You must be a male of European descent like myself........ "Everyone has been given the same chance" lol what are you smoking, I want some. I grow some great shit but nothing that good.
EVERYONE gets the chance to go to school k-12 for free. Whether you decide to actually go,and/or continue your education from there is entirely up to you. Yes, i am white. But i also grew up in a not so nice area in Chicago. Btw, i never went to college and have made more of myself that most of the people i know who went. YOUR fate is in YOUR hands.

No, we are supporting capitalism and ones reward of his/her OWN hard work.
The rewards of one's own hard work is what the OWS protesters want. When a banker buys up a companies, fires the employees, and harvests the assets making billions of dollars that banker isn't being rewarded for hard work. He's extracting money from our country at the expense of the American people. That is no more "being rewarded for hard work" than robbing a bank.

Why shouldn't the 99% be rewarded for their hard work? Wall St fails, the government gives the cash and everyone gets a bonus. When an American goes to college they get debt and no job prospects. When a middle class person works every day of their lives they can lose their job through no fault of their own and lose their house and everything they have. All of that so some banker can extract money he didn't really earn by working hard.

The idea that only Wall St bankers work hard and everyone else is just lazy is a lie.

Everyone has been given the same chance.
But they aren't. The wealthy get as many chances as they want while someone who is graduating college right now gets no opportunity beyond a minimum wage job and massive debt.

The ones who worked hard and busted their ass reap the benefits.
A lucky few do yes. Some were born into those benefits, and some just took them at the expense of the American people. Someone with a billion dollars can spend the life time earnings of a middle class worker every week for the rest of his life without every touching the principle. Is that billionaire really doing a life time worth of work every week? I don't think so.

You have bought into a pack of lies being sold to you by the wealthy elites. Wake up Neo....

Everyone has been given the same chance. The ones who worked hard and busted their ass reap the benefits. The ones who'd rather party and sleep in til 1 or sit on their ass and watch TV everyday when they COULD have been busting their ass to make something of themselves, don't deserve shit.
how much was YOUR bail-out check? :)

Raising taxes on anyone without curbing the out of control spending FIRST is like rearranging the deck chairs as the Titanic goes down. --Ridiculous.

Besides, this tax hike isn't to dig us out of any hole. It's supposedly to pay for another stimulus plan. --They are calling it "a job plan" because they tainted the word "Stimulus" after the last disastrous spending spree.

Every day we are hearing of another failed aspect of this Administrations fiscal strategy. I don't care how rich someone is, I would never ask them to foot the bill for asinine Government plans like handing over Mountains of money to start-ups that were destined to fail. --Our children's children will still be paying that back decades from now.

Even a key provision of the health care plan that was suppose to provide affordable insurance just got dropped because it was unsustainable. So we were promised lower insurance rates and availability to more people. But all we are getting is higher rates for those who have insurance, and more difficulty for those without it, to get it! --YaY for Big Government! :-/

Why would anyone be quick to just jump in and spend another mountain of money without serious scrutiny? --Even if it is just rich people's money it HAS to be spent wisely. This Government has shown it is incapable of that.

As far as "Occupy Wall Street" goes, I don't support it. The message is muddled at best and all I can make out of it is they want MORE BIG GOVERNMENT to solve our problems. Of course I can't support that! How do you think Wall Street got so powerful and rich? --Politicians and fat cats "scratching each others back". The bigger Government gets, the richer the rich get. Anyone who is against the rich getting richer, and thinks Big Government is the answer is a walking contradiction.

It's hilarious how so many of those Democrats in Washington are jumping on the "occupy wall street" bandwagon. Wall Street is operating under the Democrats Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform act. The President pointed out that Dodd-Frank was the biggest financial reform since the Great Depression!!! So if the occupiers are unhappy with the way Wall Street is operating it is a FLAT OUT indictment of Democrat fiscal policies... The Democrats are supporting their own indictment! LOL!!!

And what is the President smoking? Not even a year ago he extended the Bush tax cuts saying raising taxes during a weak economy would be a "depressant". --Well guess what! The economy is actually WEAKER now then it was when he extended the tax cuts. So how can it be wise to raise them now if it was unwise during a stronger economy less then one year ago?

WHAT?!?!

I didnt get mine yet? Are they in the mail now? How much did you get, if you dont mind me asking?

WOW, I could really use the money too. Thanks for spreading the word.

I just googled it and couldnt find any info on that? Was your check labeled "bail out"?

damn, I hope my check is still in the mail.

