cool tubes and fluorescents?

I was wondering if anyone has ever used a compact fluorescent in a home made cool tube. I'm coming towards the end of my first grow and I want to create a new grow room. At the moment I have a 4x4x6 with 8 compact fluorescents totaling 306watts, but I don't have any sort of reflection on the walls of the room.

Anyways sorry, I'm getting off topic :eyesmoke:

I want to build a smaller, more efficient grow box. I was thinking 2x2x3 with one 200watt cfl and a homemade batwing reflector...possibly with a cool tube. Also will definitely cover entire grow area with mylar, as well as the home made reflector. I know fluroescents don't get that hot. I don't know if it would be a waste to put a fluro in a cool tube or not. I would imagine you could have the light (well cool tube) touching the plants and have no worries at all, or do the same thing with vertical tubes?

Just throwing some ideas out there for what I'm looking for, any ideas/suggestions/comments/questions.

I know a 2x2x3 area isn't the biggest, but I am looking to grow small indicas (some kind of lowryder strain most likely). Also, I want to try a DWC setup for my second time around.

I have seen people grow with fluorescents where the plants are touching the bulbs. And if you had a cooltube to go with it you could for sure be very close if not touching them.

Just sounds like a waste of time and resources. Why buy a cool tube and lose light to cool a cfl? As previously mentioned you can put cfls nearly on top of the plants, I would say that the loss through refraction from the glass would outweigh any benefit from proximity to plants. Spend your money on a fan and use where needed
