can they only write you a letter if you have internet like comcast?
Cause I've had dsl for a little bit now and im surprised verizon hasn't sent out anything with all the shit I download.I think im gonna get that peerblocker just in case.It would suck if they actually went through with the legal process and you were fined 250k

I hear Verizon is one of the ISP's that has been telling the lawyers to FUCK OFF... so your probably better off with Verizon... Comcrap and Cox will follow orders...

dont know if thats still true but it was a few years ago

I don't even know what to say. That's scary as shit that they would do that, I have never had any issues. I also don't download movies though ever since the torrent sites all got in trouble. What's the problem, just wait till it comes out and rent it from the redbox for a dollar? Anyways, it's obvious that yeah the people putting those torrents up are the the ones responsible, or at least they are downloading the content like mentioned. Either way it sounds like they break some kind of law to get that information. If my internet server provider sent me a letter like that I would just tell them to suck my balls. Not a very good way to keep customers IMO, I wouldn't continue to use their services after that bullshit.

It's your upload speed they watch. I got a letter from mine a long while back when I downloaded Diablo. I researched it, and they're watching your bandwidth usage. Limit your upload speed when downloading torrents and you should do ok.
So I'm having a pretty good day. Went down to my local grow shop and pick up a Euphorbia(Ghost) and a different type of Aloe plant I'd never seen before. For those of you who dont know what a Euphorbia is, its a huge cactus and I happened to get a white one known as a ghost. Pretty cool right? So I get home, load up the bong, take a few rips and remember I have to check my mail! So i go downstairs, bullshit junk mail after random ad and then a letter from Comcast. I figured it was another bill or something but that seemed ridiculous considering I JUST paid it online yesterday. So I open it u. Its a letter stating that I have violated my usage agreements by using Bittorrent to download Fast Five...Ok wtf? Since when do they do this, and is this the only thing of mine they are looking at? Talk about blowing my fucking high. Has anyone had this trouble? And please tell me someone here could tell me a trick or 2 to keep my internet usage under wraps...I still am in disbelief, fucking Comcast, this never would have happened with Verizon -.-

I get that e-mail once or twice a month....they never do anything about it... i heard that your IP goes on a blank lawsuit and if comcast ever releases your info you will then be included in said lawsuit. It is basically Comcast saying "don't do this, your bringing the heat down"

Fuck this shit, I'm D/L'ing movies right now via comcast. That sucks man, I can't believe they'd invade your privacy so hardcore just to see if you're... doing what everyone does... wait, weed? lolol.

Seriously though, that's no good =[ I feel for you.

Using a torrent is just asking to get caught especially if you're sharing.

Yes its common practice they are sent to you via comcast because of your MAC address in your PC and Modem IP address was caught sharing or downloading illegal copyrighted content. Comcast or any ISP gets contacted by the owners of the material to contact you to warn you, next one might be a knock at the door. Sony is a big one that contacts ISP all the time, I use to work for a major cable company as a High Speed Data engineer, so I got the complaints from corporate office.

Wise up and get off torrents or any peer to peer sharing programs they are just waiting for you to get caught. If your smart enough there are ways around getting caught using torrents but sounds like you don't use them.

I figured most of that was just hype due to the fact that almost everyone I know is half addicted to torrents, and have never even gotten a letter like that. I'll take your advice and get some legit IP blocking/hiding though. Can't be too safe, but I always have trouble with actual IP Masking, rather than just an online proxy (even though a webproxy is irrelevant here

lol. yea, torrents are super unsafe... not to mention slow as hell... what you all need, you probably never heard of... NZBs... get a Usenet account, goto something like nzbs.org, download all you want, encrypted, at max speed, if your really pimp like me you setup the program sabnzbd to handle all your nzbs, and a program called Sickbeard to automatically download episodes of tv series you subscribe too...

Just don't download more than 250gb a month if you have comcast, you will get a call, 250 is the max you can download a month... they called me once, but couldn't tell what i was downloading because a good usenet account has mega super awesome encryption...

Buzz Lightyear: TO XFINITY AND BEYOND!!!!! (or 250gb's, whatever comes first). lol
:peace:

Good info, shit rollitup is more than a grow site. lol. I download less than that since I have to keep this HD semi-clean, due to this not "technically" being my pc. But I do seed constantly so I'll put this info to good use. Much appreciated.

You earned your internetz on that for sure.

Also: Not to hijack or anything, but can you/anyone suggest a good deal on an external hd?

They got me for downloading avatar when i first came out. Lesson I leanred, DO NOT under any circumstances download the torrent with the most seeds when a movie just comes out. Those seeds are the FBI And just make it look appealing so that youll download it and they can fuck you.

They didn't charge me, they just gave me the letter and made me delete my sharing software and any shared material...