Who else has received their checks too?

This is gonna be so good for the economy. Trickle down, from me to the rest of the world.

I think I might take a vacation on my bail out money. I have been looking for Shangri-la for ever.... I'll be headed to Nepal and Tibet first.

SUCH GOOD NEWS!!!

idk

The movement is the right one but, as the above video suggests at it's end, there needs to be some sense of solidarity to power it. This will not solve the glaring problems we have in our financial system here in America in a matter of a few months, there must be an ongoing fight and the activists that are taking the reigns right now will not be able to sustain the momentum without solidarity. This is what the 1% and the Government have relied on for so long to retain power, a general public of America, of the World, that does not feel akin to the rest of the general population which is in turn wrought with infighting and dissent. The two party system here is partially used as a tool in this sense, pitting peoples of different economic backgrounds and ideals against one another so as to keep them from realizing their similarities and their common ground in this whirlpool.

maybe nobody has any 'focus' because there is so much different BS to deal with.

i don't think there is just ONE problem we can post on a sign and chant about. to claim the protestors have "no focus" is to parrot the media.

IDK but, I dont think that the protest are purely taxed based at all.

Seeing as I started this thread, I will reign it in as needed.

Simply put, something is wrong with the way things are being done these days, from taxes to corporations and the people who have lost themselves to the governments of the world who dont appear to be representing the majority as they should be.

There appears to be many issues at hand. Change is needed through protest, otherwise the protests are in vain.

Furthermore, folks are seriously trying to compartmentalize the movement as a "this or that" movement, whereas it appears to be multifaceted to me.

My two cents... but I dont think the protests are purely tax based.

I don't agree with a lot of the slogans on the signs that they show on the news like "tax the rich" and "end capitalism" but I like people getting out in the street and stirring things up. And I absolutely love it that most politicians and news outlets don't know what to make of it.

To me, the gist of it seems to boil down to wealth redistribution. How are they going to do that if it isn't through increased taxes? --by force perhaps?

I love how the anti-capitalists crowd is complaining about the crime down at the protests. They are having their property "redistributed" and aren't happy about it. All the while protesting that someone else's property should be redistributed for the protesters benefit LoL.

If all the Tea Party people who were out protesting a few months ago could occupy Washington DC at the same time we would really be getting somewhere.

So long as it stays grass roots I support it..The liberal media can't figure it out, the conservative media says they are heathens and communists. The corporate media is so disconnected from the people and reality. Thats part of the reason people are protesting, corporations rule the day and as of 2010 they have more rights then people.

I see it as a great awaking. The people are waking up, perhaps, in this information age...as long as protesters stay grass roots and don't allow it to be co-opted. Everyone from Obama all the way to Anarchist and Commies are trying to brand this as their revolution. Perhaps its inevitable that some side will capitalize on this, perhaps its inevitable that the media and the government will again succeed in dividing us as a people...but I remain optimistic that the information revolution is here and that people all over the world are exposing the real evils of this world - Corporatism, War, and ultimately our very monetary system and the power hungry crooks that take advantage of all people using it. Money is the root of all evil..I do believe that the head of this dragon is the FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM...We have to go for the head.

The fact that a small handful of individuals who are corporate bitches ...congress..the white house..etc...In a group of 305 million people now thats mob rule...Do nothing to forward humanitarian issues, thats Mob Rule not Democracy..thats not freedom..Democracy isn't freedom - Our republic was once the closest to freedom in human history, Free Market Capitalism is as good as it gets so long as we retain any Monetary system this promotes the most liberty and human rights. A resource based economy would be the most liberty and freedom of all, but I don't see that happening.

Absolutely. I DO support the movement. Somethings gotta change. Without change the movement is useless.

"Change" is an abstract idea lacking in any definition whatsoever. Obama promised us "hope and change." Well, we got "change" alright, and now we all "hope" it is not to late to repair the damage and reverse the direction he has pointed the nation in. Things went from bad to worse. Some, not all, but some of the changes Occupy Wall Street bozos want to see happen would make things go from worse to irreparably damaged.

I just like to see people activate. It is the current generation's awakening... we'll see how far it goes.

Will the revolution be televised?

things ARE irreparably damaged. In order for our economy to get better we need to crash and quit prolonging it as this will only worsen the blow
the longer we wait the worse this is going to be WHEN it happens

and bozos? really? I think the name calling can stop
labeling tens of thousands of people as "bozos" seems kind of bias
this guy might as well be on the fox news payroll!! lol
