Here is my first attempt at actually growing and flowering. I have 2 clone moms, 1 HinduKush / Skunk, and 1 GranDaddyPurp.

I am building the 5x4 flower room that will later have a mother/clone box added along the wall then a fake wall put in place.

I'm going to be flowering under a HPS bulb with 27,500 Lumens. And a Free MH that is 250 watts that I pulled off a barn on our property.

I have a few test plants so this is not technically my first grow, but it will be my first clipping to harvest grow without changing the environment and or fixing things that have gone terribly wrong while i was learning. Now that I can go near them without killing them Going to devote some time to a Journal. I'm going to try to take the time to give as much info as possible.

Size: roughly 5x4 flower room with a 3x4 clone/mother/veg room that is 64-65 inches tall.

Built From: Recycled lumber that was super warped and ugly but I cut out the best sections and It's all going to be behind a fake wall anyhow so it can be hideous for all I care.

Lights: 250 MH on 18/6 and a 250 HPS on 12/12. My clones/moms and current plants were grown under CFL's and Flouro's. Nothing special worth noting.

Planning and Forethought: The floor is raised off the concrete floor by 1 3/4ths so that the cold concrete won't freeze the room; I'm growing in VERY cold room so the heat from my lights will actually be working for me.

Also we heat the room normally unless it's the summer as that’s the only time it's like 70-80 inside. So rather than pump hot air outside, I'm going to mock up a "central heating grill aka louvers" that will supply warm/hot air from the lights through the air filter and into the room warming it :).

So it will be pretty efficient and if these give off as much light as It seems and everyone says. Combined they may heat the room just themselves.

Ventilation: Don't know yet I would like some advice, once I get everything in and will be able to provide exact measurements and pictures maybe the more experienced can help figure out a cheap method of achieving that.

Updates: Will come nearly EVERYDAY, or at least every other so if you've liked my thread so far or want to see the finish please follow along and feel free to put in your input.

Here is a pic of 3 of my Hindu Kush / Skunk clones. I cut them on the 26th and they are in room temp water 68-74ish that has a Little bit of Superthrive in it which says "It's the reason for those freak of nature pumpkins and tomatoes you see on TV that are like 800 pounds!" But It looks mostly like a B vitamin complex which is good to add to keep the stress down so I did.

The top left one wilted as the water level got low for a few hours. Luckily I check on them hourly. I topped it off and she sprung back just before lights out. They are all doing well and are standing up better now that they have figured out where the light comes from.

They are going to stay in the cloner for 2-3 weeks we will see how well they do.
(It's a little dry in the air as I don't have a humid setup for my clones yet.) 60% RH.

Then they will be in Veg for 2 weeks and I will start to LST them. Never done it but it looks simple enough and I found really soft tomato wire which is suppposed to be really soft against the stems.

I'm going to try LST and later SOG or SCROG and see what works best for me.

Ha ha! I got my hands on some bag seed. But not just any bag seed Mexican brown bag seed! LOL! Someone I know had them from like 10 years ago or some such and he kept them from a pretty good bag. I am keeping them well for now I may bud them later for fun. Just thought it was hillarious.

Well first thing is first I feel like shit today.
Got mad wicked heartburn from nachos my GF made last night he he.

But my 250-HPS comes today so I can move my plant I have at roughly 5-6 weeks flowering under it and hopefully get it under some good light for a few weeks before it finishes.

I will get some pics of the light and the setup when I get it together. Probably Tomorrow. My cloner is working like a charm but I just put in a aquarium thermometer in the water so I can check the temp and watch it.

My x3 HK/Skunk clones look good, standing of there own, not wilting, they are naturally LST'ing a tad cause I have them closer to the "Foylon" and another plant directly in the way blocking them from actual MH light, there only getting the bounce back from the foylon but this is causing them to naturally LST witch should be NST ha ha!
Something that has given me an idea, an I will post up a possible diagram to discuss it.

"Bonzai" a plant I have and yes named has gone nuts in just a few days under the MH.
I have been topping her but have let her veg out a bit b4 I put her into 12/12 as soon as it arrives.

Update on the cloner:
The water temp is 20 C and roughly just under 70 F. I added Hydrogen Peroxide 3% at 1 tsp for 1 gallon. And changed out the generic blue air stone for a bubble wand that is giving me much greater coverage and more even spread of bubbles and it's 2 inches longer.

So I was bored today since I was stuck at home with two lazy dogs and nothing to do, although, had there been anything to do the rain would have F&@ked that right up lol.

But my GF just bought a new smoke piece so I can't wait to see it. bongsmilie She said it was too good of a deal to pass up so she bought it for me. All she would say was it was about 1 1 - 1 1/6 ft tall.

Also the 250w HPS came today and I can hook that up now. So I can't complain.

See now I've smoked and forgot what I was talking about :eyesmoke:.

