Closet CFL grow...

appreciate it...trying out the buds for less method...figure it cant hurt. i got the NL cause i heard it was rather easy to grow and i dont want to get too exotic too early, but im really interested in the jock horror...
The jock is a quicker finisher than the original Jack Herer with better qualities so it's a great strain. NL is a great beginner strain too & it's a good daily toker if you don't want to be totally medically hazed out all the time. Good producer too, low smell, good shit.

sorry, been on the grow journal. here are some updated pics. its now day 12 and looking SWEET. the 2 northern lights are beasts and one jock is too. the other jock, i call it stunt jock, is way behind. im gonna swith to 12/12 at the end of the week so i put it under my strongest bulb. im hoping the bigger ones will give me some clones, especially the jock. how stressful is it on a plant to clone after ive started flowering. i dont want to turn em hermie, but ive got plenty of time to allow for rooting and revegging if i take cuttings later. any suggestions? peace.....

My advice first of all is to be patient. I vegged for almost 2 months before flowering. Your plants are at the point where you can top them. I recommend actually topping twice, for four main kolas. The plant I did that with for the first time in my setup now is flourishing so much, it dominates all the other plants in the garden. Basically cut off the newest upper node & two new ones will grow in. Once they each have grown 3 of their own nodes, cut off the upper node again, & four new ones will appear. At that point you can take cuttings/clones from the lower branches of the plant to spur the growth in the upper part for larger kolas. Try it, with at least one plant, you will be glad you did. Both the jock & the NL will respond well to this. You can also try LST, where you tie the plant down to allow more bud sites to get direct light exposure. It can increase yields quite nicely as well, but I prefer the four tops.

yea, i was thinking about topping at least one to see the difference, which would be better to top? not too sure about the two month vegging, cause with the bench im only gonna have about 4.5ft of grow room. at the rate these are growing theyd be small trees in 6 weeks, not really good for cfl's. will definetly be doing some LST. im still basing this first grow on BUDS FOR LESS but am willing to make modifications as i go. i want to take my time with this so i can figure out the best method for my growing conditions. also, does topping inhibit upward growth?

Bummed out! My bubbleponic grow turned into a complete failure. Followed instructions and advice from seasoned vets but no luck. I salveged one white russian seedling and germinated my last two seeds and put them in soil. At least I am making the best out of a disapointing situation. Got to keep my closet grow alive! Happy growing everybody. Peace out.

lookin good killer redd i tried he jock awhile back and it reponds very well to LSTing, revegging, pretty much anything you could throw at it. got 4oz of dank lemony skunk outta a 20" LST'd indica pheno under a 400w HPS just to kinda give u an idea of what to expect. It was so good every thing I'm using now has some jack lineage one way or another. I'm doing a full CFL grow with AK 48's now. They're Jock X Ice. Plus 2 more jack crosses from Sannies shop.

Good luck

thanks cush...i swear those jock leaves look like they'd go good with ranch dressing. or maybe thats the white widow talkin....cough. oh well. ok...just left the grow, decided it was time to put these kids into flower. each of them are at least 4" tall and have 6 nodes or more with lots of secondary growth. hopefully with some lst'ing i can keep these down to a good managable size for my cfl's. dont need no huge plants here, shootn for around 20". will post pics later. PEACE............

I top my plants at a little beyond where your girls are now, then start the LST a week or so later when they start to show the result (dividing so side branches become tops). I would then either give them another week and stick them into flower (for a smaller plant with a few nice fat buds) or let them veg, top again, LST some more and veg longer to get more bud sites.

I'm also a CFL closet grower, been at it since the start of this year for the same reasons as yourself (life's too short to smoke bad weed!) and have learned alot/enjoyed the experience.

My advice would be to follow your instincts, since everything is going good for you at the moment, look at how it progresses and you'll learn much about how different strains take to your situation. This first grow is a learning exercise with the bonus of some bud at the end :)

I would take cuttings from whichever plant is the strongest looking at present, delaying flowering for a week-ten days to let it recover, maybe also take from the second strongest. I personally never continue a genetic that looks weak.

ok....so im down to two plants. killed the little stunt jock because he was a he, and my big baby NL in the blue pot turned male too(FUCK). i really liked that plant so im gonna collect some pollen and pollenate a couple lower branches. took it out of grow room and stuck it outside. i figure being my first grow im not going to have a great harvest so i might as well make the most of it. the other jock, Gina, is blooming quickly but the NL is catching up. later.....

Looking good KillerRedd. I got 2 white russians that turn 18 days old today and one stunted white russian I transplanted to soil from a failed bubbleponic grow. I'll post some pictures in a few days. The two 18 day old plants are looking good. They just started to smell up my grow closet. Damn I can't wait till harvest time. I noticed from your icon your a TEXAN footbal fan. I'm an ol' east Texas boy myself also doing my first grow. Happy growing! Peace.

