Crop #3: Deadhead OG, PurpleBerry BX, Chem 40G, Blue Cheese, and Qrazy Train

Hello all,

I have a Week 2 update.

I only took a few photos before the lights come on,
and the HPS makes distinguishing one plant from another
difficult, but things really are doing very well.

I did not move fast enough when some gnats showed up
and had a fair little mess when I acted. I tried to get the
right nematodes, but failed when I looked locally (I will
try again).

So I added 2 ml 35% H2O2 per gallon to my next feed and
then dressed my plants with food grade diatomaceous earth.
Things are already looking much better. The last few stragglers
and I am done with them.

Lights off, the day before yesterday:

Lights on, today:

Check out the crazy structure on this Blue Cheese in the corner:

I supercropped it because it was getting too far ahead of the rest of the canopy.

Note:I took growth from the plants of my last crops SOG high enough to have
gotten those long branches coming up from below. This time, I decided to test
the no-defoliation way for this grow.

....I am growing such a fun bag of breeds that I will be happy for whatever I get.

Here is a very lovely Chem 4 OG:
Chem4OG.jpg

I have been banging on the Deadhead OGs, supercropping them,
but they are still among the tallest:

The small amount of extra Veg time is still giving the Hawaiian Snow
a strong advantage. Here is the HS, after lights out, and lights on.

Note that this plant has two tops, but I bent them over and the result
looks a lot like an 8-topper with two extra buds which are the tops
that have grown back to join the new canopy:

Here is a great Purpleberry BX, followed by a closeup:

Last word for now....here is a shot a Somango bud....not the largest
that I have, but a pretty picture before the grinder. Also the mothers
are recovering from a hard trim where I culled weaker growth. They
will have two months to recover.

Take care all,

Looking very nice Java! Never even knew you were running HS until now, just popped a bunch as well. The Chem4 is what I`ve been after and yours looks awesome brother. Have to say the PB and the Somango look damn tasty, great all round mate,

Thanks KC.

The diatoms seem to be working.

I still find a gnat or two or three, but I will wait a week
to see if they disappear completely.

I am thinking about building nine RDWC buckets for my
Mothers Crop. I would want to use a common controller
and reservoir. It is just an idea right now. I will need to
source the pumps and connectors.

Take care,

JD

Kinds words JN.

I appreciate your stopping in.

We are in the long period of this Crop, but things should
pick up in a month or so.

The PurpleBerrys are already amazing looking......with the
purple close to black under the HPS bulb.

Tomorrow marks the end of week three since the flip.
I will post some photos, but will also try to take the plants
out for some natural light photos.

I am going to be top-dressing them with some EWCs as well,
and so will try to take the photos when I am doing this.

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

Well, week 4 from the flip was yesterday. I will post photos soon.

I have to admit that I am learning about how to deal with an infestation
for Crop. My gnat problem exploded. I used the vacuum to pick them
up, but noticed that they kept coming back.

Moving the blocks to top-dress them showed the problem.
Wow...tons of gnats. I grow mushrooms, and am used to have a
few around, but I was clearly breeding the bastards.

My first action was diatomaceous earth. I watched as the gnats
walked all over the stuff. I held onto hope that it would take a
few days to have an effect. No Joy.

My second action was to buy some Go-Gnats.

"Go-Gnats" must have sounded like a Football cheer, or some such
to the beasties, for all that it made them stop what they are doing.

I liked the G-G actually, as it is cedar oil and is non toxic...but my
problem seems to have grown beyond its abilities.

I ordered some nematodes, but figure that I had better wait a few
days, for the Go-Gnats to dissipate, before I use them.

The upshot is that I look at my week 2 photos and think that
the grow has been stunted at tad. From the few raggedly leaves
that got sucked into the vacuum (Fuck! ;0), to those smeared with
a touch of diatomaceous earth, to the slight burn that the G-G
gave to the leaves of a few plants, I am sure that this crop has suffered.

No worries. I will bounce back, and will be smoking some OGs in
about 6-8 weeks.

Take care,

JD

I am interested to see how the dead head og turns out. If its really mixed with that Skunk VA cut then it should be some fire!

I have a buddy who grew out that chem og but he didnt get much of the chem side as he wanted

I just checked my seeds, as I am getting some new ones
from Attitude tonight, and I found that I have an OG #18
from Reserva Privada! Yeah!

I was about to buy a couple.

I am getting Kosher and Skywalker Kush, Headband, LA
Confidential, Chemdog, Grinspoon, Durban Poison, Blue Dream.

What was funny is that my pile of freebies has gotten big.

Anyone want to comment on any of these:

G13 Labs White Lavender
Barney's Farm Morning Glory
Green House Seeds Arjan Haze #1
Green House Seeds Lemon Haze
Barney's Farm G13 Haze
Nirvana Seeds Snow White
Cannaventure's Moms Mix
Paradise Seeds Nebula
Green House Seeds White Widow
G13 Labs Cheese
CH9 Seeds Vintage 2006
CH9 Jack
Dinafem Blue Hash

I think that I read where CH9 seeds hermed out of someone....

Take care,

JD

I am stoked about the R.P. Seeds that I got. I know that I will love them.

I am only worried about how I will maintain my mothers.
I am sure that I cannot support more than 16 breeds or so. :0)

I`ll start with  ...

Next, wow man, nice choices. I thought I was a seed freak, :p. You will love everything in your top list, excellent strains there. Seen/heard nothing but good things on the Kosher, love the Skywalker and the HB, and the Purple Wreck I`ll love to watch ... always wanted to run it. I would suggest breaking your moms into flower time intervals, I`ve had good success that way. I.E. Do 3-4, 8-weekers, 2-3, 9-10-weekers, and maybe 2 Sativas that will run you into 11 and 12 weeks. Give you diversity in your harvest, but if you schedule your cuts right, you should be doing minimal work on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Keep it going mate, love your thread,

KC :weed:

What a great reply. I will need to chew thoroughly. :0)

I am now bumping the Purple Wreck and Kosher into the next seed based crop.

It will join the OG Kush, LA Con, and the Sensi lineup....smash, smash.....SA-MASH! ;0)

I am happy to report that the ladies are all greened up nicely.
I used top dressings, EWC on most and some FFOF+BloodMeal on the rest.

I am half way through a nematode addition for my gnat problem.

I may use some spray, one time, to control the adults. The vacuum was fun
but it did not keep up.

I am switching back to FFOF from the Kelloggs Patio Plus for the next grow too.

Take care,

JD

I stopped using FFOF. I'm now using Roots Organic Original in my indoor grows. Had way to many problems with the FFOF the last few times.

That stuff looks very nice. It is quite expensive. ....I will likely need about five
of the big bags for my mothers crop, and more if I SOG again.

I know that I am not using Patio Plus for my next grow.

I will be adding nematodes as part of starting the pots.

I had zero issues with FFOF, and will fall back to it, but will look
for a better price for the Root Organic stuff too.

Thanks for stopping in, and taking the time to comment.

Have you used the FFOF since they changed it in like the last 4 months or so. I use to swear by FFOF loved that shit for years. Not anymore. My outdoor I plan on using some Organic soil fro Raley's. It's a 2 cu ft bag for $5.99. Actually good soil too.

Good find. I am thinking that there might be a good local soil for me too.

I will keep my eyes open.

Thanks!

I appreciate the good word Zibra.

P.S. I am loving your logs. Great work. You shoot for much
better env control than I do.
