Am I correct to think a 4000k will make a shorter more dense plant? Which would make nicer looking tomato and pepper plants for peoples gardens also.
A shorter internodal length, in theory. YMMV. Many other significant factors. Look at the spectrum comparison threads, there are photos of (e.g.) 3000k vs 5600k veg/flower results.

If you're really limited on vertical space, I'd certainly recommend a 4000k-5000k light and LST or low-scrog to maximize light reception.

In theory, but light intensity is the biggest factor.

Also if you have a fan blowing on your plants you will get stockier tighter plants, at least with peppers and tomatoes. (No need for a cyclone, just a gentle breeze)

Guys you need to stop trying to compare the same kelvin temps across brands, because they're just not the same, I don't care what the charts say.
My QB is 3000K and I would have never thought it would grow such short stocky plants with tight internodes, goes against everything we know right lol......

And my shitizens in 3500K have been growing the plants under them more to my "preference" than my old 3590's did.

Get your heads out of the data sheets and charts every now and then and put some plants under lights to see what they do. It's the only way to truly know what will happen in YOUR garden.

Just my $0.02 :hump:

Using a grey card, I set it in my grow tent under the 3000k Quantums, I can take a custom white balance for raw images on my dslr. Guess what spot on 3000k.

I do not have QB's yet but wondering if I am better to veg 24/0 with MH 7200 K or
HPS at about 3000K. I want short and stocky too.

MMJ Dreaming for bulbs MH is better for veg HPS better for bloom both will do either but if you want short and bushy rather than long and lanky MH veg HPS Bloom and 24h light schedule in veg is ok but many feel a waste of electricity 18/6 is best for veg 12/12 bloom

For HID I love the "Blue" MH for veg and the entire grow. Right now I have 6500K COB's for veg which replaced my 5000K DIY COB light and I like it better and seeing faster growth. However the two girls under the QB have been there from the beginning

Quantum Porn ....
I increased power slightly around 210 @ wall and still temps are managable at 79-81° all day. Slate 1 heatsinks are slightly warm and no issues.

Plants are going into week 2-3 and been loving these panels.
The Deep Red leds were taking down today for pic and dark time.

I introduced some 1 gallon SOG style plants into other tent ... 2 went south... Fuck.
1 went male ( pulled it ) - may take pollen / strong plant. Other one had down syndrome and looked fucked up ... Culled it.

Anyways ... These 2 girls are loving the light.