Back to my Boredom that led me to get some shit done.

First off I re-made my bubble cloner and added a better light barrier paint, added a water level indicator, and made the air hose inlet less stressed and bent.
These are not my design I think I saw them on here.

3.) The Air income now goes through the bottom letting less light shine down though the tube.. I will also paint most of this black when it dries (paint only the tube)
4.) Closeup of the Water level indicator, I will VERY LIGHTLY spray 1 light coat of spray paint over so I can still see the water but not let a whole lot of light in Although everyone says algae will grow in the tube but never leaves it...Something does i'm sure.

5.) Grow box starter frame.
6.) Temp Door there will be another flap over it to keep moisture from coming in etc, and the green light is from inside it allows me to look at the roots and plants and all that without disturbing the roots which are light sensitive, and not interrupting there 12/12 sleep cycle cause they don't absorb green light. Also allows me to mosey around the area without breaking my neck he he.

7.) The inside floor, there is extra plywood in the middle Warped upwards in the middle to help any spills drain away and to a drain I will later install.
8.) Picture of "Chance" who almost didn't make it through cloning I also recently said her name was "Phatty" which is incorrect they are both GDP I just got my girls mixed up. She is starting to get some purple hue in her bud along the leaves.

9.) Same pic as 8.) but different light filter.
Anyone guess what week she is into flower? I lost track... Guessing 5-6 myself.

The place I got the 250W HPS on Ebay were out of the one I won, So they sent me one that was worth $100 more! I'm fucking stoked.

I'm getting +7k more lumens on my bulb and it's a agromax or w/e I'll write all the spec tomorrow in detail, but it has 30% extra blue spectrum aditionally to the normal 250W HPS red spectrum, so my bud will not stretch ever I should get GREAT harvest's.

It also has a precut 4" vent flange hole thing lol. But it has a louvered cover over it for now, which is pretty dope sicne the one I actually ordered didn't have that...just 2 louvers in the metal.

It HAD been flowering under 50 W HPS and 3x 23 W 1200 Lumens each 2100k crappy. So it was CFL with a boost, Now watch it go nuts under JUST HPS! See if the old saying GO HPS! you'll never turn back is really all the hub-ub! ~Enjoy~

1.) Here is a pic of "Chance," I called her "phatty" but I was wrong. "Bonzai" is on the right, she will be DWC soon. I can't wait to see her go nuts under this. You can also see the bottom of the 250W HPS (angled it to not blind the camera) It is 10 inches from "Chance" but there is a glass lens and louvers. I can nearly touch the thing with no discomfort so I may slowly be lowering my light as they are hardened by it for the next couple days.

2.) "Chance" main bud. Camera effects from too much light in the room from HPS. Not my doing.
3.) Another shot. the main bud is only a little over the thickness of a lighter. I will actually put one in next time.

4.) The new piece my GF got me. is is about 1ft tall, maybe a hairs more. It is glass on glass with rubber fittings. Works great!
5.) One hit loaded and ready to go.

MORE PICTURES!!!
1.) Chance: You can see I have spent quite a bit of time kneeling and tucking all her leaves in close to the stem that are blocking bud on 1/2 of her, only 1 side. Other side will be a control.
2.) These are wispy little popcorn buds at the bottom of the plant that I have uncovered.
3.) Her TOP and my thumb for reference ( my thumb is actually a little bigger then a lighter.
4.) There are like 2-3 good lighter sized buds that are really light and wispy yet dense, and sticky as all get out. Hoping they will get lots of light since they don't have too much time left under there.

I am also going to start working on caulking the floor/wall cracks where the boards meet. Also got my wiring done so Now I can Use "Great Stuff" to fill in the hole! I also got the Window great stuff as it has added anti mold protection and is a tad denser so that moisture won't come in. This will also fill in any light leaks and I may be able to spray paint black over it when I'm done and it not eat it away.

Ok so I have my grow box all sealed up pretty good. Temp is raising from 65 all day to between 70-75ish. Which is good cause then it should cool down at night.

Anyways the Humidity WAS going down earlier high 60's before I sealed it all up and now it is going up again now low 80's. WAY TOO HUMID.

NOW!
My Problem lies in the fact that The walls in the room AROUND the box have started leaking and so the concrete floor is all wet.
Reason I built the box in the first place. The box is SEALED and on legs so that the floor is 2 inches off the ground so it's not laying in water.
No circulation fans YET (I'm putting a little one in there and I'll see if it does anything for tonight, tomorrow I will put in a bigger one.

For the exhaust I'm going to use x2 120mm PC Fans that are supposed to be super quite and still have 33.5cfm so that gives me 67cfm. I only need 70 cfm. I can subtract the amount of plant and bucket material and light all that is taking up space. If it were EMPTY then yes it would need 3 for the 70cfm, with all the crap in it I only need probably 60cfm. The hood is HUGE! And the Hydro is going to take up alot of space too. I'll let you know how they are. Remember I plan this to be behind a secret wall to purturb nosey people and robbers/juvenilles etc. So it NEEDS to be SILENT. The pc fans are only 12.99 also so it's going to be ALOT cheaper then an actual 70CFM thats hella loud even WITH rubber feet.

