Do we need more information on seed packs?

A few breeders Like Alien IBL there lines and put work into them. Lots of breeders work there lines for years and keep tight liped..

Lots of other real world companies have trade secrets / recipies and whatnots that remain undisclosed..

Why not for cannabis, I used purple punch earlier as an example that still would have been good....
How do you know that? From what they tell you or from what you have grown ? Iam willing to bet that alot of those so called breeders personal gardens dont have the same gear as what they are selling you!!!

does someone is this thread produce seeds for sale?

what stops a person from grabbing any seed from any pack in the world producing it
renaming it and having a website anyways? no rub at all...who cares? FTW
Umm ethics. Not wanting to be found out and called out..

it's 2017, not the early 1990's anymore. Why would anyone at this point grab a pack and rename it; that makes no sense at all.

Then what are you going to form some seed company? To be fair jaws does that and makes f2's but he gives credit...

think bout it, I find a beautiful chem in a pack, and another in the pack thats different. all I got got to do to be a rock star is sell those seeds
(ya know, a f t e r those two seeds are plants, hybridized once again, and seeds result, new fresh printed fancy packs, got it?)

matter of fact.....thats exactly where the best genetics have come from man. its the way it works then and now. some put more time into it some dont, we just dont care, give us more chems, more profiles, more fancy names, more is more man.

So you are you suggesting that the best genetics come from people f2ing each other's seedpacks? just grabbing to random seedpacks and "the best genetics have come from those seeds?

Can you name the companies that have done what you speak of,?

The best genetics come from sourcing a cutting that backs up the hype or the best come from getting extremely lucky in popping a pack or 5 of soemthing you bought. Its a lottery ticket. Nothing more. When you pay 100 or more for a pack you giving some other guy money for a chance that the seeds he made and sold you will have something thats really really good. In my experience..and I've literally grown thousands of plants in almost 30 years of growing...the breeder seed packs have largely been subpar overall. My best plants have come from acquiring cuttings from friends or cool people. And making my own seeds. I have gotten lucky from seed companys...but not usually. Put it this way...Ive spent ALOT of money on seeds like the next yo yo. Hardly any of them make it past my test room or get ran for more than one or 3 crops. Clones...like Glue...Diesel...Dream...Forum...Headband...Chems...Og's...I have ran the hell outta them day in and day out year after year. They came from seed some where i know..but they have been kept and passed for a reason. The biggest reason seed packs dont make it beyond my test room is largely because of intersexed hermaphrodite plants and generally lackluster end product. For what they charge...they shoulf be doing thier job correctly and there should be hell fire multiple keepers in every 10 or 20 seeds.

I hear ya Whitebb but testers will only get a breeder so far.

Not disclosing the genetics sounds like a sure fire way to go out of business IMO.

I just cant imagine anyone (even novice growers) gambling their cash, time, and resources on unknown genetics. Especially the seasoned growers and seed collectors looking for breeding stock.
Like many, each seed I plant has a purpose and growing unknowns would be like feeling around in the dark for me. No thanks, lol. I'd gamble on bag seed from some good pot first.

Perhaps smart "breeders" should just do fems if protecting their lines is important.
*shrugs*
I don't know who you guys buy from but most breeders at most every seed bank list the info you want before you buy. May not be on the seed pack but its there.

I've also emailed breeders for the info and not one has declined.

Im not talking about seed vendors from europe where most genetics where coming from if not all from your time. You say since 1991.

USA AND Canadian breeders have been able to recently. Maybe this can help people who where the bad seed companies your had...

facts and names can help stir people so who?

I think that's where the confusion is coming from. Some want them like traditional veggie packs but most just want the genetics used.
As long as I can find the info online and they have the credibility when it comes to genetics used I'm good to go.
But when I pull out packs to grow it does help when genetics are listed with the strain name. I think I only have a few that don't....and a couple are from Top Dawg

Crossing two strains or any two seeds would be f1. First gen cross.

F1 are uniform.

Its standard practice in the ag world. Take two cuts and cross them and the results are uniform but if anyone tries to grow them again lime heirloom or ibl then they will be all over the place with different phenos.

I actually don't envy breeders, this week we had someone complain that he was on his second bunk batch of seed, because, get this, the seeds failed to pop in 2 days.

Yep, I have some cucumber seed that warns against planting seed from the fruit because it is F1.

Meh. I don't order in breeder packs. I use trusted seed vendors and they get repackaged for extra stealth.

I research before I buy new. If the info is not there I might risk it might not. Depends on my mood.

I almost exclusively use seed from weed I enjoyed smoking, I smoke a lot of weed, and have for decades, I know what I like when I find it and am always happy to find the odd stray seed inside.
More often than not I can grow and cure far better than the source.
I actually have to feminise a plant soon as I only have clone access to the strain, and the only male I have is a mid shelf landrace at best.

I have tried growing them. Lol. Results all over the place.

Anymore, its about a garuntee if its not heirloom it is a hybrid (first gen cross).
It does two things. It makes people buy more seed and grows a stronger faster growing plant from hybrid vigor.

I love growing from seed, these plants can be so unique, and like children, if you learn to get a feeling for what it likes and doesn't you can grow some nice flowers almost regardless. I've had weed with great flavour and little potency. Someone younger and more patient would take that flavour and work on the potency.

do you think these people use voodoo to get males and females to breed with? do you think maybe they use some other genetics, maybe ones found to be awesome...to breed with, maybe they do some research first instead of random selection, maybe they use a punnets square for years, maybe they just get lucky with their first batch of seeds.

all of the breeders I know use existing genetics, genetics that are sold by other names by other sellers even. geesh, catch up some.
