im running ebb and flow tables, used gh 3 part and now lucas. always had excessive salt buildup. causing dark green, curling leaves, but still broad, not pencil thin. gets worse as flowering time progresses. looks like ram horns. leaves get dry and crack near harvest. there is white residue on my hydroton balls.

does anybody else run into this?
how often and how long do you flush?
i got some flushing stuff from grotek, it says flood for one hour continuous.
what are these flushing liquids made of?
ro water?

share some experience please.

How often do you empty and refill your res with fresh nutes?

Sounds to me like you have root problems. I say this because I have run the Lucas formula for quite a while now and can say every time I dicect a rootball I can't find any salt buildup and I don't flush at all. Also the Lucas formula IMHO sucks in veg and I changed to a 50/50 micro bloom regimine and it has made a big difference. What additives, if any, are you running.

i dont use lucas in veg, i use gh 3 part according to their chart. plants start light green and vibrant.

not using any additives.

using gh 3 part or lucas the same thing is happening. even dialing both back. i have a 13gal res. G-M-B(0-104-208) i get about 900pm and have tried 0-80-160, i cant remember ppm. same result

I do a mid cycle flush and another at the end of flower...

so 4weeks in flush and8 to 9 weeks another flush.
i do it not cause i have a issue, more fore my own
peace of mind.

i find following gh feeding chart or any nute companys
charts tend to be way to high and lead to burning :(

yeah i never had an issue in veg with the GH chart so i stuck with it. i changed to lucas cuz i found the GH chart was too much nutrients in flower. but my major problem hasnt changed.

some pics would be cool to understand fully but it sounds normal to me, is anything suffering (yield, potency...). its normal for a plant that is ripening out to have leaf curl and yellowing out t words the end. mine are about 11 days from harvest and are curling and yellowing out and been feeding same strength up to this point and haven't started a flush of any kind. the plant knows its time is limited and is pushing hard for the last big bang before its life ends.

heres a tray at 6 weeks. every harvest does this. this is 4 harvests in a row. its something constant. i dont know why the first pic is upside down.

I never flush in ebb. If you feed reasonably you shouldn't have too much of a problem. How high is your EC?? High EC is probably what's messing up your plants.

H&G's "dripclean" can get rid of the salt buildup on your hydroton. I'm not convinced that it matters, but it will make things look nicer.

edit: just read your ppm. doesnt seem too high... How often are you watering?? What ratios are you mixing G-M-B?

another edit: You could get a wayyy bigger root system if you covered the top of your trays with pandafilm and then sunk your pots in there. As it is lights pruning your roots. More roots=more growth

i water 4 times per lights on. 4 mins run time. enough to fill tray, soak 2 minutes

thanks for the tip. ive been using hydroton to fill in the gaps, but i havent filled the recent trays too high cuz its annoying having to clean em. my bathtub is full of hydroton.

covering with panda film seems easier.
how do you do it? cover the tray, and cut holes or x's when i place them?
