Comcast Copyright Infringment

So I'm having a pretty good day. Went down to my local grow shop and pick up a Euphorbia(Ghost) and a different type of Aloe plant I'd never seen before. For those of you who dont know what a Euphorbia is, its a huge cactus and I happened to get a white one known as a ghost. Pretty cool right? So I get home, load up the bong, take a few rips and remember I have to check my mail! So i go downstairs, bullshit junk mail after random ad and then a letter from Comcast. I figured it was another bill or something but that seemed ridiculous considering I JUST paid it online yesterday. So I open it u. Its a letter stating that I have violated my usage agreements by using Bittorrent to download Fast Five...Ok wtf? Since when do they do this, and is this the only thing of mine they are looking at? Talk about blowing my fucking high. Has anyone had this trouble? And please tell me someone here could tell me a trick or 2 to keep my internet usage under wraps...I still am in disbelief, fucking Comcast, this never would have happened with Verizon -.-

Their checking out everything you do on the internet and everything you watch on T.V. their listening to your phone calls and reading your text, their watching you through cameras and with satilites at the park on the street and in the store, they may even be using your computer or T.V. to watch or listen to you. Welcome to the NWO

If you use TPB you can countersue by determining that they had to violate the TOS to get your IP connected to the content assuming you were smart enough to at least require encryption.

Fuck!! That really suck ass! I bet they got everyone on every grow forum and related sites monitored 24/7. Just checking what sites you visit, what you do! Thats justs fucking crazy! they are probably gonna take you to court for infringement deal. Thats why everyone should becareful with what we choose to download.

And beardo might be correct, I watched rhis show on discovery channel, this big black dude was the host. It was about how we are all being constantly watched by the gov through a great many electronic devices. He showed you how to remain out of sight, but I was too high to remember what he did lol!

you guys are blowing this way out of proportion. comcast wrote the letter at the request of someone else who caught you. the record and movie companies pay snitches to troll TPB and get info from everyone connected to certain torrents. comcast didnt monitor you. ignore the letter and chill for a while. find a different way to dl movies like a private tracker (way better) or those forums that link you to file share websites where you can dl a portion of the movie from a few different sites.

yeah thats a scam. its a way for the companies to make more moeny off their shitty movie by suing people than they would if there were no pirating in the world.

Socata hit it on the nose, get peerguardian or peer blocker. These will take care of your torrenting issues. I've received the same "bla bla your downloading copyrighted material"

Once you get PB or PG, you will see just how many bad anti P2P organizations your actually connecting too. Also government Ip's, and adware. These programs will even block HTTP adware banners for you.

In fact as I think about it.....how are people still downloading torrents without using one of these programs?

OK

So they take your packets, and identify that you are uploading a torrent. They go an download the torrent themselves (the company owning the movie) then they find a bunch of IP addresses uploading the file(s), then they find out who owns the IP address (Comcast/cox/verizon/etc.) then they contact them, and the ISP(internet service provider) fearing legal action IF THEY DONT TAKE ACTION.... shut down your internet temporarily and they say you shouldn't do it again...

To your ISP..... Say that..........You are on an un protected wifi connection & don't know/don't want to make a password.

In the mean time, stay away from JUST released block buster titles... like Fast 5.... or TRON... when they first hit the torrent sites... months afterwords it can still be risky

Get a client like TOR proxy, or Peerblock... Personally my computer had slight issues with Peerblock but many people find it to work very well.

my pc had issues with peer guardian , although it worked on my old pc. peer block works well on this one.

TOR says not to use in conjunction with bit torrent clients. But seems to work for me.

i had my internet shut off once because i was caught downloading. i had to call the cable company and tell them it was my "son". i don't have kids but it worked!

i agree that the phone companies keep your information more private. i liked having dsl but my bf likes cable and he pays the bill

can they only write you a letter if you have internet like comcast?
Cause I've had dsl for a little bit now and im surprised verizon hasn't sent out anything with all the shit I download.I think im gonna get that peerblocker just in case.It would suck if they actually went through with the legal process and you were fined 250k

you should have PB or PG in general for daily internet use. make sure to block HTTP. and update your lists.

and ya, even if your on DSL they will get you, I used to get letters back in the day using at&t dsl and yahoo dsl
