Sounds like a great way to reuse all my old coffee cans and save alot of room in the veg room. Thanks for the inspiration

measure how much water is in your container, use cups and measure by the cup, each cup equals 8 oz. After determining your volume capacity, calculate how much nutes you would use for how much water. The quantity all depends on what nutes you are using.
im using the biggest coffee can avail, i believe it maybe 3 qts, not too sure...im not able to pour a whole gal in it thats for sure, for the size pot im using tho im only able to fill the res up to 1 qt, theres really no room for nutes, im in fear of nute burn, i used a medicine dropper to only drop .1ML of micro and .2ml of bloom...not thr required dosage...now I think i have nute burn seeing how my leaves curled up on the edges as if they were "praying", i read this could be a mag deficiency, but general hydro flora series i thought eliminated the use for any mag...? my water is phed to 5.5-6 using tap water, it shot up up so great til nutes introduced and now its almost stunted..

thats awesome, I have visions of rows of coffee cans and tubing hahahaha. Im very interested in DWC containers and this would be great for some vegging.
I also realize I need more air pumps.....

I wonder if the plants will prefer Maxwell House or Folgers.....

Pre mix your nutes in a gallon milk container, then fill your can with the premixed nutes.

my coffee can holds approx 3 liters of water. 3/4 of a gallon. I have been forced to work measurements as low as 1 liter. Score yourself a couple of hypodermic needles (without the needle). Mine are graduated up to 1mL.

just some questions to the experienced growers, im doing aquarium pump air stone method to grow iced grapefruit....any of you use nutes in your coffee can grows? what nutes/ratio? how much water is in your can? ph levels?
I use "X Nutrients" which is a 3 part base nutrient (Grow,Micro,Bloom) I use Distilled Water!!!!!

I mix all my nutes in a 1 gallon container cause 1 gallon is enough for all 3 coffee containers.

My PPMs right now are at 800-850, pH 5.8, Temps 68F

I am crossing all these strains for beans....

@massah I prefer Dunkin Donuts Coffee, I got these Folgers from work.

Peace

Im also a DD addict. So you use 1/3 a gallon in each coffee can, or is that just to top em up?

OK, nutha dumb Q then. Where is your water line compared to the bottom of the basket you use. Just at the bottom?, an inch low? thats the only thing that confuses me, well and how much air do you really need?
Im a soil guy, wanting to play around with DWC to see where it takes me.

awesome! thank you all for the replies! i have an autojack seed that just rooted so ill be dropping her in soon, this is my first grow, literally....ive read so much lol and im still continuing to read. I will mix nutes in a gallon jug and top off my res with that, now 1 more question....should the nutes be started asap? like before the root even reaches water or wait about 3,4 weeks then start nutes?? ive been adjusting the PH level after nutes have been added, this is correct way? or PH before nutes?

i too would like to know, right now my water level is just at the base of the cup...or if it does cross about the base, u could put pebbles or hydroton to raise your medium a bit

I like to have my water hit about half way up the netpot so that the hydroton stays a little wet at the bottom. Usually the water line is about an inch above the bottom of the net pot.

A small 10-20 Gallon aquarium pump is all you need, with an airstone. The more surface area you have on your airstone means more bubbles :)

That's awesome. Wish I hadn't lost my airpump. You could pipe them together and use a control bucket to keep the m full. Next up undercurrent coffee cans

After you mix all your nutes pH it to 5.8pH. I dont add nutes till I see a root popping out the netpot.

I am a soil grower who is learning DWC too. I still have lots to learn but I like it a lot. Its a blast and you are in full control of feeding.

Now your talking my friend, that would be sick! I would love to see it and sure it would be effective!

Yeah dude most definitely! Not real sure where to start, but I'll put together a list and run it by you. DWC is SSSSSOOOOOO much easier than soil IMO. Gives you much faster results......I definitely underfeed with soil. With DWC, even without an EC meter, they always looked on point. Not to mention pH is WAAAAAYY easier to control. √
