now my "problem" is that the included drivers get really warm and i'd like to change them.

Will this driver fit my 10 strips or do i need something else? ---> Meanwell HLG-240H-C700A

Even KISS-er: The Minimalist. (AKA, The Lazy) Two half-sized jelly roll pans with 5 3000K TCI strips, mounted with thermal tape, hung by 1/2"x4" eye bolts, hanger straps with drivers zip-tied, Wago connectors (still exposed, but hey, I'm the only one who's supposed to see them) and ground connected to the pan. 2'x2'x6' tent, one Blue Magoo BX2 plant. (Started with three, but two of them went hermie on me after I stressed the shit out of them by too heavy defoliating and adding too much light at the same time.) Max temperatures are ~120F on the drivers and 125F-130F on the lights. I may add a fan or two later, we'll see. The jelly-roll pans were an idea I stole from a guy on one of the other forums (THC farmer, I think), Baudelaire, who sells kits with Samsung strips.

I'd like to add some UVB to this, probably just some reptile lights or something comparable. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions? (Size/wattage, especially--thanks.)

Thank you for all the who posted in this thread, without your input I would not have this great light for $120...
damn.. that's some 'ghetto' creativity, great results. Only thing I'd do is toss in a few grommets into the baking sheet holes.

hey late reply sorry, I run these with a fan blowing on the drivers and the strips. I have posted a few pages back the voltage and current specs. Ill see if i can find the specs to help you purchase a better driver if you still need it

I think it was OLD MOTHER SATIVA who posted a link to these TCI strips a few months ago. I got some too on 230V AC.

They seem to work great, although it's hard to say anything about their actual efficiency.
So i can plug these into my 240v outlet with no issues ?

Upgrading to 50-80A of 240v electric service for my grow area , gonna crank some units out this winter !!!!

Like to know if these and the meizhi boards will take 240v

I'm in Australia and we have 240v as standard and mine plug straight in, not sure if they send out different ones to different countries though..

According to the driver datasheet the nominal voltage is in the range 220V-240V. Don't know about meizhi boards

Not using lm561c it seems. I would guess lm415 but that isn't an actual part number i can find. It's printed on the strip face.

Seems decent for the price. No extra driver to buy. I got two packs of five,
5x 4000k
5x 3000k.
23w each 154lm/w = 35,4200lm total.

Ill report back when they arrive! Until then, any suggestions on mounting? I imagine ill look for aluminum bars. Links to good deals would be appreciated

A 600w hps bulb does 150 lumen/ watt , i don't think this is any upgrade over those ,if anything it's a downgrade due to spectrum.

Actually we look at umol as you stated before. HPS spectrum is no more efficient and in fact the lumen to umol conversion is greater for HPS (so you end up with less umol per lumen).

Either way, HPS produces 1150umol/s for 600W ie 1.9umol/s/w. The 154lm/W strips come out at 2.1umol/s/W. So indeed that's only a small advantage for the led. Sill, at this price point that's already fine.

However the real losses with HPS are further down the line. An HPS bulb produces 1.9umol/s/W, but then you lose 20% of the light on the reflector. So then you are left with 1.5umol/s/W leaving the reflector on its way to the plants..

Then come the wall losses. A 600W HPS needs to be at about 20" to 24" above the plants. At lets say 1% per inch of height (for a 4'x4' tent woth decent reflective walls) makes it a 20% loss at least. Which means you end up with 1.2umol/s/W by the time the light reaches the plants.

Led strips can be at 4" and lose only 4%. So from that 2.1umol/s/W you end up with 2.0umol/s/W by the time it reaches the plants. Although in fairness, a lot of the growers here seem to hang their lights at 18" or something so they needlessly incur extra losses.

Still even if we leave those wall losses out, 1.5umol/s/W leaving the HPS reflector vs 2.1umol/s leaving the led strips is still quite a decent advantage for the leds.
