Completely addicted to marijuana

Hi, I started using marijuana in my late teens just for the sake of excitement. It was fun using it with the friends. I didn't know that will make me a complete addict. I cannot do without marijuana right now. I became completely addicted and is in a very depressing condition right now. I am planning to undergo a drug addiction treatment. Is there anybody over here who has undergone addiction treatment? How to overcome this addiction? Please give some genuine replies and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I've smoked since I was at least 15. Daily as long as I can get it. Imo you don't need therapy, I hate to do without but I can deal with it if necessary. Not physically addictive like other drugs. Its in your head/habit. Worst I've had for a couple weeks, irritable, headache, sleepless. Thats after not doing without for a long time. Take a break for a while should get easier.

This may not be very helpful, but in my opinion "addiction" is a term that should be used for people who have habits that are so consuming they perform behaviors way out of their norm in order to satisfy those habits. So unless you are sucking dick in filthy public toilets for just one more oh so sweet hit of the kush, you probably don't have an addiction that requires rehab. If your weed use is consuming your life in a negative way, then you have to make a choice for change and do it. Rehab has a 70% failure rate, and its some really nasty shit. Lots of brainwashing and bullshit (used to work in that setting, know a lot about it) and its just really not appropriate for cannabis junkies. And the math doesn't actually reflect that addiction treatment has any value at all, the only time addicts change their behavior is if they make the choice too. There simply aren't any shortcuts. But hey, at least weed is good for your body....

Many people don't understand why or how other people become addicted to drugs. They may mistakenly think that those who use drugs lack moral principles or willpower and that they could stop their drug use simply by choosing to. In reality, drug addiction is a complex disease, and quitting usually takes more than good intentions or a strong will. Drugs change the brain in ways that make quitting hard, even for those who want to.

What else are you using? Do you drink alcohol? Are you on psych meds? Cannabis is a legit anti-depressant, not the other way around, so I think something else is going on here.

I feel the same way when I sustain from smoking, it passes in a few weeks time. There is a root issue that isn't resolved that multiplies the feeling of depression. see a doctor, try an alternative route to happiness

You need to find a healthier addiction to switch to if you want to quit or ease up.
1. Join a gym and work out every day. Every Day.
2. Start jogging and run every day.
3. Buy a decent bike and ride 30 miles a day.

The endorphins from exercise might help you all around.

Remember pot can be dangerous and is often a gateway drug. It killed Blue Boy

I laugh because what stoner druggie is gonna paint their face in UCLA colors? Ha ha. Yeah he had school spirit.

hey I hope you're doing allright. Whatever people say about cannabis, if YOU feel you have a bad habit then stop doing it. It can be hard for the first week or two, then it's easier as your head clears. Life is complicated, sometimes we need help. If you can, talk to people you can trust and get some emotional support. Maybe rehab is the place, I don't know. Getting away from it sometimes means you have to get away from your friends doing it. You have a choice. You need to make the decision, but you need to find something else to do. Make some time to get exercise, and try to look at things from a new angle. You don't need to be extreme about it. Sometimes just taking a walk can do wonders, or start going to the gym if you can. Find something healthful to focus on and you will naturally start to draw to that and forget about the past bummer.
