I read his job description as an officer of the law. They dont avoid child killers in action. Maybe he missed that
part as an officer posted at a school with current shooter threats in place. If I was a cop like he was I'd do what my boss and union said I should have done and engage the shooter.
I posted accounts from children and heroes some still living and the cop can be seen scooting for cover and hiding on security footage.
I would engage the killer even if it was your children in that school being shot at and none of my own. Would you ?

Put a gun in a room. Do not let a person near it.

Will the gun get up and kill you or will it lay there doing nothing until a person does something with it?

It is the intent of the gun wielder that matters whether a gun is used offensively or defensively or if it just lays there gathering dust.