Out take I would put high up Obviously...But intake?Down low I get cold wet air, High up I get warm (what air) does humidity rise or fall? or just all over evenly?
I could take the air outside but it is like 35degrees sometimes. and rainy and Foggy/misty. You can breath water.
Is that going to be any better? from under the house where it's "Relatively" blocked off is another option, but what would the C02 and Oxygen levels be sufficient?

I would like to put the intake just above the rim of the pots so that the air as it warms will go up through the leaves and stomata and then get heated by the light and forced out.
Will a cold wet concrete floor at like 50 Degree's make the plants mold as it enters the box?

How do I take air from the room that has cold high humidity air, and run it into the grow room, and out? or just out?

Ok so I read up and I put a 2" hole in the ceiling on each side. Currently they are both passive intake/outtake, non designated, and simple.

The temp this morning before light on was 60 Degree's perfectly with a outrageous humidity of high 90's!!! But I bongsmilie :bigjoint: :eyesmoke:
then just stared at it and thought of the simplest possible answer using all the given facts I have.

1.) the "Heat" from my light is a non-issue other then affecting humidity in an adverse way when it's closed up.
2.) hot air rises (duh!)

3.) hot air carries MORE water volume then cold air. Exp. a 10x10x8 grow room (800 cubic feet) can hold.
a.) 4oz (118) ml of water at 32F (0C)
b.) 7oz (207) ml of water at 50F (10C)
c.) 14oz (414) ml of water at 70F (21C)
d.) 18oz (532) ml of water at 80F (26C)
(Facts taken from the Medical grower's bible.)
So you can see. Even if I AM bringing in cold (supposedly wet) air it will be carrying LESS water in then that same volume of air will take out once heated! So as long as the air is warm and stays warm with the air flowing in and out then it should de-humidify itself. Problem comes at night, but I will see what happens.

4.) This allows me to vent out from the top and vent in from bottom of the plants like I wanted. Additionally this will increase passive air movement.
5.) Passive intake must be slightly larger then the out-take.

So I cut the 2inch holes in the top, not the bottom yet. Going to do it little by little in case I accidentally get it just right in between tests. I cut them before Lights on and sat in the room with a book, with the green light on, remember (green light does not affect photosynthesis so they can still sleep and will not affect the 12/12 flowering pattern.)
Before I cut the holes -T=60F and H=95%
After I cut the holes -T=60F and H=93%
Lights on with holes -T=70F and H=78%**
** Lights were only on for 15 minutes.
that was an hour ago.
Current -T=70F and H=73%.
Thats 1 hour full lights on run time.

So far the humidity is decreasing.
MY optimal running temp will be 75F on and 60Foff. So nothing to do now then just just back and give the room time to balance itself out before I check it... I think a Nap is due he he.

hiya mate. forgot to add if you do do intakes and are worried about mold, you could use some filters (of some description). i would always recommend having passive intakes but make sure they are light proofed if needed.

So I have been doing other projects and researching stuff online. But I have not neglected my babies.

Learned that my cloner gets really cold even though nothing else around it does?
Bought a 8$ fish tank heater at wal-mart.
Did some more sealing with great stuff.

Put a Door on it finally, waiting for latch and hook, and the weatherstripping.
Unit is not painted nor does it have any mylar or anything like that yet.

I have 2 holes on the top that are 2 inch and I have 2 holes Near the bottom but up a bit about 1 foot off the ground, and they are 2 1/4th inches. Hopefully going to be ordering fans soon. although it kinda works right now. Night time is my worry though and with Chance starting to turn amber (pistil only) and getting a little purple coloring. My 80-90 % humidity and 60 degrees F at night is starting to be a worry.

The temp pleasees me as she is REALLY starting to ice up and pack on resin. Trich are covering her bud sites and not only the leaves but the petiole is covered as well, the main stem even has a little. But with that Humidity she may get bud mold.

I am going to get something called Damp-Rid. It's apparently nothing more then calcium chloride that is;
1.) safe to EAT!
2.) no harmful fumes or odors.
3.) and it dissolves into the water when it's done.
4.) waste water is just normal clean water. But with a shit load of calcium in it so I can't use it to feed the plants as it will nute lock them. But hopefully Humidity problem solved.

I pulled maybe 2 grams off one of the lower branches that wasn't getting ANY light. (after I manicured it, and it's only a guess to what it will be when it dries.) Going to dry it and taste test. It's a heavy indica so I might pull a little early so it doesn't put me to sleep everytime he he.

I will get some pics up tomorrow.
