DIY with Quantum Boards

I can run 3 boards in series off a hlg320 2800 right? I just have to solder everything instead of the wagos right?
Docs say 1600mA max per board.
Also I don't think that driver has enough forward voltage to run 3 in series. 114v max and the board is about 110v. I'm considering running 3 in parallel for 933mA per board about 100w each to cover a 2x4.

You can bring it close but in flower i leave it between 15-18" and don't need to bring in close. Bleaching may occur. There is no reason to bring in that close during flower - they are very efficient at normal distances.

Because of better user control over power and light - You DO NOT have to worry about over saturation and harsh light conditions. Keeping your plants STRESS FREE is the key to these panels.

I do COBS too but for DIY thes QBs are hard to beat ... With every panel you add ( you add around 150w ) so you could upgrade in steps .

Example :
1 board ( 100-150w )
2 board ( 200-300w )
3 board ( 300w + )
4 board ( 300 + ) ... Even up to 400 passively-
Or if you plan it right 150 x 4 .... (600) !!!!!

It is super easy to shed the " HID Bulb " bullshit.

If i had the space - i would rock a 6 pack
MEGATRON STYLE !!!!
Unfortunately id have to have them up to 6" close at some point to make this grow work and I'd really love too. Maybe running more boards at lower watts would help but i rather not have to buy more than two boards and run around 200-250w if possible.

You can always use a dimmer and run with no optics. For most of the grow you won't even be at 6" anyway.

Looks like I found the right thread....

I believe 2 QB can be series on an HLG-320H C1400 for 320+ watts. If I decide to double my boards for better coverage, can I hook up 2 sets in parallel with each board pulling 700mA? If I hook up 3 boards with 2 in series and 1 parallel will that also be 700mA?

I'm going to try 4 QB with 2 HLG320H C1400 for 640+ watts over a 4x4. If the spread isn't what I want then I may add 2 or 4 more boards.

My current thought is 4 QB would work well for a..
36inchx46inch or
41x41 or
23x72

6 QB might be better using a 46x54 spread
8 QB has too many configs to list, but would have a solid spread over 48x48 for sure.

Of course this is theory until I get a QB in my hands with a meter at about 18".

You can run 2 strings of 2 boards on the HLG 320H-1400 sure. I don't recommend running 3 boards on that driver though. Get the 2800 and run all 3 in parallel if you want 3 boards on a 320H driver.

Ryante55 on that driver you can only run parallel as the voltage only runs one board if you want to run series look at the 1050ma for 3

If there was a complete pre-built kit available in different wattages I'd be all over these, I'm not confident enough for DIY.

My 90 watt kits came with everything you need to assemble a complete light, including a driver that can be dimmed up to 50% (down to 45 watts). Find out what day they will be back in stock and order at 9:05 am

Week 4 of flower under these QBs...View attachment 3898447
This is my 4th run with this strain, never say this much frost this early in flower. I'm seeing trichs under the fan leaves and on the petioles. Healthy from top to bottom under these QBs.View attachment 3898446

Could you tell me a few details about your grow, please? I have a couple of QBs I'm installing in a 2.75sqft x 3ft tall cab... I'm planning on growing micro style with maybe 6-12 plants. This will be my first grow and given my limited vertical height...

I'm wondering how tall that plant is? How tall was it when you flipped to 12/12? And how many watts are you running your QB and how close to the plant?

Should be cracking my seeds in about a month! :D

Just contact @robincnn, he built my 2 board light, I think it's the one on the 1st page, 2 boards, 165w on full and 22w fully dimmed, $300 all in (or there abouts)... connecting the wago connectors is easy, I just posted a pic of how I'd connected it up in this thread and Stephen pointed out it wasn't wired correctly, so I made the adjustment and sent a pic to Robin and he said it looked fine, so I cranked it up! Working fine so far...

So yeah, Robin will build it for you if you're not a DIY guy like me :D

Hey eminiplayer,

I'm working with limited height in a 3x3x4 and I went with the SOG style. Everything is an experiment at this point.

2 boards on a HLG185-C1400A, boards are about 16" away from my tallest plant. I'm running them at 50-60 watts per board right now because I'm waiting on heatsinks. Others are running at low wattages and are getting great results tho. Trying to study the plants to see if they are in need of more light but I suspect they're very happy. All my plants except the one in the pic are slightly CAL/MAG deficient at this point, which to my understanding is a great sign that they are getting a adequate amount of light.

As for the girl in the pic she is my first experiment with flowering a rooted clone. At about 3 inches she showed roots, spent about 3 days under a T5 so I could transplant, and went into the flower room. Right now she is about a foot tall, and about 2 feet away from the panels. I'll be watching but all the plants are doing well at this distance/wattage and everything is on schedule.

Hey mate,

I've got the same driver and 2 boards, but only have 2.75 of floor space, and only 3ft in height... from what I've read running it at 100w will be enough. Given my lack of height, I'm also interested in SOG from clone, would love to see more pics of your grow if you're willing to show them! :D How many plants are you planning for 9
sqft?

I have a 2nd cab that I've decided to take over, same dimensions... but this one I'm planning on having 2 levels, one will be 11.5" height and the other 21.7" in height. The smaller level will be for cloning/veg and the larger will be for weeks 1-5 of flower, which will then be moved to the 36" height chamber for week 6-10... so I can harvest around every 5 weeks.

Just wondering if you think splitting the 2nd cab into a clone/veg and flower phase 1 chamber would work... I want to get 1 QB for each level :D

Good luck with your grow.

emini

Here's a pic of the 2nd cab... the 1st cab with the 2 QB boards is the same, except without the shelf.