I also grow with CFL's and Floro tubes. I have 4 Floro tubes I picked up from Walmart that emit red and blue spectrums with phosorous emiting spectrum made for growing plants. I also have 4 daylight floro tubes. Then I have 16 CFL's that = (equal) 150 wats each. They put around 2600 lumens a piece (CFL'S). The day light floro tubes put out 1200 lumens (each) and the grow lights put out 800(each). That equals out to 49600 lumens in 4x8x6 closet. I also grow with bubble-ponics. I have not had any trouble with my systems. I made them my self. A rubber maid container($5.00),I use a 35 gallon tub, cut 3 to 4 holes in the lid.( Make sure the holes fit the pots you will use. Go to walmart and by a dual valve aquarium air pump($12.00). by 2 air stones $3.00 a piece. Then buy the hose that is in the same isle($2.00), it a clear smalll one, get the biggest one because it is more to work with. You cut the hose in half and attach them to the air stone and pump and place them at the bottom of the container. more bubbles the better the results have been. You will also have to buy some bags of stone to be your medium(3.00 each bag). You will only need 4 bags per hole set up. I germ the seeds in a peat moss pellet. When they sprout good strong roots I take the peat moss pelllet and place them at the bottom of a plastic cup. Make sure your cup has as many holes in it as possible. I use a hole puncher to achieve this. The holes realy need to focus on the bottom of the cup so the roots can go into the water when they grow. I then take a 6 inch pot with a netting at the bottom and put a light layer of stone down. Then I place the cup on top of the light layer of stone and fill the pot up 3/4 the way with stone. I then take the pot and place it into the system. You have to make sure the bottom of the pot touches the water and the bubbles are nice and strong and hitting the root areas. The plant will grow so fast compared to soil. I change the water in my system once a month and add nutes only when I go into flowering. 5-15-5 and super thrive. I dont use full strength only half the recommended use. My babies are extremly healthy and glisen in the sun like platinum. I have 5 colas growing on one baby! I also have a baby that I cloned durring flowering that came out 10 times as bushy than the mother was. I have grown in soil before and have had better results with hyroponics. Contray to what people say, it is very easy! The stem at the bottom of the plants are about 3" in round. They look like baby trees. Legendary if you have any questions about bubble-ponics just ask I am not the best but I do know a lot. You should give it an other try but tweek it up a little by some more air pumps and air stones. Don't get disapointed the plants can feel your sorrow :) LOL. I have had people say I dont have enough light, but the plants end prouduct has knocked vetran tokers on thier ass. I will post some pics tommorow. Like it was said above, thier is no better feeling then embelshing in your hard work at the end of it all. I feel a connection between me and the Plants. Happy trails everyone and keep doing what your doing.

Here are my 2 white russian ladies at 18 days old. I used Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil with their liquid fertilizer. I topped them right after I took this picture and(4 days later) they are getting very bushy. I will put them into 12/12 in about 10 days or so.This is my first grow by the way. I had a failed bubbleponic grow so I salvaged it by going the way of soil. By the way avier101, I appreciate the kind words of encouragement and I will give the bubbleponic setup another try. I also got a CFL question for you. Will the soft white CFL bulbs work good for flowering? Any and all advice welcome. Happy Growing everybody. Peace.

I was nub grower up untill a few months ago. I still got alot to learn but let me help you out with what I did being a nub and the results I have with what I have discovered.

1. Seed bank Well I us Niravan I live inm the U.S. I got my order shiped stealth and it I got it from Amseterdamn in 5 days 7 in you count the weekend.

2. I use soil I started with scotts and then repotted with MG African violet soil I also used the mostiure control MG.

3. For Nuts I used Shultz 10-15-10 for veg. For flower I use MG Big Bloom 15-30-15

4. I have 1 48" shop light fixture that contains 4 48" 6500K 3200 Lumms 75watts each I have 4 Y splits with 3 43 watt 2700k 1500 Lumms 3 26 watt 2700K 1500 Lumms and 1 150 Watt 2700K 12000 Lumm. All watts are true wattage all can bought at H.D. or Lowwes sometimes found in the outside lighting sections.

5. I completely lined the inside on my closet with mylar camping blankets from walmart 1.99$ each it took 2.

6. Sorry My CO2 comes from Polar plain carbanated water. I put in a spray bottle with a mist setting and about an hour b4 my timers go to dark I spary them down not heavy so the plants are soaked but slightly dew droped.

And here is my Nirvana White castle and white widow they will be 8 weeks flowering on 9/20/10.

Enjoy.
