convince me led is worth it.

LED are fine for small grows, but they are too expensive for commercial, they can't penetrate a plant 6 ft tall.
I agree that they are pricey in the beginning, but when your changing 100 dollar hps bulbs twice a year it evens out pretty quick, especially if you have a 4 or more light grow, As for penetration , I dont see it , IMO i see too much intensity with led, Too close gives bleaching right quick , I usually keep my lights around 18 inches from the tops of the plants, the bottoms dont have any issues , I get better secondaries now with less bottom larf, But i also dont try to grow 6 foot plants either, I grow more 2-3 foot plants to make up for it, and for me it's far more efficient to grow more of smaller, allows me to get an extra harvest each year too.

Like I said man to each there own , I didnt swap every light at once in my main room and did not notice anything negative about the swap, I did notice a lot lower electricity bill from less fans being run all the time , less wattage from lights etc etc.... :) BB

cool, but I use double ended lighting, and even when I used regular hps bulbs, I only changed them once a year, and that was at the recommendation of the manufacturer, and we all know they want to sell more bulbs, so they really can go longer. And ALL my indoor lighting has a UL listing.

I use HID, I can hit a GPW and more (not that it matters) I have the same spectrum output as LED if you brush aside all the hair splitting. The only difference between LED and the HID setup I chose?... £2000. Plus I only need to plug in 4 units instead of 10.

I am amateur photographer at best.

I am open for the Professional Photographer Lukio to show me how those LED buds are that so much better.

No photoshop, no bollox. Real pictures of real buds grown under HID lighting. To this day I have yet to see a single piece of evidence that LED grows stronger Cannabis than HID. Because if the argument truly is its spectrum, then the argument is now obsolete thank to the miracle that is CMH.

I never got into those , I hear they are better then standard hps though,

As for UL listings, I built all my own lights, so I know they are far higher quality then what most would get from a factory light, soldering and reading a wiring schematic isnt hard , And I also get that sense of accomplishment from building them , I was conjured to the dark side by @Growmau5 and his videos on the subject, Dude makes great videos and does the whole community an awesome service :)

@G.V your'e so lost in you're own shite you dont know which way is up. The benefits to led are obviously too complicated for you to fathom.

its your money/electric/gas so you keep throwing it away, Mr "i need to save electric" - you clever sausage. fuckin' hilarious

Dont pretend you know me either

But I am using less electricity Lukio. And the QB setup you suggested several times to me for my grow space was more wattage than I am using with HID. Not to mention the fact I only used my CMH to veg for the first 7 weeks. So in reality I use even less energy annually. A very large part of why I dropped LED as my light choice.

Can you fathom that or are you glued to that cloud of yours?

e2a: and for the record I don't pretend anything, that is your vice. I'm only repeating what you have said in the past. Boy.

Pukio has never even grown with anything but LED. He has like a year of growing under his belt. He talks out of his ass because that is all he knows.
Ironic coming from you... you haven't grown anything at all nor do you contribute anything aside from insults. You're so dillusional. Go hang with Hazey Grapes or Find Shaggy they are more your speed.

As I said in PM, you don't have any real friends and your the laughing stock of this forum. I actually feel bad for you.

I honestly believe that your a good dude...

I dont think it's stronger , I just see more benefits to using them over hps, To each there own though, If hps works for you , who are we to dissuade you from your choice right ?? Thats why I dont understand the argument here, they both have applications where one is better suited then the other ..... Cant we all just get along lol

Believe me I have tried. Big fan of LED, own them myself.

Sadly I just get hounded every time I come to a thread regarding them.

Fully agree on the application being the real decider though. Summertime in the loft with my setup, not a chance in hell. But LED would breeze through it no sweat.

Like you say, applications, each really does do a job.

I fully understand its nothing personal when choosing a grow lamp, just chose what suits the job at hand.

e2a: the bulbs aren't as bad you may think, CMH especially they last very well with little degrading.

this right here where you are STILL going wrong. Fact is it takes less watts of led to produce the same amount of light than your current setup - proving you are still a muppet. thank you very much. im out

Absolute twaddle. As false as you in every sense.

The draw to output of a QB over an entire grow compared to the draw to output of an entire grow with my HID setup is less with the HID FACT. Because of my grow area things are not as simple as just picking up a print out from an LED light site.

The sum's dont end at what the man selling you the lamp tells you lukio, you need to think a little further. Remember I would need 20 QB's not 8.

Well your the smart one. So you tell me. 3.4 meters x 2.4 meters. I veg for 7-9 weeks under 660w of CMH, then flower for 9-10 weeks under 2660w of combined HPS de and CMH. Can a QB setup capeable of covering this space lower my annual consumption and give me more buds with more resin?.. Not to mention the £3500 price tag?

I never dabbled with those either, always seemed like a hella expensive cfl to me, I stayed die hard hps when they started showing up in the hydro shops around here, 700 bucks for a light seemed expensive as shit to me, i never knew anyone personally who ran one so i didnt have any basis to compare them. Nice plants up top BTW , sog looks nice, I'm running one in my 2x2 genetics testing tent, last harvest was nl and i pulled just over 10 oz's from 16 plants under 212 watts of vero 29 . I think the avg was 17 grams per plant if i remember right ....

defoliate? If your light had better penetration, you wouldn't be hacking your girls up. BTW, growing leaves, means growing more bud, not the opposite
Yeah thats another topic that see's much debate , just like this topic and flushing( which i do not do either), Defoliating my plants is the norm and i see better results doing it, an hps or even the sun would not get to the bottoms of those plants , ever look into a big bush outside and notice the middle of it does not have leaves ? if even the sun cant get into it neither will ANY man made light system ...... and sog focuses on the tops of the plants anyways , not the bottoms ...

Really should consider a test grow. I can always understand scepticism, but they really are great light units for growing Cannabis.

I dont believe everything is measurable with growing canna, there is a little magic to it. And the CMH has that spark. Just my opinion though.
