Cfl Proximity To Foliage

well it depends on the socket. i think most sockets are 60 watts (check the packaging) so thats two 30 w or one 42. ive always just used 1 bulb per socket and been done with it

pretty much id be carefull tho like less than 200 660 watts cfl would fry a plant when the lights are that close but i mean 4-6 bulbs would be fine

The recent surge of cfl use is staggering in my geography. And i have found that cfls produce FAST healthy plants with relative short internode spacing. But the only draw back is when reaching full potential during the flowering phase, u need alot and alot meens alot of power(35-45wtts a peice) shit adds up. So Ive found awsome results. By starting a plant on cfls(fast healthy growth) and use a standard HPS bulb to finish and flower. one single HPS bulb has the same lumen rating as 5 or more CFL'S. This is my own conclusion hope it helps.:bigjoint:bongsmilie:blsmoke:

i'm using CFLs for my first grow, got 10 24W CFLs for a space about 3-4 ft wide and 5ft high.
also, a bit off topic but, does it really make that much of a difference if i used 2700K bulbs for the whole grow, my mate did and he got 2 Oz off one plant...

as far as height it does your plant will be thicker and more vigorous if you veg with the 6500ks. its worth the extra $25 for them

yeh you could say this about hps too thou ????
ive used cfl's well 1 yes 1 cfl 250w envirolite and had amazing results but i wuldnt use cfl's for flowering unless i had some reall power i use a 400w hps to flower

i mean if your going to do a large grow and you want to go cfl then youll need a large T5 ho fixture but honestly HID is cheaper and about the same efficiency if not more but youll have to do more work for cooling.

400W HPS is maximally 20% more effective at RED spectrum(vs 6500k). And 10% less effective at BLUE spectrum(vs 6500k). 2700k CFLs stomp HPS(in RED and BLUE). HPS peak around 560nm. Not good for shit.

HPS emit a bunch of yellow-green(500-600nm) light. Humans see this light as whiter(more intense). Plants basically ignore it (~26% average utilization). The high pressure broadens this spectrum, but is still not ideal.

yea but im if i was doing a comercial grow i wouldnt drop $700 a fixture.......... im not starting an arguement i use cfls in all my grows but if i was doing a 4x8 room i would go hps. the efficiency for the price is remarkable. if i had an endless suply of cash id buy a big t5 ho fixture
