i know the difference is 1812 means 18 Die count in series and 12 in parallel, and 1212 means 12 in series and 12 in parallel; but what difference do they make in the light quality?

And any one has any info about the spectral content (% of total PAR) for various COBs?

zero difference in light quality, they use the same spectra

1812 is a 50V chip and ever so slightly more efficient at a given wattage

its a strange chip. 1818 is better in the 50V range. 1212 is better in the budget range

CobKits thanks a lot.

I've been to your website several times and sent an email, I am still in the process of finding the suitable lights for my 10X10 grow area and was wondering if you are open to the idea of customizing the lights, I would have bought the parts and did them but I am sure it won't be easy for a first timer...
