Day 35:
The girls are looking great! #5 still hasn't confirmed sex, might flip in the next day or two anyway, I'm running out of room!

Got my new fan today; required some surgery to get it in.

Ripped out the old setup.

Mounted

Temp seem to be in control now. Smell is definitely in check. I lost some vertical space, but a lighting revamp is in store, so we'll see how that plays out.

Day 38:

Things were rolling along just fine in the garden, then I got some unfortunate news:

#5 waited all this time to come out of the closet, and I get more nutbags. So I chopped the dude and moved #3 over to the center of the box. I would advise against moving your plant once the SCROG net is set up, even if you aren't weaving and just tucking.

Well, looks like this has become an experiment to see how much I can get out of my one lady. I'll veg her out a little bit more while she recovers and flip maybe in the next 10 days or so. This is from a couple days ago, I'll get some current pics up later tonight.

Day 40:

Getting just the tiniest bit of tip burn, might ease up a bit on the nutrients next feeding. Also, humidity is getting too low with the one pot in there now. I've got a larger humidifier on hand that I'll have to fit in there to keep things in line.

looking good there mate. Your cob got me inspired to build one myself using the citizen 1212s and a meanwell hlg480h. If I'm right 8x117w on that driver should run about 50% efficiency? Still a cob noob but think I'm starting to get the idea. Voltmeter ammeter is a really nice touch too.

Thanks man. I'm glad I sparked a flame in someone! Are you running two drivers? No way to run 8 cobs at 117w each on a 480w driver like that. Efficiency has a number of variables, but they should run right around 46-48% when all is said and done.

No. You got that mixed up mate. I know they won't run at 117w. I even said full power from the 480w would be about 50w a chip. The 46 to 48% you say pretty much confirms this for me mate

Nah man, you didn't. Reread your post. Wish you all the best with your build though!

You're right dude. I didn't. But was meant to. And nice one. I will post a thread up once I've managed to get my head around it a bit more and sourced parts. Can I call on you for bits of advice if I get stuck along the way?

Of course man, that's why we're all here. You should start a thread in the LED section for your questions though, you'll get more than just me answering there.

Day 42:

She's really starting to fill out, lots of new bud sites pushing through the canopy; she seems to be enjoying the extra room!

I noticed a recovery period of slow growth after I did the last round of defoliation, and I'm already a bit behind where I wanted to be, so I haven't done any since. I've just been tucking the fan leaves out of the way when the little stalks get tall enough. Haven't noticed any yellowing lower growth, and almost all leaves are still getting some light. Any tips on defoliation during veg?

Got my new humidifier in. Works like a charm.

Tips on defoliation at any point in the cycle from previous experience are keep it minimal. Even in veg one or two leaves a day so as not to cause any unnecessary stress. And be even more selective in Bloom. That's where I fucked up getting giddy whilst high. Ended up chopping pretty much every fan leaf. Lesson learnt there. It's a labour of love growing in soil mate everything is slower. Since switching to coco there's no going back for me. Here's my girls 2 days after flip (today) And after about 4 weeks veg from seed DSC_1038.JPG

Thanks. Yeah I took a few big fans at once from each lady when they were pretty small, and they took a while to get over it. I'll probably start pulling a couple here and there.

I nipped a few on mine today. I was seeing a bit of an iron deficiency. So made up a foliar feed of superdrive to make all the micros readily available to the leaves until the root zone is corrected. There is a before and after pic on my thread from today. I literally took 5 or 6 leaves from each plant that were blocking light or decreasing airflow before foliar cos no one wants a pm issue

I haven't been foliar feeding anything. I'll definitely play around with some different options next run. Any suggestions? I've got plenty of airflow, just blocking lots of light to the lower nodes. Am I good to pull these massive fans at the base of each branch?

Honestly mate if your root zone ph is off then foliar can literally save your shit. I don't usually do it in flower but it's day 4 so it will be sweet. Ive made myself a rule. If it's blocking more than 2 budsites or it's a contender for pm it's worth taking. But obviously never take too much. I did what you did (but in flower)and it wasn't good. At least you have learnt in veg lol.

PH seems to be okay. I'm using the GH drops, so I have to eyeball it, but I try to keep it right about 6.5. After letting the chlorine evap from my tap water PH gets up to like 8, it's insane. Using like 1ml/gal of PH down to get it right.

I don't know if it's the same where you are but my cold water PH comes out close to 8.if I run it hot and let it cool it sits about 6.5 at room temperature. Then I ph down to about 5.5 in straight coco
