I repeat. Listen to the people who were there. That lone officer with nothing but a hand gun rushing in literally blind would have been a casualty much more likely than a hero. He couldn't have even known how many shooters there were. You crack me up.

but knew which firearms the kid owned, the drugs he was on, the name of the nut too, he was handed the case.

This 15 year old child stood in front of the shooter to protect children, and did indeed save dozens of lives with their brave actions.

Borges’ best friend, Carlos Rodriguez, told ABC News, "None of us knew what to do. So, he took the initiative to just save his other classmates.”

This is 35 year old, Scott Beigel, he was a Geography teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Beigel was murdered after letting students take shelter in his classroom & got in the way of the shooter as he tried to enter the class. Beigel saved many lives.

An unnamed janitor helped save students who were unknowingly running toward the shooter. Student David Hogg told CNN that he and his classmates began running with other students after the suspected shooter pulled the fire alarm. “Thank god for a janitor that stopped us,” Hogg told CNN, adding that she told them to run the other way and then ushered them into a culinary classroom for safety. “She saved my life, and she saved easily 40 others there.”

Ashley Kurth, a 34-year-old culinary teacher, told the Daily Beast that she heard the shooting from her classroom and went to lock the door, when she saw “a whole mass of children” running out of the freshman building (where the shooter was). “It was surreal, just watching them come out like that. I just started grabbing as many kids as I could.

None of these citizens was armed with a firearm or or ammo. Cowardly cop hid around the corner

One guy managed to kill twelve on a secure military (Naval) installation. Hundreds were mobilized, They didn't send in one person with a single hand gun. Dummy.

I'm pretty sure we'll hear more about the situation in Florida from people who provide training for officers. I'm willing to bet that professionals would advise not rushing in blind.

You have Rambo fantasies. I encourage you to act on them. Maybe do a live fire exercise with a buddy and rush him with your pea shooter in the teeth of fire from an AR-15. No doubt your buddy will be fine and the world won't mourn your loss.

Thanks for the racist rant but that wasn't my point in posting it. He managed to do so much damage in a military installation. The myth of the good guy with the gun always stops the bad guy was a casualty of this shooting.

Dude, my point was that even a military base where there are hundreds or thousands of people who are proficient with a gun was not able to defend itself from a determined and unpredictable attack by a determined lone assailant. The details of the attacker are unimportant in this context.

Part of the process of privatization of public services is to make those public services terrible so that people will seek other options. This is well known to social scientists and economists.

It may well be that Betsy DeVos is banking on school shooters scaring parents from enrolling their children into public schools as part of her plan to ruin public education.

It does sound like a conspiracy theory but this regime is pretty crazy. Anyway, I'm not claiming this is a fact that I accept as reality, only that I posit that this is a possibility. I'm not even saying that the regime is behind the massacres, just that "no good crisis ought to go to waste". It seems obvious enough that privatization of the public education system is one of their goals.

There were many failures that occurred before that kid opened up on his former school classmates. Starting with the gun lobby and the gun manufacturer on down through legislators and public safety officials. They all should die, according to your logic.

It's one way to get people serious about gun control. Seems extreme.

The fort Hood shootings are an example to show the lie to the myth of the good guy with the gun as a reliable means to prevent mass murders.

Gun control regulations have been demonstrated to reduce gun violence permanently. More guns on the street will just lead to more violence, not less. But then again, you are a stupid racist dog abuser who never gets it right. I'm just using you as a foil and don't expect you to get it.

I'm not scared of posting any content.
I would have shot the freak in the back without one more killing, had I promised to do so a part of my lifelong job
according to my job description. Kids and parents felt better he was on patrol, expecting him to do his job no more.
Good thing some 15 year olds and teachers fought back took bullets and saved dozens more from being murdered though.
