4 x qb96 @160w each & 2 HLG 320w drivers = 640w 4x4 space is 40w sq/ft

veg 3ft above canopy & flower 2ft

Really anxious to test those strips vs a 1k de :)

Thanks for the link Ill take a look. What would you pick for UV addition?

Is it me or...

I just find on a webpage:
"Plants and especially cannabis need most lighting during the flowering stage, so we`ll be using that as an estimate of how much area needs to be covered. A standard LED grow light must use more than 32 watts per square foot of grow space, but for optimum results it should be over 50 watts, up to 80 watts. "

According to this claim, I should put from 1475 to 2380 watts of led over a 29.5 sq ft area... Hum What? Using 16 strips and 2x 480 watts driver, I'll be at just over 32,5 w / sq ft... Is that enough? They don't even talk about PPFD/ umol and so on... Tempting to trigger "BS article" but well...

@Rocket Soul , do you think I'll be able to achieve the same result or better than my hps de 1k? :D On another article, they mention that LED is 38% more efficient than HPS
What is their definition of a standard growlight? I dont haave the article so haard to say any but this was once true but 30-35 works fine now, 40w per foot is damn right hard to grow with asss it's so intense it will cause deficiencies easily. You can allways come back and upgrade.

Edit: as for 40w per foot qb96 versus 30w strips: the hanging height matters quite a bit, along with qb96 on 160w has a loot less efficiency than f-strips at nominal, which can be pushed down close to the cannopy.

I used teknik's ies file on the EB Gen3 slim line 2700K 90 CRI, ran up a 4x4 plan, maybe a bit of overkill, but sometimes im all about shits and giggles, these are 2fters

The ppfd in this example, is it 400-700 over includes far red? I feel 90cris grow well on lower ppfd aswell.
Edit also what height? Any news on 24V solstrip V2? Hoping to be able to set up some uv for july august

H-Influx strips are in stock now too. They have higher efficiency and better diodes (LM-301B) than F-strips. F-strips are great, but I'm gonna try the H's unless someone talks me out of it. (15) 2' strips running at 1.1 amps each, 800 total watts (HLG-320H and HLG-480H) should put out 861 PPFD over the primary 3'x9' area of (3) 3'x'3 drip trays, 645 at the edges (4'x'9' calculation). I could run them at 960 watts for 1020 and 785 PPFD, but I don't think that will be necessary.

And no, I didn't use my faulty "Infinite PPFD Equation" for these calculations. :lol:

I'm planning to go all 3000K as it's been working well for me, but I'm open to suggestions on color spectrum.

Try to count how many diodes you get per $, it wouldn't surprise me if you get 60-75% more diodes from f-strips which i would prefer as this would make the specs very similar, but with the added benefit of running your diodes softer.

I counted the diodes in the pictures on the spec sheets. H L09 has 128 diodes, F L09 has 144. So you would go with the F's huh? They are cheaper. I guess you just talked me out of it.

So the higher quality diodes and metal versus plastic PCB on the H-Influx don't outweigh the extra diodes?

I was just looking at the Solskin SSK-3560BR-V2 Boundary Rider strips from Cutter. Wow, those look nice. They run at 32 and 48v, so all my HLG-48B drivers will work. They're expensive though, what do you think about those?

Metalpcb is quite nice might be worth it, I cant really say about the price points but if i could run the 2 f-strip diodes instead of 1 hinflux for the same price that something id jump on.

Those Cutter strips are only 24mm wide and almost $40/each + shipping. I could put two in the middle of each heatsink, flanked by a pair of F-strips. That would give me the far red thing, and a blend of 80 and 90 CRI. I'll check availability on the Cutters.

I'm getting great quality with the $5 Samsung strips alone, so I'm sure F-strips by themselves would be excellent. The Cutters might take it up a notch, though.

[edit] The Cutters can't be added to cart, so you're right, not in stock. I'll just order the F-strips.

Hi Rocket, we have tended to standardise all our plans on a 18 inch height to canopy. This plan is only using the EB strips you gave teknik no additional red boards. I agree, I think this is overkill, 800PPFD with these would have been more than adequate. Yes the 24V BR-V2 we expect in the next 10 days, we have rev'd this so that there will be only 10 monos on the centre, so we plan to have all 3 channels at 24V(centre channel assumed to be reds in this) should make driver solution much simpler

Yes, I'm pretty sure he just said the strips I'm interested in have been revised to only 10 mono red diodes in the center channel, and all 3 channels operating at 24V. HLG-48B drivers are good from 24-48V, so that would still work for me.

I think there will be 2 versions, 48 and 24V. Im not sure, ill leave it to welight.

we going to a standard 24V version, no 48 volt, it makes more sense, as driver selection will be simpler as will mesh tek bluetooth control. The current design is using Cree's best eff chip, the 2835 at 224 LPW

Sounds good, what is the operating current range for those strips?

I have to do more homework on the drivers. I don't know if HLG-48B has to be dimmed all the way down to run strips at 24V, or if the constant current automatically adjusts to 24V. It may end up that, with the drivers I've already got, it will be easier to just go with all Samsung F-strips.
