ChilLED grow light

Looks like Chilled have removed all DIY kits/parts from the website...not sure if it's temporary or whether they're discontinued. Back looking at COBs it is then...

I ended up choosing to run 2x 400w strips for a 4x4 space for the extra juice, and flexibility over the 600w. Feels like i just got a nintendo for the first time!!!! Would love to see some in action shots if anyone would like to update

Now that would be ironic.

The KING of DIY LED buys a principle interest in an LED company that sells DIY parts and all of a sudden DIY is gone and replaced with PnP.

Not saying that PnP is bad, but it isn't DIY, and isn't priced anywhere near it.

Gold rush days. Getting rich selling picks and shovels.

I just watched the vid last night, they are asking for a non-proprietary connector I guess; like a fourbox clip, kind of like GPU style. but they will be like Belkin selling the dongles.

I dunno, Ive still never seen a chilled board, an its strange watching GM w/o the headgear.

it seems like he got a nice lab up there, so lets give him some time to work.

ahem...he does need to start a new grow though. your in WA access to some great genetics. if i can pick plz plz plz pick something from Exotic Genetix Seeds.

really though he needs to start a grow, if not just to get more traffic for his venture.

It would be sad if this is true that you can no longer buy boards from them. The website appears to be a shift to just selling products to commercial operations. It's the exact same move Build my LED did before they changed their name to fluoence and stuck to commercial market.

Hope GM doesn't let us down...I ain't paying 3 grand for a light...back to the COB's...

Looks very decent this kit, and not too expensive. Wonder about the boards though, are they the 200w boards trimmed down to 125w? Hope they're not just doing kits n full fixtures...the weight of the drivers makes sending to the UK not affordably sensible, can source them here...need the parts individually available also, boards especially.

These guys definitely seem to listen to their customer base, so id say shoot them an email

Well, it's still a kit for now. It will be interesting to see how granular they let you go. Can you buy just boards? It looks like you have to buy the kit, which is more pnp than diy. Sure, you have to build a frame, but that doesn't make it diy.

Time will tell. Looking forward to seeing more offered.

So after spending a few days with 2x 400w Chilled strips in my 4x4 garden, I can say with confidence I am absolutely pleased with the investment.

Some things worth noting:

1. The quality of the build and components is top shelf (you can see and feel that excellent hand assembled USA quality)

2. The light penetration is fantastic, since the light source is not just one source, we are getting light down across all of the plants with a more even spread. (speaking from the perspective of coming from a 400w HPS setup)

3. Personalised and genuine customer service for purchasing and setting up for optimal performance. (Growmau5 and Vitaly both helped with getting me set up)

4. The spectrum tuning on this is fantastic. Blues, Reds and whites are all individually adjustable by 1% increments. No more external timers, and white mode is absolute perfection when checking the plants. Also sometimes I can forget to turn off white mode when working in the garden, but I've set the timer to revert back to full spectrum after 10 minutes.

5. Being able to dial in light intensity is very handy. This allows more control for lowering lights in nice and close when vegging clones and if you need to lower temps during certain months, but being able to also raise it up and get them photons to rain hell is also a beautiful sight to behold.

5. Sunrise/ Sunset: I am still yet to delve into this feature heavily, but would love to hear others experiences

6. Fan options on the lights (as opposed to duct or liquid cooling) is reasonably quiet and is something I value.

I have been running 21 inches above the canopy at 75% strength (roughly sitting at 600watts) during generative flowering cycle, and the plants are very receptive to the new change so far, after leaving their old environment. Unfortunately, nothing negative to say at this stage, other than I feel spoiled.

Happy to post results in the future

Here’s the tent setup:
2 x 400w Chilled Tech LED’s running in 4x4: Golden Lemons Day 27F
This is my sixth grow ever so far, still learning good effective training methods

Damn, that seems like a shit-ton of light for a 4x4! Or is that what ChilLED recommends?
